We stayed over the mother's day weekend. The place was perfect and if you want to visit one of the best B & B's in the country this is the place to go. We rented the cottage so had it totally to ourselves. The place was perfect. Great food and special treats in the evening also with the wine.
Came upon A Storybook Inn from a contact person for the Kentucky Derby and online. Without a doubt this Inn is the best we have ever stayed in. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in glorious splendor!!
My husband and I always said one day we would go to the Kentucky Derby and we did and it was a dream come true and staying at A Storybook Inn completed our dream!!
Thank you Elise and staff we cannot say enough about our room (Somewhere In Time), the gardens, the breakfasts, the friendly and very accomodating staff and the beautifully decorated Inn itself...It was all like we were living a real live story...
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Elaine, you and Dean were wonderful to host! I hope it is not the last time you come visit us in Kentucky all the way from Canada. We love Canadians. One day I will make it to Nova Scotia!
All the very best to you!
Elise
We stayed only one night at The Storybook Inn. I wish it could have been longer. The word Luxurious comes to mind when I think about the place, from the decor to the hospitality to the food and even to our wonderful sheets, the best I've ever slept on. We stayed in the Somewhere in Time room, truly memorable!
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Ah, thank you so much for your kind words. It is our joy to provide an experience of luxury for you, down to the smallest details. Please come see us again!
Elise
We are Bed and Breakfast fans and have stayed at numerous inns. The StoryBook Inn was a real gem. We were pampered by the owner and the inn was impeccable in every way! I would recommend this inn to only those that enjoy being surrounded by a beautiful inn and beautiul surroundings in a relaxed and regal atmosphere and pampered as royalty!
Pat and Gary
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Hi Pat and Gary,
I hope your first stay was the first of many! We would love to host you again should you come this way again for business or pleasure.
All the best!
Elise
We stayed at A Storybook Inn in Lexington for the first time this past weekend, and loved it! The home is gorgeous, and Elise is wonderful! It exceeded even our highest expectations. We will look forward to a return visit.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Thank you, thank you, for your gracious words!
Please come see us again!

The southern style of the Storybook Inn was the perfect setting for our book club reunion last weekend. My college friends and I loved every moment of our stay at this exceptional B&B! The seven of us lodged in the beautiful Huntsman's Chase Guesthouse, the ideal base for our book discussions, our explorations of horse country, and our joy in being together. Each morning the breakfast in the mansion's solarium was a culinary masterpiece. The graciousness of Innkeeper Elise and her staff enhanced our happy experience. It could not have been any better and we resolved to return again!

The beauty of this inn is impossible to describe and pictures don't do it justice. Our entire stay was superb from beginning to end. Luxurious accommodations, beautiful gardens and delicious food topped off with impeccable southern hospitality. Can't wait to return!
I did the planning for our spring break trip the first week of April, I have no idea why I picked the Storybook Inn, but my wife is still telling me how smart I am. We both enjoyed our stay, Elise, the innkeeper, is tops and runs a most enjoyable inn, to call it a B&B does not do it justice.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] You two were so cute! I love it when couples have a great time getting away together for a time of respite and togetherness.
Looking forward to your next visit!
Elise
My husband booked us a stay at the Storybook for two nights last week. After 35 years of marriage, he has finally revealed himself as an intelligent, sensitive man with exquisite taste! The Storybook is not only architecturally stunning, it is also imbued with the refined and generous spirit of innkeeper Elise Buckley. From the fresh, organic eggs and home baked breads that adorn breakfast, to the luscious cakes and wine that beckon to guests from the sideboard each evening, the Inn is a feast of color, abundance, and good taste. The beds are lusciously fitted with sleek linens, and the rooms are decorated in a rich interplay of colors and textures. Yep folks, this one great place--just settle in and surrender to the joy of it all!
I spent three delightful days in the Huntsman Chase Guesthouse. What a fabulous retreat! The guesthouse was beautifully decorated and tastfully appointed. Everything anyone could possibly want was provided. Gourmet breakfast each morming was delicious and presentation was exquisite! A Storybook Inn was the most outstanding bed and breakfast I have ever visited. Elise and her staff were delightful and helpful in finding the things we wanted to see and do. The gardens were beautiful and time spent at the pond and waterfall was so relaxing and peaceful.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Thank you dear lady. We loved hosting your group of precious friends. It is my hope that those that planned on coming back later with their husbands will be able to do so, and also another girlfriend trek this way as well.
All the best!
Elise
I surprised my husband for our 13 year wedding anniversary with a night at A Storybook Inn. This was our first experience at a B&B. We are officially spoiled and I would find it hard to believe that any B&B could top this one! The Inn is even more beautiful than the pictures on the website. We stayed in the "Somewhere In Time" Suite and it was gorgeous. The glass Conservatory is beautiful and we had the best organic blueberry pancakes. Highly recommend dining at The Heirloom Restaurant in Midway and taking the Woodford Reserve Tour while you stay at this romantic Inn.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Sounds like you had a perfect Kentucky getaway. We are so very glad that we could play a key part in it!
Come see us again!
All the best!
Elise
I was at the Storybook last weekend. We needed a quick and easy escape from Louisville. This was it! Cozy, relaxing and comfortable...The bed(mattress) was the best I have ever slept on. We will be back.
We stayed in the Huntsman Chase Guesthouse on February 10 - 11, 2012. The facilities, the innkeeper, and the staff define what a first class bed and breakfast should be. We have been staying in b&bs for 25 years and they do not get any better than A Storybook Inn.
We stayed in this luxurious bed and breakfast to celebrate my spouse's birthday the weekend of January 14, 2012 and look forward to coming back in the Summer. The grounds, decor, amenities and service are all top class. The innkeeper, Elise, is a caring and amiable hostess with a discerning eye for interior design and keen about anticipating her guests' needs. Everything from the decor of the public areas to the details in the bedrooms, including night lights and high quality toiletries and linens, were of superior quality and astonishingly beautiful. The succulent breakfast was a highly-anticipated good morning treat. Even the ingredients for the breakfast were carefully selected by using organic products. Elise is well-versed on the offerings and events of the neighboring towns. Her recommendations eased the anxiety of exploring unknown restaurants. If you're looking to be pampered and enjoy a historical setting....this lovely inn is a must stay!
We stayed in the Casablanca room for our honeymoon, while we did the KY Bourbon Trail. The location was perfect for us to stay there and hit the distilleries! We were really impressed with the breakfasts that we had in the mornings, and with the snacks and wine that were left out in the common areas in the evenings. The food was wonderful! The suite was beautiful and everything that we hoped for. We left some clothes hanging in the closet and the staff called us as soon as they found it. Unfortunately we were already out of the area, but Elise offered to ship us our belongings. We were really grateful for that! The whole experience was wonderful. We are glad we chose Storybook for our honeymoon!
We could not have been more impressed by the offerings of Storybook Inn. We stayed in the "Somewhere in Time" suite to celebrate an anniversary. The suite was beautiful. The entire house was elegant, rivaling any 5 star hotel. The breakfast and the service was as good as it gets. Do not let the low price fool you. We just looked at the price again thinking we were not charged the full price! You will have to look hard to find a bed and breakfast with this class and service. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. When we are in KY, Storybook Inn is our new home.
We arrived at A Storybook Inn after staying at 2 other highly rated B&B"s. We were disappointed by those places but not with Storybook! I'm so glad this was at the end of our trip because nothing could compare to the luxury and feeling of this place. We had Elise to ourselves for breakfast the next morning and she graciously sat and talked with us and made
us feel so welcomed. We plan to go back for an extended stay soon!!!
My husband and I loved our stay at the inn. The whole house was gorgeous and felt like stepping back in time. However the bathroom and our bedroom were modern and spacious. The second floor had a nice coffee bar and we popped popcorn to watch our movie. Elise and her staff were so nice. Come here to relax and enjoy the luxurious surroundings.
