What a delightful spacious beautiful home and setting, love the floors, colors and decorating. Tea, cookies, happy hour, all awaited us. Great theme, wines., Great conversations with hosts and guests. Yes, the breakfast was fantastic, french toast souffle sausage, parfait and zucchini bread. Wow! Great stay, would love to return. Tank you!!!
This was our second visit. If you enjoy visiting historic homes and other buildings you are going to love this. You can not only enjoy the ambience by looking at it, but also sitting in it and touching it!! (No Roped Off Areas!). Innkeeper Anne makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The meals are feature as much local foods as possible depending on the time of year, so freshness is guaranteed and the recipes range from "old family" to "let's try something new". All are mouthwatering and delicious. In addition to the meals, snack and drinks are always available. The Farmland settings and the morning "moos" are equally pleasant. You will not be disappointed during your visit.
Our second visit to this wonderful place. Anne is a great hostess and the breakfast are different each day. The breakfast would cost over $20.00 a person alone! If you could find the unique items available. The house has wonderful charm and the Anne takes great pride in giving you history of the house and the area. I can't think of a better place to stay if you are in the area. We will be back in the area in two years and hope to stay again and this wonderful B&B.
After searching several weeks for the perfect place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we found and booked 4 nights at the Steeles Tavern Inn. What a wonderful choice! The Inn is located on a large beautiful piece of property that is quiet and calming. The Inn owners, Melissa and Ray, really made you feel at home. The breakfasts we had each morning, cooked by Melissa, were delicious. And the complimentary wine in the evening was a very nice touch. Our room was both elegant and cozy. The fireplace was inviting, the king bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were luxurious! (So nice we purchased a set) We have stayed in many places all over the world and this is one of the best we have ever stayed in. JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
We have stayed here once or twice a year for about 3 years now and it has always been a great stay. It is a beautiful mountain get-away place and that does mean you have mountain roads...it's part of the experience! It's quiet and peaceful and nearby hiking trails offer lots of scenery and wildlife. We enjoy staying in the lodge and being lazy - not having to walk to the lodge to eat. The innkeepers make us feel like family! The food is delicious and plentiful.
Patty and Dan have a beautiful B&B and were so warm and welcoming. The Hummingbird Inn is charming and we found the proximity of the railroad exciting, but it might bother folks who need absolute quiet at night. The breakfasts were great! While Goshen is a really small town, there is a lot to do and see within a half hour drive. We loved the little country restaurant around the corner - simple and good. Was a great stay.
Our stay in the Bayberry Cottage was wonderful. We loved the coziness, decor, furnishings, and beautiful country setting. We were lucky enough to be there by ourselves and on a beautiful late Fall weekend which added to our overall experience. If you're looking for a secluded, private, cozy rental cottage, look no further than Autumn Ridge. Loved the wood burning fireplace and jacuzzi tub for two. The cottage has a full kitchen where you can make and enjoy all of your meals if you choose to. Next time we would probably bring more groceries but there is also a Kroger not too far away on Rte 60. We definitely hope to return again some day. B&K
Traveling from Jacksonville, FL. Wanted to experience something more than just a view of a hotel chain parking lot - especially in the fall. Steeles Tavern B & B was perfect. Property is large and has paths I could use that went into the forest. Inn Keepers were very friendly and down-to-earth. Breakfast's were excellent. Had the best sleep I've had in years.
Innkeeper, Ann Herring has brought this old home to life with her perky collections and unexpected colors. Her attention to detail made our stay there a truly delightful experience. Rooms were immaculate, beds were comfy, and the breakfast was amazing. True southern comfort with amenities galore! Don't miss this gem! The home made pound cake alone would make the stay worthwhile!
We could not have been more pleased with our stay. everything about Steele's Tavern Manor was exceptional. The Alexanders are first class owners of a warm and hospitable property. We would definitely return and have already recommended the B&B to friends.
Oct 19,2014 It was my first time staying at Autumn Ridge Cottages and it was a GREAT experience! Only a few minutes from downtown Lexington, W&L and VMI, yet I felt like I was in the middle of the country, the drive up to the cottages from town is gorgeous! It was very peaceful and enjoyable. The cottage itself (Twinleaf) was immaculate. I definitely will reserve again!
We have stayed in the Bayberry Cottage twice. Once in 2010 and again this fall, 2014. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Lexington in general and especially in the cottage. They have thought of everything. It feels like home when we visit. We can't wait to go back. We HIGHLY reccommend Autumn Ridge Cottages.
