My husband and I were looking for a place to stay for a weekend. I did find this B & B on line and liked the reviews. I must say that it exceeded my expectations. I usually stay in a hotel but I would absolutely recommend this Inn and the Innkeepers to any one going to Newport. They made our stay totally delightful!
This was my 3rd B & B in Newport and by far the best. The place was very charming, clean and inviting. The location was perfect, closer to the beach and cliff walk but still close to the main strip that you could easily walk there. The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. If you are going to stay at a B&B in Newport, this is the one to stay at.
The best part is the location. While reading about what to do in Newport, I learned there is a ferry from Jamestown to Newport. I checked the map and couldn't believe that the ferry is about 1 block away from the B&B! It was perfect - and fun- to take the ferry to Newport. Rusty has discount tickets available. Jamestown is a great little town with good restaurants within walking distance. There are lots of magazines to read, daily newspapers, tea available in the evenings, fresh fruit each morning, large rooms, pretty and very clean bathrooms, nice linens. Very comfortable and relaxing.
An absolutely wonderful inn with great atmosphere and wonderful service. Harry and his crew really make you feel welcome. We stayed two nights; quickly wished we had arranged to spend three, but we'll be back.
We had a great stay at the Victorian Ladies over 4th of July. The rooms were very nice and location is great. Right near the entrance to the Cliff walk. The parking was tight and we had to find a street spot, but found one easily just a block away. I am gluten free and they were very accommodating with my allergy. I would definitely recommend this B&B.
Our room was lovely and so comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was absolutely delicious as well! The innkeeper was very hospitable and had great recommendations for dining and exploring in Newport. We would come back to stay at Victorian Ladies Inn the next time we get to visit Newport!
We had a wedding to go to the weekend of May 31 and decided we would turn it into a weekend get away! Our time spent at the Lionel Chaplain Guest house was delightful! We stayed in the Captain's room and loved the cozy open feel of it!! The location of the Inn could not be beat as we were near all the hot spots and view of the bridge into Newport and just a short drive away! We would recommend this Inn to any friend and family!
Cheryl and Harry were so nice and accommodating. The inn felt like a home and we were so comfortable there. The location was great...a little away from town, but right near the cliff walk and the mansions. We spent a rainy morning chatting with the owners and other guests at breakfast and it was very relaxed. I would definitely stay there again.
The price is so worth it! The rooms are beautiful and each is uniquely decorated. Breakfast had so many delicious, fresh, and homemade options. Afternoon tea was a true delight. Harry, Cindy, and Katherine are friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the area. Can't wait to visit again!
Just returned this week from an outstanding visit to Newport, RI. It was our first time to visit. I'm not typically a big fan of B & Bs, but the Victorian Ladies Inn has changed my mind. The family and staff, all go out of their way to be accommodating. Cindy, the Manager helped us make decisions on where to eat and which mansions to visit during our four day stay. Our room was large and immaculate. The bathroom was quite nice - the beds were very comfortable, and I would say it was as close to being at home, as I have experienced traveling. The breakfasts were great with a large selection of food from fresh fruit, yogurts, a freshly baked cake each day, and four different breakfast selections each morning. At 4pm they offer tea and cookies, which were outstanding! The Inn is located in a great place, right on a main drag and close to the Cliff Walk, Mansions, and fine dining. Guess you can tell we will be back to visit TheVictorian Ladies Inn!
A wonderful place to rest the body, mind, and soul. "A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part."
This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast and we could not be more pleased. The room we stayed in (Point Garden) had a lovely balcony off the bath that looked over the garden and the room had several time appropriate pieces. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Also, the tower is something not to miss! The views of the harbor are spectacular. The breakfast was outstanding. Great fresh bagels and muffins from Bryan's bagel shop and a delicious spread of fruits, eggs, hash browns and meat. Bryan was extremely knowledgable about Newport and it was a delight to converse with him and the guests during breakfast. We would return in a heartbeat!