This was our first experience at staying at a bed and breakfast and we are now truly spoiled. The home was very warm and elegant. The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to do in the area. We found some lovely wineries. We stayed in "Somewhere in Time" and fell in love with this room! The bed and bedding was very comfortable. I personally loved the 2-person lounging jaccuzi tub. We truly felt pampered the entire weekend. The breakfast and service was outstanding! It was a wonderful experience and would recommend a Storybook Inn for your weekend get-away! We hope to return soon.
My husband and I stayed for a night to celebrate his coming home from 6-weeks on the road. It was a wonderfully romantic and relaxing time, and Tamara was exceedingly gracious despite her feeling sick. The breakfast was delicious, and we could have stayed in the sunroom overlooking the garden and sipping our coffee all morning! Except that we couldn't wait to get back to the comfy bed and bathrobes to wile away the rest of the morning, thanks to the late check-out time. We did have trouble getting enough warm water for soaking in the whirlpool tub, but that was still enjoyable and I forgot to ask about it. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
We celebrated our 8th anniversary at Storybook Inn, and it was the most AMAZING trip. We stayed in the guest house, and it was picture-perfect. Everything was clean, new, and updated. My husband and I were shocked at the attention to detail shown. There was a big, flat screen TV, a remote-controled fireplace, a sparkling-clean jacuzzi, leather recliners and couch....I could go on and on. We had a private back porch overlooking beautiful grounds, too. So romantic!
Tamrarah, the inn manager was great, too. She was energetic and so attentive. She really made us feel welcome. I can't say enough about the breakfast, either. I felt like I was dining at a five-star restaurant!!!l If you stay at the inn, ask Tamarah to make Kentucky Hot Browns. They will knock your socks off! Dessert in the afternoon was wonderful, too.
We definitely had a trip to remember. My husband and I have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts before, but never anywhere like this. We're already talking about our next trip! Stay here. It's worth the money!
Jenny
We went to the Breeder's Cup and then visited Lexington for a few days afterward. We stayed in the cottage and it was an utterly divine experience. Tamara was very attentive to all our needs, and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommend A Storybook Inn and cannot wait to visit again!
What a marvelous setting for a wedding!!!
Our families took over the Inn for one night to share the wedding of our eldest grandson!
Elegance abounded, exceptional staff attended to every detail with smiling faces and nothing but joy was experienced the entire time we lived at A Storybook Inn!
The parlor was perfect for the ceremony. The wedding dinner was exceptional, served in the Conservatory by absolutely delightfully happy ladies who love their work.
The suites (not rooms, suites) are right out of movies, literally! The bridal suite, (Somewhere in Time) was a magnificent first night dwelling place! The other three suites are equally stunning and comfortable.
If you have only one chance to visit a B & B make it A STORYBOOK INN!
My wife and I stayed here a year ago and thought then, what a wonderful and memorable setting for a wedding. Little did we know that we would, just one year later, gather four generations of our family at the inn for our son's marriage. A Storybook Inn, did in fact, become the setting for A Storybook Wedding! Elise's gracious hospitality and attention to detail enabled my wife to plan the very special event in just a few short weeks. Tamara and the rest of the staff made my family feel as if the mansion was our home. Because of A Storybook Inn, my son and his bride had A Storybook beginning to their life together!
This is nothing less than a first class bed and breakfast. We exclusively stay at B & B's and this would top our list of places to stay. Food is fabulous - all prepared with wonderful ingredients and you will always be asked if there are special desires or needs in your diet. The staff and owner are all fabulous - very friendly and extremely helpful. We have stayed her 5 times and will definately be back.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Hello! It is our pleasure to meet your dietary needs and our joy to try our best to exceed your expectations.
Thank you again and again for choosing A Storybook Inn!
Elise
Nothing could be finer then to visit the heart of Kentucky in the fall with a stay at The Storybook Inn. This stately mansion is located in Versailles,Ky which is convenient to everything. This was my second stay and my first since some significant renovations; which were most pleasantly surprising. We found the staff absolutely amazing and accomodating in every way. Even a late night rescue of the dvd player which allowed us to view "Gone With The Wind" from the "Gone With The Wind" room. What a treat. We got 4th floor seating for the last day of the fall meet at Keenland Horseracing and enjoyed Elise's(Innkeeper) favorite restaurant in Midway in the heart of the horse farms. What a glorious weekend all perfect i9ncluding the wonderful breakfasts prepared each morning. I highly recommend this Kentucky Treasure and give it my highest rating.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] What a lovely recap of your stay with us! I am so glad that your visit was WONDERFUL for you! I love this gorgeous old place and love to share it with lovely appreciative people like you! Thank you for choosing to come stay with us.
Warmly, Elise
This is absolutely one of the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast Inn's we have ever stayed at. Tamara was so gracious and was continually seeing to our every whim. Breakfast was delicious and different each morning. Elise is an amazing innkeeper and such a blessing. What a joy these fews day were for us. Bill & Dee
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Dear Bill and Dee:
Your sweet review brings joy to my heart. I am so very glad that your stay was wonderful for you. Please do come see us again so that we have that priviledge again of serving you!
Warmly, Elise
Most beautifully and creatively appointed B&B we have experienced. Attention to detail is exceptional - Elise has gone above and beyond in anticipating her guests' needs. Breakfasts were fantastic, as was the service. Appreciated the afternoon snacks and beverages. Location is ideal for easy access to Keeneland Race Course and touring Lexington area horse farms. Any return visit to Lexington/Versailles would definitely include A Storybook Inn.
Tim and Janet Elliott
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Dear Tim and Janet,
Thank you for posting this beautifully expressed review of your "storybook" experience. I am so glad that you loved what we have done. And indeed, we would love the opportunity to serve you again should your travels bring you this way! Blessings! Elise
My friend and I have stayed alot of places but this really was the best. The property was beautiful and so very clean. The food was excellent and service so friendily, I really felt like I was staying with family. Tamara, the Innkeeper was so accommodating. Storybook Inn is a true treasure. Thanks BL
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Hello to you!
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay. I am so thrilled that you found Storybook Inn to be tops on your list of placecs to stay.
Please come see us again! Warmly, Elise
Our daughter and son-in-law gifted us with a night's stay at your B&B as a thank you. Now I feel we need to return the favor. They need to experience your beautiful setting, friendly atmosphere, and impeccable service.
Our night at your Inn is one we will remember fondly. Thank you.
Sally and Red Stollar
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Hi Sally and Red:
You have a wonderful daughter that she would gift you with a stay at Storybook. I am sure that she did her homework and choose us out of many. I am grateful to her for her choice and grateful to you for coming and also for posting this lovely review! Thank you! Warmly, Elise
My wife and I spent 2 wonderful days at A Storybook Inn in the Huntsman's Chase Guesthouse which was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The highlight of our stay was the excellent breakfasts Tamara prepared for us, it was definitely the best banana stuffed French Toast I've ever had and my wife loved the Eggs Benedict. We were well taken care of and will definitely recommend A Storybook Inn to others.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] A big thank you to you for coming to stay with us. We love, love, love how the new guesthouse turned out. So glad that you could come and stay with us and enjoy it. It is our pleasure to serve fantastic breakfasts. Yes, it delights Tamara to bring smiles to faces and to tummies! Come back and see us!
Warmly, Elise
My sister and I returned to Storybook Inn after the renovations. We were enthralled, as we were the first time, in this magical place. It is so elegant, beautiful and sumptuous. Tamara is a breath of fresh air and really extended herself to make our visit even more perfect. We very highly recommend this delightful place to all our friends. I've traveled extensively, but I've never seen a more beautiful place than the Versailles/Lexington area. Storybook Inn fits perfectly in this surreal area. Oh, and the Eggs Benedict were equally superb. Thank you Elise and Tamara, for another unforgetable, magical stay.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Wow! What a wonderful review! You make me want to come stay at A Storybook Inn! I designed it in such a way that it would be very elegant but very comfortable for our guests.
