  • The Laurel Bed and Breakfast is a 2-story New Orleans style home with a raised front porch. The front yard has been renovated as a beautiful courtyard with a sitting area, fountain, gas and electric lighting throughout. The home sits on a corner lot which allows a scenic view of the neighborhood.
    The main bedroom has a queen-size bed, artwork and Eliot's photos on the walls. A large Mahogany armoir contains draw space and a television. The room also has a telephone.
    The private sunroom is attached to the bedroom. It contains a full-sized (inner spring) sleeper sofa. This room is beautiful and is full of natural sunlight.

    The Laurel is located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the new street car (trolly) line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art. The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos. The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood. Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park. Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. They both have professional careers; Laura is an Engineer and Eliot is a staff photographer for the local newspaper, The Times-Picayune. Ranger is the resident cat whose main job is to do nothing when he's not sleeping. Come join us and enjoy the experience of being "At Home in New Orleans" with Laura and Eliot.

    Great place to stay!

    The room was excellent, and since they only have one room available, they cater to you. I was able to call and get directions to the nearest and best eatery while we were out one day, and they didn't blink. Since Eliot is a former food editor at the Times-Picayune (I'm pretty sure), he knows all about places to eat and things to do. The room, grounds and house were all gorgeous. It was such a nice stay!

    Great place to stay!

      Traveling on I-10 East from the Airport: Continue on I-10 East for several miles until you approach I-10 East to Downtown Business District (to the right) and 610 loop (straight ahead). Stay on I-10 East by keeping to your right. The next exit is the Metairie Rd/City Park Ave exit. Take that exit and then turn left at the traffic light. That will put you on City Park Ave. Go about 1 mile (passing several traffic lights) until you come to the intersection of City Park Ave and N. Carrollton. Turn right at the traffic light to get onto N. Carrollton. Take the second left and make a U-turn, then turn right to get on Delgado Drive. Once you are on Delgado Drive, go a couple of blocks until you see Wilson Drive on your right. We are on the right-hand corner of Wilson and Delgado. Our neighborhood & license does not allow signage, so there will not be a sign for the Laurel bed and breakfast. The house is a 2-story green stucco home with a red Spanish tile roof. There is a blue-green iron fence around the front yard. The front yard has a large white gazebo, which is very visible from the street. The address is 3626 Delgado Drive. Just a word of caution….the house numbers jump out of sequence in the block right before the Laurel, so keep that in mind. Enter through the gate on the Delgado Drive side and go to the main entrance on the 2nd floor porch. Please ring the doorbell upon your arrival.