We so enjoyed our stay at Autumn Ridge Cottages! This is the second time we have visited, and we have now stayed in 2 of the 3 cottages. The cottages are beautiful, and the owners have thought of everything one might need. The scenery is breathtaking, with lots of deer, and only minutes from Lexington. A great place to relax and enjoy nature! Definitely a place you will not want to leave!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at Herring Hall! We were there for a horse show, and our expectations were exceeded by Anne's gracious hospitality. Breakfast on Sunday was incredible, especially the stewed tomatoes! We will be back!
We just spent one night at Shenandoah and we had a very nice visit. This is an interesting combination of B&B, art gallery, working studio, and art classroom. There were several other couples there and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and filling. The hosts were gracious and helpful. We made quick trip to nearby Lexington and found it to be an interesting college town. There does seem to be a vibrant art community in the area based on the number of galleries. Highly recommended.
Absolutely loved everything about Bayberry! The owners have everything to make your home away from home seem like home. All the little touches were so appreciated from the snowy, snowy white towels to having a fire laid and only having to strike a match. Their thoughtfulness to detail shows their pride in welcoming you as a guest! Most definitely recommend and hope to revisit!!!
We were pleasantly surprised as to The Hummigbird Inn's victorian charm as we pulled up. Once inside we were greeted by the owners and given a tour of the inn. Very clean, delightfully decorated, amenities galore and a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. My husband and I only disagreed on one aspect and that was the breakfast. He felt there should have been seconds offered and I felt the portions were adequate. The owners were very gracious and we would and hopefully will return for another stay. Dave and Melanie ok with it.
My husband and I stayed here overnight during a road trip we took in early September. We were so impressed - Melissa and Ray went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and they were so friendly and sweet. The food was delicious and Melissa was happy to accommodate my eating restrictions. We would definitely go back to Steeles Tavern if we're traveling through Virginia again in the future, and will recommend the experience to others. Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful!
I highly recommend Autumn Ridge Cottages for the perfect getaway. We have made five trips to these cottages and each visit has been superb. Plenty things in the area to do or choose to do nothing. The cottage and all it offers is really all you need.
Thank you Ray and Melissa for a fantastic stay! We enjoyed our weekend get-away so very much - it was just the type of place and weekend we needed to disconnect from the stresses at work and home and reconnect with each other. Melissa is an outstanding cook (amazing chocolate-chip cookies!). Breakfast was filling and delicious. We felt so taken care of and cozy at Steeles Tavern and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a B&B in the area!
My two granddaughters and I stayed at Applewood Inn in August. This was their first B&B experience, and what a wonderful one it was. Chris and Linda were so cordial and welcoming. We were made to feel more like friends than guests. The serene setting is very releaxing. The rooms are a good size, comfortably decorated, and immaculate. The girls loved hearing stories from Chris and Linda about the Llamas and their distinct personalities. They were able to interact with them as well. Our two breakfasts included an egg dish and corn cakes that were fantastic! Everything was freshly prepared. The girls had so much fun, they didn't even miss TV or iPads. We hope to return to Applewood Inn for another visit. Highly, highly, highly recommended for either couples or a family with children who can appreciate what nature has to offer. Wonderful hosts in a delightful B&B, instantly make you feel at home. Great location, just far enough off the beaten path to allow for immediate relaxation to unfold. Breakfast was good and a fun surprise each morning. The train will rock your world at some point during your stay, but that's all a part of the experience!
This was our first time at the cabins and it was amazing. We ordered the Anniversary package and it was perfect. The cabin was beautiful and very clean. Loved all the little notes, loved the area. We def will be back again
We loved staying here. The house is beautiful and historical, which we really liked. The owners made us feel like family. Food was great and all the other guests were very nice and breakfast was always very sociable. Scenic places all around.
My wife and I spent three cozy nights at the Shenandoah Manor last week. We stayed in the Dali room for our honeymoon and we had a great time there; we particularly enjoyed the hot tub in the room where we relaxed with some Virginia wines each evening. We had a lot of privacy there and found the whole experience very relaxing. Nancy and Jan-Willem whipped up a nice breakfast each morning, with our favorite being a baked apple pancake. The next time we head back to the Virginia wine country, we plan on staying at Shenandoah Manor.