I am so glad that you loved your experience. Besides being beautiful far beyond the photos on the site, it FEELS so peaceful and wonderful here. I am so glad that you expressed in words your lovely, "unforgettable" and "magical" stay. Thank you, dear sisters! Warmly, Elise
Our stay was nice. The staff was very inviting. The food was excellent and there were wonderful treats in the evening. It was a beautiful inn. We had a lovely stay.
I was a little confused about telling them that it was our anniversary and they did not really acknowledge that in any way. Other places we have stayed at least gave us a little card. Why did they want to know?
Also, there were no candles in the fireplace and it didn't seem we could use it. Also, I didn't notice any aromatheraphy.
I think the price was a little high so it made us notice some of the little things advertised that we didn't see.
However, all in all, our stay was very nice.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Happy Anniversary to you! I (Elise)wasn't at the inn the evening that you were there. I apologize for our staff's oversight in not wishing you a Happy Anniversary. We love to do the well wishing and extra goodies. Did you tell the manager that it was your anniversary? Or fill it in on your reservation form? Whichever it was,I apologize that we did not extend anniverary wishes.
I know that when we choose a place to spend special occassions, we have certain expectations. It is our norm to exceed expectations but I know how disappointing it can when expectations are not matched with what we had in mind.
The candles that you mentioned, I have since taken off the website. I had just had them removed from the fireplaces before your visit. The fireplaces in all the main house suites were too close to the bedding, so posed a safety (fire) hazard, so I had them removed except for our honeymoon suite, where the fireplace is at least 16 ft from the bedding.
The "aromatherapy" that you mentioned is in the air whirlpool. It would only be noticed if a whirlpool bath was taken. We regularly refresh the inner cannisters with natural oils, so it should have been current.
The ratio of what the inn cost to outfit and renovate compared to the cost of the suites is quite low. We are told by some well-traveled repeat guests that our prices
are too low commensurate with the huge cost of renovations and the outfitting of the inn, including 30 original oil paintings, art, antiques, additions, etc.
I wish you many, many more anniversaries together and should you give us a chance to extend anniversary greetings to you again, we hope that we can meet or exceed your expectations.
Warmly, Elise
We were fortunate to stay in the Guesthouse with 2 other couples and it worked out so nicely. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and we enjoyed having the extra space. I had called ahead to see if the grill was operational as I had noted it on the photos of the guesthouse. When we arrived there was not a grill but when we needed it on Sat. night one appeared so that the 6 of us could dine in the guest house and have a great time. They also made my husbands favorite flavor of birthday cake and delivered it to the guesthouse. They are most friendly and are attentive to your every need. It was such a delightful and beautiful place to stay. The staff is so very friendly and will meet your every need. It was a totally delightful experience and we hope to return again to this lovely part of Kentucky. The breakfasts were so delicious and we especially appreciated having a choice of times.
Everything was picture perfect. We are thinking about coming back for a renewal of vows. As a Chicago native, I'm used to modern chic and minimalism, but this country style coziness really converted me... and that's saying a lot.
This is an astonishingly well decorated and run B&B, the best I've seen, and I get around. Personal, yet unobtrusive; excellent breakfast without being fussy; the rooms are fabulously designed -- thematic without being cartoonish. Perfect balance.
When you enter the private grounds of STORYBOOK INN, you seemingly enter another "Era"...a fully renovated stately southern mansion with beauty and charm that visually says: "Welcome". Our family has lived in and travelled to many world spots and stayed at the very best Hotels and Inns. STORYBOOK INN provides amenities, details, personal service and attention that gives this Inn an edge as a five star facility. The Owner and Innkeeper, Elise Buckley, is delightful, gregarious, interested in healthy foods, the good life and truly knows her "hometown" of Lexington. We have been guests at Storybook over twenty times. Your first visit will be the start of a new "Inn" love affair. Sincerely, Dolores and Alfred W.
[Resource Id: innkeeperresponse, Set: reviews] Dear Al and Dee:
As I have gotten to know you over the years as guests, you have become my friends. For you two to have lived in many parts of the planet, to have traveled extensively and to have very discerning tastes, it is a joy to me that you choose Storybook again and again for your "between houses" stays. Besides that, I love your visits!
It was with great pleasure that I read your wonderful review of your many experiences at the inn. A huge thank you for coming again and again and for counting me as your friend.
Indeed Storybook has become your home away from home!
Very warmly, Elise
What a beautiful inn! Very peaceful and relaxing. The town of Versailles is very charming and our stay was wonderful. We plan to return some time in the future! This was our first B&B and it was completely memorable! Would recommend it to family and friends in a heart beat!
Our stay at Storybook Inn far exceeded our expectations. First, our eyes feasted on the beauty of the Inn from the beautifully appointed room to the magical waterfall that was our delight to see each morning at breakfast. The food was superb, great taste and great presentation. But most of all we felt truly pampered...our every desire was attended to. If you are in the Lexington area, you must plan to stay at the torybook Inn. But, its worth making the Inn your destination alone. Linda Eckard
Truly an outstanding B&B. It was equal to, if not better, than any B&B we have ever stayed in. The house and facilities were in excellent condition. Every aspect of our stay was superb! We will surely be back.
Tamara was kind enough to offer us the Huntsman Chase Guest Cottage.
It was beyond compare. We had friends visiting from Texas and the guest cottage gave us plenty of time to sit and enjoy each others company.
The food was excellent and the staff friendly.
The Storybook Inn is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed.
Bob and Pam Houston (Oxford, OH)
It was like paradise. Wonderful bed and breakfast. The staff was wonderful. Such a spirit filled place. Very peaceful. Worlds apart, but so close to everything.
We spent the weekend at A Stoybook Inn for our 17th Wedding Anniversary and completely fell in love with the house. The house is beautiful and spotless!
The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful! We were welcomed graciously and felt completely at home immediately. It was by far our best stay at a B&B! I can't wait to return!
In all my travels I've never encountered a more enchanting Inn than Storybook. Elise, Tamara and Veronique have spoiled my sweetie and me rotten. The Somewhere in Time suite is spacious and gorgeous--absolutely stunning--and the food divine. Every comfort is provided for; every desire anticipated. The attention to detail is impressive beyond belief. The atmosphere is one of elegant comfort and gracious warmth. We are so happy here that we may never leave!
I will start by saying that we are not typically fans of "Bed and Breakfast" accommodations. A Storybook Inn took our breath away. All the benefits of a luxury hotel with the personal touch of an Inn. An unusual combination of stately without being stuffy. We stayed in the cottage which was beautifully appointed and spacious. The inn was spotless. The best part of the stay was Tamara, the manager who meets, greets, cooks, and goes out of her way to ensure your stay in the Lexington area is fantastic. She brings a great personality to the place, without encroaching on your own space. We recommend without any reservations and would go back in a heartbeat. A great place to stay for exploring horse country and bourbon trail. Only a 10 minute drive into the heart of Lexington. Staying in Versailles in a large historic home adds to the feeling of the trip.
My husband surprised me with a stay at A Storybook this past weekend. I really didn't know what to expect; I definitely couldn't have predicted the experience we had in the "Somewhere In Time" suite. It truly is the pinnacle of charm, luxury, and attention to detail. The grounds, interior decor, and service were more than I could have dreamed. The fragrance (possibly lavendar) permeated my senses and added to the overall experience of calm and luxury. I was amazed at the cleanliness, appreciated the warm welcome (and complimentary glass of wine), and savored the delicious breakfast. I longed to stay another day! We will certainly return in the future!
