We have stayed at Le Colombage 3 times, drawn back by the ambience and comfort of the accommodation, the location south of the Loire, handy to so many attractions, and the welcoming generosity of the hosts. The medieval façade of this village house is stunning, as are the beautiful antiques, many of which were made for the house. Le Colombage has everything you could want and more, for a short or long stay. Particularly useful are the laundry facilities, the free wifi, and free calls to international landlines! We were able to have a good long chat to family at home in Australia. The town is a typical French medieval village, very pretty to stroll around, with a stunning castle right in town. The boulangerie, restaurants and small supermarket are very good, while the nearby markets are fantastic sources of fresh local produce, curiosities and entertainment. It is lovely driving around the countryside, which is lush and undulating, on the way to nearby historic towns and castles. There is a folder full of ideas for excursions, and the hosts of Le Colombage are not only entertaining, but a wealth of local information having lived in this part of France for years. Their breakfast is very good, and a special treat, their dinner is superb!
