We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Surfside. There were many simple and special pleasures: the waves crashing outside our windows, the beach a few steps away, the comfortable and cozy room, delicious breakfasts. We were made to feel welcome and received good suggestions for our time. My husband and I had never been to Nova Scotia before. After our stay here we hope to return.
My Husband and I stayed at the Surfside Inn October 12/13. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite and booked the romance package. The package includes chilled champagne, chocolate truffles and a 3 course dinner for two. We were a tad bit disappointed to find that the chocolate truffles were simply 2 Ferrero Rocher chocolates however, our dinner was great! Hubby had the Prime Alberta Striploin and I had the Baked Atlantic Salmon, the cheesecake was delicious! The room was very clean and had a lovely view of the ocean. I grew up near the ocean and absolutely LOVED hearing the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. The sound lulled me to sleep. The jacuzzi tub is a nice feature however, the inn keeprs ask that guests refrain from turning on the jets when other guests may be sleeping. The contintental breakfast in the morning was light and refreshing. It included fruit, granola, yogurt, toast, juice and cofee - unfortunately, the coffee was cold. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the inn. We would definitely consider returning again.
My fiancé and I had visited this inn on a whim and had not heard anything about it prior to going. We booking the Surfside Retreat room, with the romance package. We when arrived the room was set up with chilled wine and delicious truffles, the room was extremely clean, along with the large double whirlpool. The food for the three course meal (which you choose the time you wish to eat) was absolutely amazing and some of the best food I have ever eaten. The scenery was beautiful with the beach across from the Inn. The hostess was very friendly and helpful, as well as the server during the meal. Everything was perfect for us. The service was great, the rooms were clean, the facility was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. We loved it so much, that we are set to go back in November 2013. Well worth the money spent.
The Waverley is a beautifully restored B&B yet with all the luxuries anyone could want. Furnished in lavish period antiques, it also has wifi, air conditioning, etc. It is conveniently located so that we could walk to restaurants, the waterfront, etc. which made our visit to Halifax more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. The breakfast was good but standard though I'm not sure how they could do it differently with the number of people that they are serving.
I had visited the Surfside Inn when Bill and Michelle were the owners. Ines, Alex and her parents now run the "B&B", and they smother you with hospitality and love! Rooms are very clean. The Jacuzzi Tubs were a pleasure. Whenever I wanted Lunch or Dinner, they were very agreeable to make my stay something special. They talked me into coming back in September! I would give them 5 STARS! It was worth the trip all the way from the West Coast. Robert
My husband and I spent a week at Surfside Inn. We took the smallest room and it was delightful. The small rooms are on a corner so you have two windows that offer a cross breeze and you can listen to the waves hitting the shore at night. The Inn is extremely clean and eclectic. Breakfast is healthy and Bill offers fresh brewed coffee served from a lovely sterling silver coffee pot. Also there is homemade jam, great granola, an assortment of bread and fresh fruit. Bill (the owner) is very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. We have stayed at more expensive Inns in the area and this Inn offers everything they offered and more. Thanks Bill for a wonderful week! Also, the trees we took home are still alive. Thanks for the the tools, etcetera, to get them. Much appreciated.