We have lived in USA and Europe and have stayed in many hotels, guest houses, and B&Bs over the years. Never have we been treated so royally at such an idyllic place. The service, food, and friendliness of the staff (including Tamara, Chance and Veronica) is only exceeded by the cleanliness of the entire Inn (they are obsessive about their cleaning, which delights us!). We had a 4 night stay, which gave us plenty of time to evaluate all the guidelines. A Storybook Inn exceeded our expectations in every category. Tamara is a gourmet chef with a servant's heart...and this is an unbeatable combination. We can't wait until our next visit!
Barclay and Nancy Cox
My husband and I stayed at the Storybook Inn to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The inn is beautiful and "The Somewhere In Time" suite exceeded expectations! Thank you Tamara for making our stay such a wonderful experience.
We stayed for two summer nights in the Casablanca Suite, and we couldn't have been happier with everything. The room was very quiet and private. We did get a little cold; however, we probably should have let Tamara know to change the thermostat a bit, so we can't complain about it!
The breakfast was incredible, and it kept both of us going until well after lunchtime. The fruit was fresh, the coffee delicious, and the eggs just perfect.
We come down to the Lexington area for the Rolex and the Keeneland race meets, and if at all possible, we will be staying with Elise again!
My girlfriends and I stayed at A Storybook Inn and it was the perfect weekend getaway. Elise was wonderful in accommodating us while we were booking our stay. We had lots of questions and logistics and she took care of everything. Tamara exceeded all expectations- she greeted us with a smile and welcomed us to our cottage for the weekend with wine and cheese- what more could we ask for! The cottage is outstanding and exceeded all expectations- it was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Tamara made us the most wonderful breakfast, which was the perfect send off as we were all headed out of town and back to the real world! I have told everyone about this place since we left and I cannot wait to go back!! This is a must see/visit!
Everything was perfect! Talk about attention to detail! Really nothing else to say...if you enjoy beauty (nature and decor), peace and quiet, outstanding food (taste and presentation), and a pristine enviroment, you will love the Storybook Inn. Plus they couldn't have tried harder to meet every single need and request. I plan to tell everybody I meet on the street to head on down! It couldn't be better.
This is not a bed and breakfast, but a storybook experience. The inn is immaculate, the service impeccable, the atmosphere and gardens extraordinarily beautiful, and the breakfast over the top! Don't look any further - this can't be beat!
We stayed in the My Fair Lady Suite and had the time of our lives. Tamara and her staff made us feel right at home. And the FOOD! WOW!!!! I've had a lot of Kentucky Hot Browns in my life, but this was the best I've ever had! Can there possibly be a detail that was missed? We couldn't find one! Run, don't walk, to stay at this wonderful inn!
My husband and I recently spent two nights at the beautiful Storybook Inn. Without a doubt I can say that this was the most wonderful place we have ever stayed. Everything was a pleasure for the senses: exquisite, serene, relaxing. The breakfast was beyond belief and Tamara and Shawna were wonderful. It was a pleasure to meet you all and we want to thank you for everything.
My sisters and I took our mom to this wonderful Bed and Breakfast to celebrate her 80th birthday!!
As soon as we arrived; we fell in love! Tamara & Chance both have the most welcoming smiles and made us feel as if we were at home. The breakfasts are absolutely five star!!
Chance delivers them with the sweetest smile and with love.
Tamara worked on our schedules and helped with our tours of the area. She also pointed the way toward the best dining experiences near the home and we dined in style and loved every minute of it!!
Honestly, we hated leaving and will definitely be back!!
NO regrets....only PRAISE to the staff !! They deserve a raise!!
My three sisters and I took our mother to a Storybook Inn to celebrate her 80th birthday. Upon arrival you are immediately surrounded by an ambiance that speaks volumes in its beauty and tranquility. There is a peacefulness thats hard to describe. After having lived in
England for 9 years and Belgium for 2 I have certainly stayed in my share of bed and breakfast. I can with no reservation report that A Storybook Inn is one of the best experiences you can have in a bed and breakfast. Tamara, Chance and all the staff make your stay as close to perfect as one can hope for. When you leave you are left with memories that last a lifetime, memories to hold to , memories that are unforgettable. Loved it there! Ellie , Frisco Texas
To celebrate milestone birthdays in our family we went on the Bourbon Trail. It was a great day but we were looking forward to relaxing at the Storybook Inn. The perfect day turned into the perfect evening. We stayed at the cottage behind the Inn. It was beautiful and our group of 7 enjoyed having the place just for us. The cottage had a welcoming bottle of wine and delicious chocolate brownies and strawberries waiting for us when we arrived. The grounds and gardens were very nice and inviting. The hospitality was superb. The hostess was very gracious and the smiles were welcoming. The fresh made breakfast served on the enclosed porch was a wonderful way to start the day. We are planning another weekend so that we can stay at the Storybook Inn.
We were at your inn this past weekend for a wedding. It was the perfect setting for a wedding. Everything about our visit exceeded our expectations. The rooms were beautifully decorated to match the movie-themed name of the room; the meals were delicious; the grounds beautifully manicured with places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Everyone on staff was friendly and ready to please, even going over and above the call of duty. We will be back. Thank you for making such a special occassion even more memorable. A Louisvillian
We are new to the bed and breakast circuit and this was a great first choice! Good location for touring horse farms and bourbon distilleries. The manager is a top notch cook and so fun and willing to do anything to make your stay the best. The setting was beautiful and our room so comfortable and lovely, as were the common areas. We would not change a thing about ti s wonderful inn!
Our recent stay in the separate "cottage" (spacious and elegant) of the inn was outstanding. The property is lovely, with immaculate accommodations and common areas. A gourmet breakfast was served in the conservatory, by a friendly and professional staff. Tamara made us feel like family.
What a wonderful place to stay! The room, service, attention to details, and food all exceeded our expectations. A young couple married just as we arrived and we were invited to join their champagne toast. What a welcome! The gone with the wind room was amazing. Really comfy bed. The kitchen at the B & B was recently updated and is over the top. We asked to dine at the kitchen bar and had a great time watching our breakfast being prepared. We are planning on returning and spending a whole weekend being pampered there. What a great experience!
My wife and I choose to spend a night at the Storybook Inn after seeing it on B&B.com and in our B&B Registar. What a night to remember and and a place beyond our wildest dreams to stay at. We stayed in the "Somewhere In Time" suite and it was really beyond our wildest dreams, especialy the breakfast.
The Inn is beautifully decorated and the host is one of the nicest ladies I have meet before at a B&B. Off street parking is right at the door leading into the main section of the house. We loved our stay and look forward to staying here again real soon.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Storybook Inn is the perfect choice to transport yourself to a tranquil and relaxing state of mind, instantly. From the moment we walked through the door, Tamara displayed the perfect blend of personality and hospitality. The Storybook Inn leaves no detail unattended. It is an absolute delight!
This B&B is truly a special place. Our room, the Casablanca suite, was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. We were treated to a country breakfast in the morning, which was to die for. We will definitely be back!
A Storybook Inn is just outstanding. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, with beautiful grounds and attractive, usable common areas. Our room, Somewhere in Time (rooms are named after old movies) was like a luxury apartment.
The Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich was a unique and special breakfast.
Price is reasonable for what you get.

Just like a fairy tale where they live happily ever after....
...was our wonderful 10th Wedding Anniversary trip to Versailles, KY, and our stay at "A Storybook Inn." Rest assured it is just like the pictures, only better! It is just beautiful and our hostess was the "mostess"!
My husband & I stayed in the "Gone With The Wind" suite and it was luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, the robes plush, the "rainshower" shower head refreshing. They even had a lighted makeup mirror in the BR for me. Everything was immaculate. The new flat-screened TV had a lot of cable channels.
They have a lot of books and movies if you want to partake of those. The grounds were well trimmed with lush greenery, flowers, and a rose garden. We had fun watching the squirrels and chipmunks.
