Baked Caramel Apple French Toast

  • 2 cups Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons real vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • small loaf Italian or French Bread cut into 1" cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Tart apple cut into wedges

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place brown sugar into 13 X 8” baking dish Melt butter in microwave. Blend brown sugar, melted butter and 2 Tbsp. vanilla (or other flavoring) until it makes a glaze in bottom of baking dish.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk and remaining flavoring in a shallow bowl until well blended. Dip each bread slice into egg mixture, soaking both sides. Set bread on top of brown sugar mixture in baking dish. Arrange apple slices around the bread, turning to coat with the brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon to taste. (refrigerate or freeze if you desire)
  3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Arrange on platter, spooning the caramel sauce & apples over the French Toast
