It was neat to stay in such an old Inn, with the history it holds. Imagine what has taken place over the 250 + years it's been running. However, in Room 2B (the end of the hall on the lower level) the mattress was too hard and the heating system too loud. The Continental breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options and all very tasty. The hostess was pleasant and the decor and architecture were very interesting. My wife and I will stay there again, but hope the mattresses and heating system will be updated.

We stayed here for 2 nights in October a few weeks before the Inn was due to close for the season. The staff are very welcoming. Because the Inn was only hosting 3 couples, they upgraded our room to a larger one. Very nice decor - although in some places the wallpaper is coming away from the wall and some of the seams are opening. Our room was on the first floor. Very convenient, but there is one drawback to being on the first floor. Every time the people in the room above us used water, there was the loud sound of a waterfall as the water cascaded through the drainpipes in the ceiling and wall. Doesn't happen often, but it's surprising when it does. The other slight annoyance was how very loud the heater was when the thermostat called for heat. This is likely not a problem in the summer, but cold evenings get so noisy that you can't hear the TV while the heat is on. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Breakfasts were nicely done. Cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, granola, home made scones, home made quick breads, juices, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, tea and coffee. One quirk, here - no decaf coffee? That was surprising, because so many folks that do B&B's can't have caffeine. As is the case at almost any B&B, the guests are always interesting. The other couples were from Toronto and England. Would we stay here again? Probably.

Absolutely loved the Old Orchard Inn - relaxing bed and breakfast - within walking distance of old downtown

We stayed in the Old Orchard Beach Inn for two nights. This inn is beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. Our room on the second floor, right above the porch, was spacious -- allowing us to spread out -- and the employees were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Christine gave us a tour of the inn and pointed us toward an excellent restaurant -- the Landmark on E Grand Avenue near the beach. The continental breakfast spread provided an ample selection of treats - yogurt, bagels, scones, from-scratch breads and muffins, hard-cooked eggs, cereal, fruit, etc. Great coffee, too, which was enjoyed on the front porch with a perfect view of the gorgeous OOB Town Hall located directly across the street. Coffee and tea are available around the clock in the parlor. Overall, our experience was terrific.

We couldn't have made a better choice for our lodging. To actually eat breakfast in the original 1730's structure with it's original floors, beams was wonderous. The banana bread was excellent. Coffee and a treat was always available in the main sitting room, everything is in walking distance.

The location and feel were fabulous! However, my room had the MOST uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Springs poking me no matter how I tried to sleep.

My husband and I recently moved to Rhode Island and have been exploring the Northeast. We decided to spend a short weekend in Portland, ME. Hotels in Portland were astronomical for the August weekend we were looking at, so we expanded our search. Friends had mentioned Old Orchard Beach as a nice place to stay, and we came across the Old Orchard Beach Inn with very reasonable prices (half of what we found in Portland). It's only about 30 minutes from Portland, so we could easily get to the city for the day. The Inn is very nice, well-kept for its age. It's the oldest inn in Maine! The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and funny. Although the inn is on the "main road", it stayed quiet until about 8 am. It's a short walk to the carnival and pier, but far enough away that it was quiet even though the pier was hopping! The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast in the morning was continental, but had good options. We would probably stay here again the next time we visit.

The room was spacious and homey appearance. The view was guarded from outside intrusion and privacy was abundant. Quiet and secluded was the call of the evening. The afternoon tea came with hot cookies and variety of fine teas. The quaint chairs enveloped you into the days of yore. Truely a sumptious treat staying at Old Orchard Beach.