We went to nearby downtown Lexington that evening for dinner at "Natasha's" (very good) and I surprised my husband with the live weekly "WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour" at the historic Kentucky Theatre (very entertaining).
Wine, cheese, & brownies were waiting for us upon our return to "A Storybook Inn." Breakfast the next morning was in the conservatory and was delicious. The hostess complied with my desire for healthy food with fruit and yogurt and a delicious omelet with fresh veggies & asparagus spears (which were very tender--yum!); the coffee was also very good and the service excellent. Fresh coffee, tea, and snacks were also available just outside our room. There was a refrigerator inside the room and outside the room. Reservations and check-in and out were easy.
We also visited the "Mary Todd Lincoln House" and "Ashland--the Henry Clay Estate" in Lexington. The Versailles and Lexington area are always nice to visit because there are so many fun things to do, good food, and historic places to visit. I would definitely return to "A Storybook Inn" and would like to try one of the other themed rooms. "After all... tomorrow is another day."
Tamara greeted me at the door and made me feel like this beautiful old house was mine to explore and love if just for a day. The Casablanca room was a bedroom, study, and cozy TV room all in one, perfect for watching videos and paging through old books from the library downstairs. The furnishings (including camel lamps, a bronze lion, and a beautiful elephant print in the bath) took me back to Africa. Coffee, popcorn, and cool drinks were on a sidebar just outside with a complimentary glass of wine and Tamara's tasy brownies downstairs. Breakfast (great eggs with chives and cheddar and pecan-banana pancaskes with sausage) was a wonderful wake-me-up followed by a stroll of the grounds to admire the giant trees and the waterfall water-lily pond. This is one of those few places that is actually even nicer than it looks on the post cards. One final note: even the Bible in the side drawer was special, a new international version which was lovely to read.
My wife, my parents and I stayed in the cottage for two nights while sightseeing in Lexington. The cottage was so beautiful we cut the sightseeing short to sit on the porch and enjoy the grounds. Absolutely amazing. We were overwhelmed by the luxury and beauty of the cottage. The breakfast (made by Tamara) was absolutely out of this world. We will be back for sure any time we travel to Lexington.
This inn is not only quiet, beautiful and placed in a beautiful setting, it is a place where you can step away from the rat race. The owner has created a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. We loved this inn and highly recommend it. The attention to detail was over-whelming. We were impressed and did not want to leave.
The Storybook Inn was fabulous. We arrived late after just being married on June 4 for a 2 day honeymoon. We were unsure as what to expect since we are in our 30's and have never stayed at a B&B before, but Tamra assured me that if we never left the Inn there would be plenty to do. She was so right. Every morning we awoke and went downstairs to a beautiful conservatory filled with sunlight, wonderful music and out of this world cuisine!! I loved all the surroundings that made it so peaceful, and definitely no STRESS!! Our room Gone With The Wind was so large, the pics on the site doesn't do it justice!! It is a perfect retreat for anyone, no matter what the circumstance, you will leave feeling relaxed and full of peace. Also I forgot to mention the staff were so incredible and gracious. The grounds were beautiful, and we loved all the chocolate, the desserts, the drinks, teas, coffees, etc. etc., checkers, chess, movies, books, and on and on!! We look forward to returning and have told so many people about it!! Thanks again for a wonderful honeymoon, it was perfect.
upon arrival the welcome was so warm and friendly, like walking into a family/friend's home. Service was right there at our fingertips. An elegant, warm, magical, calming place to chill. The softest towels I have had in this type of setting. Inspiring, delicious breakfast. We would recommend any time. I surprised my husband for his 60th and he was delighted.
We stayed at the Storybook Inn as part of a trip along the Bourbon Trail. We rented the Huntsmans Cottage and it is gorgeous! New and very nicely done. Excellent amenities, including a full kitchen with basic supplies (even had coffee and chilled waters and soda in the fridge). This did not have a grill, like advertised (which I assume is going to be added since the cottage was new), but that was no problem at all as there a few area restaurants to get take out from, or we could just cook in the kitchen.
Breakfast is included in the rental price and it was amazing! We loved that the menu wasn't pre planned and that we were always asked what we felt like for the next morning. Everything was delicious and service was excellent!
The grounds are beautiful and the staff are super friendly and eager to accommodate every request. We will definitely be back for another visit!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at A Storybook Inn for three nights after a very busy and exciting time at the Kentucky Derby 2011. We were greeted with a smile and very pleased with the Gone With the Wind suite. Not only was it beautiful and spotless, but loaded with memorabilia paying homage to the film. Nice touch.
Tamara was our host and she provided wonderful home-cooked breakfasts each morning. My husband is lactose intolerant and I don't eat eggs, so it was challenging for her. But she rose to the task of pleasing us. Thank you for the sausage milk gravy and biscuits which I miss having living in New England! Every afternoon we had wine, cheese, crackers and the best brownies anywhere. Boy do we have to diet after three days there!
Not having ever been to the area, we depended on them to make recommendations for restaurants. They did a great job - we ate at Malone's, Dudley's, and Heirloom. Would recommend all three for great food and excellent service. I also wanted to go to a horse farm. It was a bit difficult because I was calling on the day we wanted the tour. Each person I spoke to that could not accommodate me gave me another name. We finally got in to Three Chimneys farm (thank you Laterri!). It was fascinating. They house Big Brown (2008 Derby winner) and Dynaformer (Barbaro's father) among others. We even got to see a breeding session.
It is not easy to find anything negative to say about A Storybook Inn; however, the driveway is very narrow. It would be impossible for two cars to pass each other - one would have to back out! But it was not crowded, so we never had a problem.
If we return to the area, we will definitely stay at A Storybook Inn. Well worth it in every regard!
We had everything planned for the weekend. Visit some distilleries one day and beautiful Keeneland Race Track the other. Well, it rained each day. We stayed until after the third race and decided to come back to the Inn to warm up. Everybody had the same idea. We sat in the beautiful sunroom with everyone in the Inn and had a wonderful time. We were all friends before the end of the day. Breakfast was worth the stay all by itself. Had a great time and want to come back sometime soon.
The Inn is delightful with beautiful grounds and lovely rooms. We enjoyed wine and cheese in the peaceful garden away from the busy city. I only wished to stay longer.
Wow! What a great bed & breakfast. The house is amazing, the rooms are incredible, & you are treated like royalty!! Our suite, Somewhere in Time, was beautiful & the bathroom is fabulous! My husband & I relaxed, enjoyed each others company, reconnected, & truly were pampered. Breakfast is soo decilous & the afternoon wine and cheese was a treat. We plan on returning again in the fall. I would highly recommend this B&B to everyone!

My husband and I just stayed at the Storybook Inn. We were so very impressed by everything. Elise and Tamera were friendly and professional, during our whole experience. Our room, Somewhere In Time, far exceeded our expectations in every area. We would highly recommend the Storybook Inn to anyone, and we look forward to returning in the near future. Anita B. KY
I loved the ambience of The Storybook Inn. It was charming and comfortable. The bedding was high quality. Very large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The breakfasts were a delight, as was Tamara, who prepared them. Wine and snacks in the late afternoon were welcomed. The housekeeping staff was wonderful. Overall, a great experience. I would return here.
I wanted to do something special for my mom who turned 87. I stayed in the room called "somewhere in time" and it was absolutely wonderful. This is a very special place. It is gorgeous, elegant yet very cozy. I feel my mom was very happy and I will have this beautiful memory for many years to come. I will definitely go back there with my husband. I could even marry him again there :-) Beautiful setting for weddings. Thank you Storybook inn.
