Miami River Inn

Great service and friendly staff room was cozy and a light breakfast hit the spot.

This was my first experience staying in a non-hotel. It was pleasant. The rooms and common areas were very beautiful. However, I was concerned about safety. The property is locked but walking in to the property at night made me uncomfortable because the neighborhood had a number of homeless people who take shelter under a bridge. So I would recommend that if you're by yourself you need to be careful. If you're with company this place is perfect and I would definitely choose it again. Internet was flaky in my room. Since I identified this only at night, I didn't want to bother the manager on duty too much (He was helpful and gave me many suggestions). After figuring out that the strength wasn't going to be much higher, I just worked from the main office lounge for a few hours at night. I might belong to a minority of people who may have needed high speed internet for work reasons, but I guess for most people simple browsing speeds would have been sufficient. Except for these couple of small hitches, the experience was very good.

We really enjoyed the jacuzzi, the old fashioned slightly charm. This is the "un-hotel" place to stay in Miami. We did not want the cookie cutter chain hotel, and this fit perfectly. The staff person we dealt with was very helpful and friendly. Just be sure to have your reservation number ready -- they did not have a record of my reservation from B&B.com -- also, I did not stay for breakfast, so no idea what it is like.

Because the entrance is on SW 2nd St., gated and locked and the small sign to the lobby is obscured by lush trees, it was a bit of a challenge to find and get into the Inn, but a phone call answered by Metris really helped. She came out and met us personally, gave us a tour of the many buildings that make up the Inn (which is on the National Register of Historic Places) as well as showing us the breakfast building, the pool, the large hot tub, and the garden/lawn.A glass of complimentary red wine and some great advice about where to find dinner had us settling in nicely. The building and room we were in brought back pleasant memories of my grandmother's house. We really enjoyed this quiet, safe location, the helpful folks, and the relaxing atmosphere.

A very cute place, very "old Miami" in a sweet "shabby chic" way, with a lovely outdoor area, and in a great location (the only B&B in Miami). It could be a truly fabulous place... but the service was odd with no one on duty most of the time (I went looing for staff on several occassions to no avail), no clock in the room, no phone to call the desk, no radio, and no possibility of a wake-up call (we had appointments to keep), no maid service or clean towels, etc. It is, however, the only B&B in Miami! The wine at the front desk was nice, as was the recommendation to a good nearby Cuban restaurant. There is free, gated parking, as well. We stayed here before going on a cruise.

Due to cold spell in Miami, room was very cold, took them a few hours to get room warmed up. Lighting in room not ideal. Breakfast was good

It was the first time that my husband and I stayed in a bed and breakfast, and overall it was a great experience. Reasonable price and convinient location. From Jane to the tenants everyone was super friendly.

it's better than we bargained for! the location was a bit intimidating to us at night, but during the day, once you cross that bridge, you're close to everything!

My husband and I went for a mid-week getaway to this moderately-priced B&B. The surrounding neighborhood is changing slowly, but you are utterly secure (your car too); my husband said, "Don't be put off, this is a hidden jewel." Charming, comfortable, welcoming. Breakfast is modest -- coffee is great! Tropical vegetation surround the patio & there were sweet, friendly kittens to pet. We ate at Garcia's Seafood Restaurant nearby which was also delightful.

Miami was the hardest place to decide on where to stay. I must of read 1000 reviews and decided on the Miami River Inn, based on these reviews. Our experience was not a positive one. The first impression you get is not that great, (I had read that in the reviews) But it was a bit of a shock to see the place surrounded by locked 8ft fences and some graffiti. The grounds were unkept looked like it needed some maintenance. We were shown to Room 22, the room was very small which you would expect from the time this was built. The furnishings was not that great. The next day our sink in the room became blocked. We went down to see them and they sent a girl up with a plunger which didn't work. They decided to move us to the room below. This was unbelievable, so large and very well furnished. I cannot understand why we were not given this room in the beginning, the Inn did not have many people staying there, and we were the only ones in that area of the Hotel for the entire 3 days. The thing one going for the place was its location to Town. Which was an easy walk. We still believe that we were given the first room because we went through B & B, cheap & nasty. If we ever came back again I would stay at North Beach. Would have cost the same.

Miami River Inn is a lovely and amazing place to stay with a reasonable price at the location.

Very charming older establishment. However, the bed was the most uncomfortable one I have every slept on - just sitting on it caused it to groan and squeek like it was going to collapse. Breakfast was a spartan self-service affair. The jacuzzi was not working.

This is a lovely, and unusual place to stay in Miami. We would not always seek to stay in Bed and Breakfast accommodation as opposed to hotel, but this was a great experience, and the Inn is very nice. it is convenient for both the airport and downtown Miami for travellers without a car, but when walking back from Downtown at night, the areas to walk through do not appear to be the safest, taking a cab or having own car would have been better. The inkeeper Jane Caporelli provides a personal and dedicated service, and we were sorry not to see her on day 2 of our stay, as it was the weekend.

I loved how this hotel reminded me of being out in the Bayou, even had a crab fishing port right out in front. The trees helped me forget I was in downtown Miami, the pool was cool on a hot hot day. the breakfest was great. never got any wine in the afternoon. We lived it up and had no complaints.

Finding a spot downtown to unwind... priceless. We found it so nice we decided to extend the stay - no problem for the innkeeper, quick and satisfactury service. See you next time in Miami!

great stay

Very nicely decorated spacious room, lovely swimming pool and very helpful staff. Nice breakfast, it was a great start to our honeymoon!

I have been a guess at the Miami River Inn for a few times & is a very pleasent place to stay. Rooms are clean & the staff helpful.
