My daughter and I stayed last weekend for our second-annual "retreat". We enjoyed every minute. Had the place all to ourselves on Thursday night, and Tami made us a big bowl of the best popcorn to enjoy with a movie we had rented. Coughlin's room is well-appointed and spacious. We loved the electric fireplace, closet for our coats and clothes, and comfy bed and furniture for relaxing. The big TV is also a plus, as we're HGTV fans. Friday we enjoyed a lovely breakfast (mmm, bacon) visited the Faribault Woolen Mill and the county historical museum, tried the local food, and attended an evening concert at the Paradise Theater (thanks, Tami, for the tickets!). We also had time to just hang out in the house and enjoy our lovely room, read, and talk together. My daughter loved playing with Butler, and we both enjoyed visiting with Tami and a fellow guest. Our getaway time always seems too short, but we look forward to next time. The Hutchinson House is getting to be a family tradition!

Butler and I certainly enjoyed seeing you two again and are hoping your visits do become a family tradition! Remember, anytime you stay overnight, if there's a performance at the Paradise Center for the Arts, I will provide tickets . . . it's called our Play and Stay package. P.S. We really enjoyed the violin practice, as that doesn't happen very often at the B&B!

Our stay at the Historic Hutchinson House B&B couldn't have been a more relaxing, delightful experience. We were only planning on staying one night and when our plans changed we enjoyed the second night there rather than at a chain hotel. Butler, the dog, greeted us on our arrival, we are dog lovers and it was so fun to interact with him, and Tami is so warm and outgoing that we immediately felt at home. The two breakfasts that we ate in the kitchen were wonderful and the coffee and conversation caused us to linger and enjoy being there. We highly recommend a visit to Hutchinson House!

Beautiful house, hosts were very friendly. First time for my girlfriend to visit a B&B she was pleasantly surprised. Our room was chilly even after the fireplace had been on for awhile, which made for some nice snuggling. Breakfast was a disappointment. Sometimes they try to hard to be fancy.

We are sorry your stay with us was less than perfect for you. We try to make each of our guest rooms in this big ole’ Victorian as cozy as possible, as well as make each breakfast a special event. Each B&B stay should be a unique experience and we want all our guests to enjoy it. Hopefully this one experience has not tainted your girlfriend’s view on B&Bs as an awesome lodging experience. In the future, if there are any elements of the stay that are not to your liking, please let the inn-keeper know. We are here to serve you

We had a relaxing stay at the Hutchinson House. The food was delicious and we met other freshmen parents which made it a special feature of our visit.

I hate writing positive reviews for the simple fact that it entices people to go to what I'd consider our nice little secret. That said, it was a fantastic getaway for myself and my wife. And a great way to spend our first anniversary. The house is beautiful and beautifully decorated. The hosts were extremely friendly and literally went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. There is a dog (Butler) on the premises, so if you are not a dog lover, this may be a deterant. We found the dog to be very friendly and we loved his personality. Very laid back dog. Additionally it is probably two blocks from downtown Faribault, so if you want to have a few drinks and not worry about driving, that's a way to go about it. Again, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice getaway for the weekend.

Nice place but the rate is really high for one night in small town B+B.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback on your stay. Based on the October 2014 date posting of your review, I'm going to make some assumptions in my response. Thankfully, the house has been booked practically every weekend since mid-May, which may indicate you didn't have the opportunity to book your first choice for a room. We offer weekend rates from $129-$199/night based on the amenities in each of our 5 guest rooms. In an effort to allow our guests even greater traveling flexibility, we do not require a two-night minimum, which is common-place in the industry. Also, we offer discounted weekday rates . . . popular with business travelers. I'm sorry you felt we did not offer you a significant value. We are constantly working to improve our service to make everyone's B&B experience more enjoyable. Please feel free to contact us directly with suggestions on how we might improve your stay and subsequently, the next guest's stay. Thank you!

As soon as we arrived we had the most welcome greeting, and from that moment, we were hooked. The Hutchinson House was recommended to us by our dear friends who live in Faribault. The location was awesome, the accommodations were exceptional, including a very easy to sleep in bed, and Tami (the innkeeper) makes a wonderful breakfast! She and her husband Doug are incredibly knowledgeable about Faribault and the surrounding areas and were extremely helpful with suggestions of places to see. We learned a lot about this wonderful little community and plan to return to the Historic Hutchinson House in a few months for a fun winter experience. If you want to sleep well and get your days off to a great start with a delicious breakfast while you're in Faribault, then there's no better place in town!!

What a wonderful experience and we look forward to going back there for our 2nd anniversary next year.

The Victorians, of course, were not especially known for their practicality but this “Queen” is an exception. Upstairs, guests relax in five spacious guestrooms. Master Hutchinson could never imagine that his pride n’ joy would eventually boast eight bathrooms and a TV in every room. Changing with the times, the whole house has central air-conditioning and even has wireless internet for those “techies” that can’t quite let go.
The Historic Hutchinson House B&B is proud to serve Cranberry-Almond, White-Chocolate Chunk Scones, which won a blue-ribbon at the Rice County Fair.
We’re bringing people who love history together with B&Bs (beer & bars) . . . it’s a new way to appreciate both. Welcome Spring with an enjoyable stroll through Faribault’s Original Town Neighborhood, featuring a variety of architecture dating back to the 1850s. We’ll make several “stops” along the way including Grampa Al’s. One of the oldest bars in the State of Minnesota, Grampa Al’s retains its original liquor license issued after the repeal of the Volstead Act. Each venue we visit has a history and a story and we hope to highlight those stories over a few pints. Our Pub Crawl Series happens several times each year. (Over-night stay required. Drinks not included.) Future dates include: May 15 & 16; June 18 & 19; July 3 & 4.
Enjoy delectable flavors and activities. We’ll be serving chocolate surprises each day at breakfast and savory and sweet chocolate appetizers each evening. Of course, there will be chocolate cookies available at all times! Also choose from * Chocolate Martini night * Build your own Sundae * Chocolate Pairings with Wine, Beer and Spirits * Leg and Foot Massage with Chocolate-Mint Scrub or the simple warm cup of sipping chocolate + butterscotch schnapps! (Over-night stay required.)