This inn is without a doubt the best! The details that were/are thought of in the execution of the creation of this bed and breakfast are fabulous! The inn's staff as well as the innkeeper herself feel like friends. They were very willing to research information that we needed about the area, about things to do and went the extra mile by personally calling us and returning emails so that we were sure to get the info. we needed to enjoy our stay. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts in the midwest region and we feel her inn rivals a famous hotel on an island in northern michigan. We feel this way because the service and the food and the details and the decor are truly superior to anything we have encountered. The only problem we will have now is that we will compare our stays elsewhere with this experience-and the other spots will probably lose. I know we can't make a weekend trip back here, (being quite a few hundred miles away), but now we have a reason to make the long trip-truly, this inn would be the reason!
A Storybook Inn Is the Personification of Southern Hospitality At Its Best!
My husband and I just recently celebrated a belated anniversay and my birthday at A Storybook Inn, and from the moment we were greeted, we felt nurtured in every respect. The owner and proprietor, along with the staff, so warmlly made us feel at home and took care of every possible need we might have. The Inn had just undergone an extended renovation and a couple of weeks before our visit, had reopened its doors for celebrations, vacationers, horse farm and racing enthusiats, and weddings. No doubt, I have left much more out, but for my husband and I, it was a lifetime treat that will remain in our hearts forever.
There is no way to describe the renovations of A Storybook Inn! It is just breathtaking and you have to see it to believe how beautiful it is. It is a sanctuary where you just feel so nurtured and cared for in every respect. The beauty from such exquisite detailed planning, makes you feel you are in Heaven....or as one of the suites names implies...Somewhere in Time....all the south holds sacred! And enough cannot be said about the delicious morsels that come from the kitchen, from golden omelets filled with the best nature offers, along with beautiful fresh fruit compotes, and then if you are lucky enough to be celebrating your birthday while there, you even have a delicous cake of your choice, baked in the 'kitchen that dreams are made of'. Rejoice and give yourself the most precious gift....a visit and at a minimum, a two night stay at A Storybook Inn. Next time, my husband and I will opt for a week!! Much love to the entire staff for making us feel so much at home....
We had a great time at A Storybook Inn! The horse country is amazing and this is a great place to stay to enjoy the area. The food was amazing and the main house is stunning! We stayed in the cottage behind the main house. The cottage was remarkable! Everything you need and more! It is huge! So much room for a lot of people. We loved the extra touches like snacks left in the fridge and sweets in the kitchen for us to enjoy after a long day out. It was also nice to stay in and enjoy the house and family. Beyond wonderful experience!
We really enjoyed our two nights at The Storybook Inn; Elise and the whole team made us truly welcome and our room - Casablanca - was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast was a delight, delicious and perfectly presented. We also appreciated 'afternoon tea', which in our case comprised a welcome glass of wine and a piece of home-baked cake. A Storybook Inn is well located for discovering the Bluegrass region of Kentucky and for Keeneland; Versailles is a charming little town.
We heartily recommend The Storybook Inn - you will not be disappointed!
I stayed at the Storybook Inn for three nights in May and couldn't get over the level of hospitality and care demonstrated by gracious host, Elise. Every aspect of my stay was the definition of perfection. The home is exquisitely decorated and extraordinarily clean, the grounds are expansive and lovely, it's quiet, and last but not least, the food was outstanding. Breakfasts were a delicious treat each morning, with attention paid to healthful preparation and accommodation made for my special dietary needs. Evening treats were a temptation gladly indulged. Elise and her gracious assistant made sure I lacked nothing. Can't wait to come back!
I've stayed in some nice hotels and B&B's, and I can honestly say this one ranks way up there. Elise, the innkeeper, was the most gracious host I've ever met, and we felt totally pampered. Comfortable beds and the place is exquisite!
We spent two nights at the Storybook Inn and we'll be going back, for sure! The inn keeper, Elise, is the warmest, friendliest hostess I've ever encountered. She goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and well cared for, her hospitality is second to none! Make sure you enjoy the breakfast in the morning, I can honestly say she's a better cook than my own mother! The beds are so comfortable you'll want to take it home with you. You will love staying at this place, don't miss it!

My husband and I stayed at the Storybook Inn last weekend and had a wonderful time. Elise and her staff were amazing. From the moment we walked in the door I knew we were in the right place! The smell, ambiance, and hospitality were just what I had hoped to experience. God has blessed Elise with a special gift!
We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful environment of the inn & its surroundings--wonderful atmosphere, beautifully decorated. The cottage was lovely, with a well-equipped kitchen. We were spoiled each afternoon, as delicious sweets were waiting for us when we returned from our outings!
The breakfasts were amazing,& we appreciated the attention paid to our preferences & Elise's culinary expertise.Overall, she is a delightful, knowledgeable hostess.
The weekend we spent at the Storybook Inn was a fantastic trip form Cincinnati, OH The Inn is beautiful and the best food we have experienced at a Bed & Breakfast. For our area AAA should list this place as excellent 1 tank trip for anyone in the Cinti. area.
My wife and I stayed 6 days in the Huntsman Cottage. We were joined the last 2 days by our daughters, ages 11 and 14. Elise and her staff were warm, gracious, and hospitable - even Nick the Poodle. The Inn is beautiful and inviting. The breakfasts are delicious and filling. I could not recommend this B&B any higher.
What sets this Inn apart from the rest is the ambiance and relaxation. From the moment you step inside the hallway, you feel instant sense of warmth and comfort.
The rooms are immaculate. The beds are comfortable and warm, and if you do not feel like getting out of them, you will once you have had Elise's breakfast. Complete with fine crystal, and the finest of settings, you will be amazed at the creations served to you each morning.
The Bluegrass area of Kentucky is one of the most spectacular places in the world, and A Storybook Inn is the perfect place to experience it's charms. It's location is perfect. The service and ambiance were above all expectations. My room was magical, and I truly was able to escape back to a kinder, gentler pace of life. Hope to be back soon, and see the evolution of the seasons.
This place is a hidden gem! we Stayed at the farm and it was so peaceful and incredibly charming, clean and up to date. We ate breakfast at the INN and Elise was so sweet and her breakfast's were out of this world. what we liked most about the food is that she has alot of knowledge on healthfoods and eating healthy and she made her breaksfasts incredibly delicious but still maintaining the health factor. I had no idea healthy could taste so irresistable! The rooms at the inn all were themed nice too. the Casablanca room was our favorite in appearance. Although we did not stay at the Inn, Elise gave us a tour one morning after breakfast. I would rate this beautiful place 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone we know. we will definately go back if we are in the area again. it is a great place to stay if you are traveling to the Bourbon trails.
After getting married at Storybook Inn two years ago, we returned this fall for our anniversary. This Inn is truly a gem and couldn't be located in a more beautiful part of Kentucky. Elise and her wonderful staff made our stay a memorable one. My husband and I hope to return many many times!
This is the best B&B we have ever been in. The accomadations were wonderful. Everything was better than a 5 star hotel and we plan on returning. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and presented. The little touches (drinks, snacks, wine, heated towel racks, hairdryers, bathrobes) make this establishment stand out from the rest.
I recently had the pleasure of spending two idyllic nights at A Storybook Inn. The Casablanca Suite was gorgeously decorated and incredibly comfortable (great bed!) and the Inn & Innkeeper are gracious and welcoming. I particularly loved the scrumptious breakfasts (peach bread pudding with fresh berries; eggs Benedict with asparagus) which I enjoyed on the enclosed veranda overlooking the garden and koi pond. Lovely!!
Our experience at A Storybook Inn exceeded every expectation we had about staying in a bed & breakfast. From the moment we walked in the door, the charming staff made us feel like family - the kind that goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome in their home. Indeed, this beautiful old house is a home. The very walls seemed to reverberate with joy and love. Our brief stay was a respite from our hectic lives. We felt so at peace that we did not want to leave. A Storybook Inn is a special place. Elise, the innkeeper, and Caroline, the cook, are beautiful, faith-filled ladies who listened to God’s call and are doing exactly what they were meant to do – cherishing their guests as though they might be entertaining angels. We are definitely going back!
