Our long weekend at Elmwood Farm Bed and Breakfast exceeded our expectations in every way. Our hosts were warm and welcoming to us and even made our dog feel right at home! The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully served in their lovely dining room. We especially enjoyed touring the restored farm house and grounds and visiting the many historic locations in the surrounding area.
I can not say enough about our weekend stay at Hillbrook Inn & Spa. We stayed in The Point which was quaint and clean. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner while there and they were able to meet my vegetarian diet with perfection. The massage spa services both me and my husband had were relaxing and rejuvenating. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We booked a wine tour for our last day and it was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend. Thank you Hillbrook, we will come back again. Marie L
Stayed at the Fall Cottage, clean, beautiful, very comfortable. Dined at Hillbrook 6 pm 4 course dinner, exceptional meal, attentive staff, romantic atmosphere. Recieved couples massage, one hour hot stone massage, great staff, total relaxation. Overall Hillbrook Inn and Spa is top notch and my favorite bed and breakfast.
I surprised my wife for her 35th birthday with a night stay here at the Farmhouse in the Summit Suite. There were a few minor nitpicks with the rooms (some windows not having screens, one of the windows didn't stay open), but overall it was very beautiful and very well kept. We enjoyed the 5 course candlelit dinner, which was absolutely delicious. The staff was very accommodating and considerate. The following morning, we had the couples massage service at the Gatehouse Spa on site, which was great as well. The weekend was a big hit with my wife, and we will definitely consider staying here in the future. Thank you!
This is a hidden WV secret that we have enjoyed for the fifth time. It is always a wonderful experience to have fine dining available at the inn you visiting for the night. The five course menu always delights and breakfast the next morning has been consistently well made. The staff aims to please and accommodates any service or dietary request that we have posed. You will enjoy your stay here.
This was not our first visit, which should tell you how much we enjoy ourselves. My wife and I try to go in the spring and fall. We always have a wonderful time. Rachel and Jonathan are consummate hosts. Rachel does a great job with breakfast. Because of our diets, we cannot do sugar, which she always accommodates. This trip we did something new: we had a picnic dinner prepared by Rachel in their backyard garden. It was a delicious meal and much fun. I highly recommend taking advantage of the picnics. We have already registered for the fall leafing season!
This was a great get away for me and my close friend. Everythig from the room to the service was top notch. We wished we had booked 2 nights, we didnt want to leave. Staff was wonderful. Thanks again!
Stayed in the Serenity Suite for our babymoon. Grounds are well maintained, suite was large and had many amenities. Staff was very attentive. Breakfast was filling, try the 5 course dinner, amazing food! We loved our stay!!!
This is a charming historic inn at the foothills of the Shenandoah National Park. Wonderful location, close to all sorts of cute Virginia towns. Really a great weekend stay. Thanks for the great hospitality.
The Bed and Breakfast was beautiful and so was our room the Gardenia Suite. Unfortunately our gift certificates from Bedandbreakfast.com where not honored (The innkeepers had already charged the credit card we used to hold the reservation and said they could not reverse the charge) even though I informed Brian ahead of time that we we had enough gift certificate credit to cover the entire stay. Aside from that my only complaint would be the coffee station in the hall. It was nothibg but a water boiler and instant coffee. Might want to invest in a Keurig All in all it was a very nice stay that could have been a bit nicer. Breakfast was very good.
This lovely B&B is just over an hour from DC, so it was a perfect escape from the city life that my partner and I needed. We stayed in a gorgeous room that had a fantastic large tub that was absolutely luxurious. We also had a delicious breakfast the next morning -- home cooked to order and the owners of the B&B were gracious, friendly and charming. We will definitely be back for another special occasion!
There is an exquisite retreat hidden in Boyce, Va where you can enjoy World class five star dining & be pampered with idyllic Country Charm, and simply escape from the stress of a hectic workplace.