My husband and I stayed her for our anniversary and it was just perfect. Very well maintained stunning building in a great location. Quiet side street but within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Newport harbor. The Inn was very clean and comfortable. Very enjoyable winter get away.
We could tell it was going to be a great stay the second we arrived. Bryan, our host, cordially greeted us and within minutes we were introduced to other guests and started the tour of the house. The collection of antiques is amazing and Bryan had a story to go with each one. We stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay and each room had a decor that show cased unique furnishings. The inn looks across the street to the ocean. The most magnificent view was from the tower. Bryan warned us not to forget to bring our camera. There are common areas and nooks throughout the house where one can tuck away and read, play games or sip brandy. There was a bowl of fruit and cookies in the foyer during the entire stay. I never made it past the cookies without taking one! Breakfast was a royal spread which always included something hot from the kitchen along with other fixings which included fresh bagels and muffins from Bryan's Bagel shop that were on the table when we arrived at the dining room. Bryan is a native of Newport so he is able to share town history, recommend restaurants, and advise you on sights to see. In summary we had a great time. Check it out! A&B Smith
Had a wonderful weekend at The Victorian Ladies Inn in Newport last week. Room was very well appointed, comfortable and the gas stove made it very homey. But breakfast was the most outstanding part of the stay. Fresh fruit, juice and buffet before a choice of four entrees. I had the Eggs Newport, poached eggs over a huge crab cake with, I think, Hollandaise sauce. Delicious! And the service was superb. Already panning a return visit for spring.
Our stay at the Victorian Ladies in was simply outstanding. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. Our host was extremely kind, informative, and went the extra step to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The room was just as pictured and just what we wanted. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. We hope to make it back here again.
We have been returning to VLI for the past 3/4 years and we absolutely love it there! The rooms are eloquently decorated and immaculate, and the food is nothing short of spectacular! A complimentary breakfast is included with the price of your room, including fresh fruit, home made coffee cake, scones, croissants and more! That is only the beginning! They also prepare a main dish, from a luscious, crispy orange french toast (one of our favorites) to a specialty omelette, you won't be disappointed! Cindy, the innkeeper, is such a gracious host and very accommodating as well. It is only a short walk to the cliff walk, and less than a mile walk into town. They have rooms in the main house and 2 other houses as well. Every room we have stayed in has been simply charming including the ambiance of a cozy fireplace, king beds and quaint decor. Don't miss this fabulous hidden treasure of Newport!
We had a great weekend stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn. Our stay was great, with the breakfast being the only less-than-great element of the stay. Omelet was bland, greasy, and uninspiring.
We enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Victorian Ladies Inn, from being greeted warmly at check-in by Cindy, relaxing in our lovely and comfortable room and enjoying a fabulous breakfast the following morning. We have been coming to this Inn for at least 6 years now, and we always enjoy our stay and the camaraderie of other guests. We have already booked our room for our next visit in November. Coming here feels like coming home.
I stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn in early November. I had called in advance and told them I would be a late arrival. The person I spoke with on the phone was very helpful and told me exactly where to find my room key. When I got there is was dark, but the place had a very home feeling. Our room was very nice; we stayed in the Louise Room. This room has an electric fireplace which is a very nice addition. I found that staying in the carriage house was a better experience then staying in the main inn. In the carriage house, each room has it's own heating unit which I find wonderful since I often times am colder than others around me. There are less rooms so you don't hear many people going up and down the staircase. I liked that this B&B had their own parking rather than street parking. The breakfast there was very good and was made to order. They had a cold breakfast buffet and then a hot meal. The innkeeper was there every morning and asked us how everything was and asked if we needed anything. His assistant was very knowledgeable and gave us a map of the area and gave us suggestions of places to go. They did say that buying mansion tickets with them would have been cheaper, but I found that buying the value package was actually a better value. The nightly rate I found to be very fair for the area and especially for how nice the establishment was. Overall, this was an exceptional place to stay and my boyfriend (who has stayed in other B&Bs) said this was one of the nicest that he had ever seen.