My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay at the inn. Our room was very comfortable and charming. Elise was very helpful with information on activities and the best places to eat. She is a wonderful innkeeper----warm and kind.
We went away for a relaxing vacation and we got it! The Inn was beautiful, Elise was wonderful, and the food outstanding. Coudln't ask for anything more.
This B&B is above & beyond leisure, luxury and southerness. the home is divinely furnished & appointed. the food was indescribably delicious & the atmosphere and service were well above par. Lookout, Blackberry Farm!!
My wife and I have stayed in many B&Bs over the years. Our litmus test for hotels, restaurants and B&Bs is the question; “would we come back?” Storybook Inn is of the few B&Bs where we look forward to visiting again. The Inn is wonderfully and tastefully decorated and at the same time very comfortable. The large outdoor screened in patio overlooking the grounds and gardens is especially relaxing with a glass of wine. The breakfast was great and Elise has obviously been blessed with the gift of service. She has not missed any detail of comfort and convenience. We appreciate the “Casablanca” experience she has afforded us.
Brights, Atlanta
Elise and her staff invited us in with the smell of fresh backed goodies. The house is very comfortable with b eds that beg to be napped in! The gourmet food is generously served!
My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at A Storybook Inn. The entire place was immaculate, and the breakfast was sumptuous. My husband special ordered an all fruit breakfast, and they gave him a big, beautiful bowl full. The tea served with breakfast was extraordinary. We stayed in the Huntsman's Chase Cottage where there were extra goodies everywhere from bubble baths to banana bread and chocolates to the choicest of fruit. The hostess, Elise, was exquisitely gracious, and she even offered to take photographs of us around her elegant home. What a wonderful time we had!
We love A Storybook Inn! We recently returned from our second stay, and it was just as wonderful as the first time - maybe even more so, if that is possible. We have already booked for next year's trip and cannot wait to return. Thanks Elise!
My husband and I stayed at the Inn during our first outing to the Kentucky Derby. The accommodations were wonderful and the staff so delightful, we could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. The house and gardens themselves are spectacular, but Elise and team make the Inn truly special with personal touches that make it feel like home.
If you have not experienced A storybook Inn, then you have missed one of lifes best pleasures. Elise may just be the warmest human on earth, then throw in the best breakfast with warm and charming suites and cottage, and you have the dream vacation.
She also made the best birthday cake I have had in my 37 birthdays, a mouth-watering peanut butter and chocolate cake to die for. The vacation of a lifetime.
A friend and I recently stayed at A Storybook Inn and were enchanted with every aspect of our visit. We could not have asked for greater hospitality or comfort. All our needs were anticipated and accommodated. The inn is lovely in every way and the innkeeper oversees its operation with meticulous attention to detail. The breakfasts are truly extraordinary.
Storybook Inn surpassed all of our expections - especially the meals and friendly service. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious and very clean. Elise couldn't have been more helpful and Carolyn is an outstanding chef. I wouldn't change a thing
Having traveled extensively around the world and stayed at some amazing venues the Storybook rates at the highest level. This was real hospitality with exceptional service and food. We will be back!!
Elise obviously loves being an innkeeper! She and her helper Carolyn think of every detail when catering to their guests. They are so warm and gracious, and my sisters and I felt very welcome in the beautifully appointed surroundings. The beds were so comfortable, we could hardly get up in the morning ... but we knew a magnificent breakfast awaited, so that's what motivated us! We look forward to returning!
We received everything that we were expecting and more..great food, very relaxing atmosphere, and excellent service. I would highly recommend A Storybook Inn to anyone interested in a memorable getaway. The Huntsman Chase Cottage was very cozy and comfy. We will definitely return.
We've been to many bed and breakfast inns in the past, but nothing matches A Storybook Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were treated not only as family, but as honored guests. Our accomodations were superb - I can't think of a thing I would change. Every detail was thought out - there was even a flashlight in the bedside table drawer. Our room was lovely (Gone with the Wind suite) with a huge king sized bed, sitting room, and bathroom with a double shower. We were there for three days and every breakfast was perfect and delicious. Fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, and a different entree each day that was gourmet quality. You definitely don't go away hungry, which has happened to me in some B & B's. The grounds were beautiful - an enclosed garden with fountain, a huge fenced front yard with a beautiful carpet of green lawn, ample parking in the back. An added bonus was a park (one block away) that had a little stream and walking trails - perfect after our breakfast. All in all, I would definitely go back to A Storybook Inn the next time we're in Lexington. Elise (the proprietor) and Carolyn will make you feel very special indeed. I highly recommend this B & B.
WOW!
The B&B that you'd picture in your mind's eye, with the incredibly gracious and hospitable staff AND owner, beutiful decor, inviting atmsphere, delicious food, courteous and lovely guests....well, THIS is that place!!!
This was our first visit but surely not our last. I had tried my best to make this a trip my wife would love, and Elise and Carolyn made it such a pleasurable experience, my wife wanted to move in!!
If you have the opportunity to stay at this gem of a B&B, do yourself a favor and book it without hesitation. Just don't take my dates!!! :)
In a recent trip to Lexington Ky. my wife and I randomly booked 3 nights lodging at the Storybook Inn. We can not begin to say how pleased we were with our choice. With many B&B stays in our past we have never encountered such high standards of lodging, meals, and service. The accommodations were impeccable, the breakfast outstanding and the service second to none. The Storybook Inn is definitely a place we will frequent when visiting Lexington.
Surpassed our expectations!! Warm Welcome, service & wonderful food, tasteful decor and extremely comfortable bed. Location is excellent in the heart of horse country. The drive from the Inn to Midway on Hwy. #62 was breath-taking!! A truly serene & peaceful experience.
My husband and I just wrapped up a lovely stay at The Storybook Inn. It is a wonderful property with beautiful furnishings, and Elise and Carolyn are as welcoming and hospitable as can be. Breakfasts are delicious and filling. The inn is perfectly situated for those who wish to experience the stunning horse country, and a variety of nice restaurants are nearby. We wouldn't hesitate for a second to refer friends to this warm and peaceful escape location.
My family and I had the distinct pleasure to spend a few days in one of the most beautiful B & B's we have ever visited. Although we frequent B & B's all over the world, our preference over Hotels, the Storybook Inn surpassed even our highest expectations. Beautiful original artwork, and decorated to the "t" with historical furniture pieces. Truly gorgeous, yet cozy and relaxing for breakfast in the formal dining room or reading in the parlor or library. Do not miss an opportunity to visit and stay in this B & B as you will feel you have been invited into one of the stunning southern homes as a guest rather than a patron.
What a magical weekend! Elise made the weekend really special. Not only were candles lit and music playing in the room upon our arrival, but Elise took the time to help us make dinner reservations and plan some sightseeing trips as well. She is just lovely. She made us feel right at home. The house was exquistely decorated but yet very comfortable and the food was delicious. We stayed in the My Fair Lady suite but are hoping to try out Gone With the Wind on a return trip. Thank you again, Elise!!
A Storybook Inn provided my husband and I with a quiet, relaxing weekend away from our usual life with two little girls. Elise and her staff were so nice and welcoming, and the Inn itself could not have been more lovely!
My husband and I were able to get away to A Storybook Inn recently after far too many months of hectic schedules. We had a wonderful time. The Inn is gorgeous and the room was more than ample and charming. The ammenities of the Inn were wonderful even though we chose not to use many of them as we ventured off for dinner and an evening out in Versailles and nearby Lexington. I would highly reccomend A Storybook Inn to anyone and I know that we will back!