I've just returned from a wonderful weekend in Shepherdstown, where I was completely spoiled by innkeepers Lauren and Dave at the Thomas Shepherd Inn. The furnishings are exquisite and the location is perfect (on the charming main street, very close to the fabulous Press Room restaurant, and just a 10 minute walk from the campus of Shepherd University). Best of all, the hospitality and food are amazing. Breakfasts include at least two courses: a starter smoothie or soup (apple soup and strawberry soup were even better than the mango smoothie) and then a gourmet baked entree, a side of fresh fruits or vegetables, and a side of local meat. Locally-roasted coffee is delicious and homemade muffins can be taken to go if you don't have room left after your morning feast. Thanks, Dave and Lauren!
We purchased a Living Social voucher and were so amazed with our stay. We also did a wine tour - with Andy as our guide. It was so wonderful. He was great and informative and made the tour very enjoyable. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Inn and were very happy with our meals. We ended the stay with a spa visit ... a massage and a facial - what a wonderful experience. The only downside - if you stay in the Point, is that you can hear the kitchen activity below you in the evening and the early morning. Other than that, we couldn't have asked for more at our time at Hillbrook. Will definitely visit again.
Hillbrook Inn & Spa exceeded our expectations. We arrived at check-in and was warmly greeted. Ricardo was wonderful--funny, knowledgeable. The welcome drink and tour was a wonderful touch. The history of the building/property really enhances the experience. The room was "dreamy" at the Hawthorn House. I loved having a fireplace and the shower was to die for. Our couples massage was the best massage I have had. The spa is very comfortable and clean. I was nervous about dinner since I am a picky eater and typically have buyers remorse when it comes to expensive food. The five-course dinner at Redbook Restaurant was amazing. I tried items I normally wouldn't and loved them all. Breakfast the next day did not disappointment either. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
People and facilities are charming and welcoming at this comfortable Inn. All meals and snacks are delicious and there is a lovely new bar and ample cocktail/wine availability.
An outstanding three night stay in late February. The inn is quaint and unique, with a gracious, hospitable and friendly staff. We enjoyed the history of the area during the day and lovely accommodations with a wood burning fireplace in the evening. We think the breakfasts were some of the best we've ever had in our B&B travels.
There aren't words in the English language that hold enough caliber to properly describe the quality of service at the Hillbrook Inn and Spa. At the zenith of the hierarchy of customer service stands Ricardo. Although our time together was only brief, this gentleman deserves an award for his outstanding customer service. He is confidently personable, conversational, intelligent to the degree that I actually walked away with the desire to further my research on some of the topics we discussed/debated i.e. fine wine, exotic cuisine, both modern and archaic cinema, etc. I will be making many a return journey and Ricardo is one of the main reasons for this fact. It will be a dark day when he finally decides to retire. And service doesn't diminish apart from Ricardo either! The front desk (Marcy, I believe) of the Inn was a delight to deal with and made everything incredibly easy. -- "Give my regards to the chef" (Justin, if I'm not mistaken). -- The food was barre none some of the most delectably fantastic, both in regards to the pallet and also aesthetically. The novelty of each dish added a surprising facet that I have not seen replicated at any other "fine dining" locus. And I don't want to disregard the wait staff as they also were extremely friendly, helpful and facilitated the wagging of the tongue amongst ALL of the patrons at the dinner tables on the evening I was blessed enough to sit down for dinner. Even breakfast was carefully administered and myself and my date were blown away by the attention to detail combined with the incredible flavor. It is positively apparent that the guests of Hillbrook are the top priority of the staff and, as a (self-proclaimed) experienced traveler, I cannot express enough how gloriously refreshing it is to be treated as kings and queens for a day. And I think I speak for every one of your patrons when I express that sentiment.
A truly extraordinary experience in every regard from check-in to check-out. The accommodations, service and food were truly exceptional. Hillbrook Inn & Spa should be the only place someone considers staying when in the area.