Never have my husband and I stayed in a B&B like this one! We spoke with Elise before our stay and she carefully tailored every detail of our trip so that we were comfortable. We had a snow storm during our stay and we were secretly hoping to be snowed in so that our stay could be extended! To help us enjoy our winter weather, Elise even went so far as to go and buy sleds so that we could play and enjoy the snow! The food was incredible and planned to our preferences. The homemade treats set out throughout the house was definetly an added bonus. We fell in love with the man of the house, Nicholas, an adorable BIG poodle that had the sweetest disposition. The rooms were remarkable and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. A Storybook Inn has set the bar so high in B&B standards that I am not sure we could ever stay anywhere else! We cannot waite to go back!!!
Rachel and I have stayed in about a dozen B&B's, and A Storybook Inn is easily tops among them. The house and suites are very clean, and remain comfortable while being decorated exquisitely.
We had our wedding there, and took advantage of the beautiful seasonal decorations to add to the atmosphere. We were able to comfortably fit 30-40 people inside the Storybook Inn, with room for more. For a springtime wedding, the surrounding courtyard and grounds would be available to accommodate more guests.
Elise was thoughtful, courteous, and professional, and Rachel and I look forward to our next visit to A Storybook Inn.
The Storybook Inn is a lovely B&B. Elise has thought of everything to make your stay memorable. The Inn is extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The beds are oh, so comfortable. Breakfast served on the screened porch or in the formal dining room is delicious. Elise was very attentive to my husband's special diet. She is a knowledgeable and gracious hostess - very helpful with dinner reservations and advice on what to do and see. This B&B is outstanding!
The property was well taken care of and historically charming. Our innkeeper went above our expectations with generous and warm attention to details to fresh (extra) flowers, fruit, candy, desserts in our cottage to taping a bag of creamers on our door.
My mom found this bed and breakfast online, and took me there for my birthday. It was wonderful, fun experience. Elise was very warm, and very hospitable. She even brought me fresh flowers for my bedside. You can tell she loves what she does, she serves with much joy in her heart. The food was incredible!!! I would love to go back again real soon.
Wow! Words cannot describe how wonderful this Inn is. The bedrooms were immaculate, as well as the rest of the house. It is a grand old fortress that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The Innkeeper, Elise greets you with a warm smile and really goes out of her way to see to your needs. She gave us great tips on where to eat and sights to see. She makes herself very available and answered all of our questions that we had about the area. We experienced many of Elise's special touches during our three day stay. We had fresh flowers in our room, and complimentary chocolates, popcorn, sodas, and water were available for everyone. It was especially nice at the end of the day to come "home" and have a glass of wine and a fresh baked goody. The breakfast's that Elise prepared were delicious and plentiful. She has a wonderful helper named Carolyn. We looked forward to breakfast in the mornings on the porch as Carolyn always had a smile on her face, and couldn't do enough for us. Her and Elise are a great team and they make it look easy to run a Bed and Breakfast. Their only goal was making sure our stay was the best it could be. In our hurry up world of today it was wonderful to be pampered, and to truly feel that you were put first. Thank you so much.
All the Best,
Greg and Sandy
My husband and I travel often and have stayed at many "4 Diamond" and Registry Select Inns, etc. - A Storybook Inn is by far the best we've ever experienced! Elise forgets no detail in insuring her guests enjoy a luxurious and unforgettable experience. The Inn and surroundings are so incredibly beautiful, and with the care and attention given to every detail - it's no wonder this place is called "A Storybook Inn"!!!
We only stay at B&Bs and Inns and were fortunate to discover and stay in Storybook soon after it opened in 2005. Since then when we visit the Lexington area we look forward to staying at A Storybook Inn and letting Elise take care of us. Elise is a warm, gracious, beautiful person who truly enjoys taking care of her guests. Being from the area, Elise knows the best places to go for everything. The rooms at Storybook are just as fabulous. I love the attention to detail and the wonderful mattresses on the beds. It is hard to leave all this royal treatment behind when it is time to return to the real world.
My husband and I spent a weekend here for our 28th wedding anniversary and were extremely impressed. We have visited many B&Bs across the country and this is by far one of the very best. Elise is a gem and knows exactly how to fill the needs of her guests. Being an outstanding cook doesn't hurt either! We will definitely return to Storybook in the future.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at this B&B, and it is now my favorite of all we have visited. It was a terrific combination of an elegant atmosphere and "at-home" feeling. The beautiful home was spotless, had a wonderful library and relaxing sunporch, and an excellent massage therpaist I utilized. The innkeeper has a true passion for sincere hospitality and I was blown away by her "healthy decadence" at breakfast. She was such a joy to talk with and the home and little town was just the little retreat away we needed. We will definitely return to try another room!
If you are dreaming of getting away to a place that is far from ordinary, may be suggest The Storybook Inn. It is exceptional in every way. Elise, the Innkeeper, provides the ultimate service and yet gives you ultimate privacy. She prepares her Inn for your visit and when you arrive, you are welcomed with grace and warmth. This B & B has it all--it nourishes you by delighting each and every one of your senses. Beautiful horse farms and exceptional restaurants are nearby for your enjoyment. But for us, it was the tranquility of the Inn that we most enjoyed. We departed, realizing that we had discovered a very special place, a place truly worthy of a return visit.

Neither words of extraordinary eloquence, nor images of artistic acclaimation could adequately capture the rapturous delight which I experienced during my all too brief stay at the appropriately named A Storybook Inn. The incomparable beauty, comfort, and service are what await all who are fortunate to visit this oppulent oasis in the heart of Kentucky. The Innkeeper and her staff extraordinarily anticipate and graciously satisfy their guests' every need with unmatched southern hospitality and charm. To miss a night at A Storybook Inn is to miss an experience of a lifetime in lodging excellence.
The Storybook Inn without a doubt the most elegant place I have ever stayed. There are no "cut corners" in this Inn and everything from the beautiful decor to the details that make each room special shows evidence of "only the best." Elise is the most gracious hostess and I felt pampered and special throughout my stay. The incredible breakfast was fresh, wholesome, delicious and presented as if by a French chef! I will never forget this restful retreat and will DEFINITELY be back again!
a beautiful, comforting, elegant house. the suites are amazing- exquisitely decorated with fresh flowers, fluffy beds, and unique attention to detail. the breakfast was unbelievable. elise is exceptionally professional and warm. her blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit, and organic coffee were melt in your mouth. do stop in if you are ever in ky!
I could not have been more pleased with our September wedding at Storybook Inn. It is truly one of the most beautiful garden settings I have seen. Elise was so helpful and courteous from planning to the wedding day. The inn inself is magnificent. You definitely feel like you have stepped back in time at Storybook (without giving up the modern conveniences of course!) My husband and I visited several potential locations for our wedding and nowhere even came close to Storybook Inn.
Attention to every detail, newly refurbished and decorated, warm and gracious hostess, delicious food, elegant but comfortable rooms - you just want to snuggle up and read a book all afternoon.
We were already in love with Versailles, Lexington and Midway. The Storybook Inn now gives us just one more reason to want to visit every year! The Inn is gorgeous beyond description, and Elise goes out of her way to make everything just perfect, from the accomodations to the amazing breakfasts. Truly a top tier B&B.
Step back into a time of grace and elegance. That is what Storybood Inn is all about. The beautiful setting and hospitality is part of the charm of this inn. A "must do again" getaway!
The Storybook Inn is truly a wonderful getaway! We stayed in the Gone With The Wind suite for our anniversary, and it was heaven!!! The inn's decor is very well done, lovely artwork throughout. The breakfast was gourmet all the way; the first morning Elise served amaretto french toast with fresh berries and real maple syrup, delicious. There were snacks and wine set out every evening for us to enjoy. And lots of extra amenities in our suite. The massage therapist that comes to you at the inn was the icing on the cake! Many wonderful little shops and resturants just moments from the inn. And of course the beautiful Kentucky horse farms!
