  • La taberna de Silvermine (c1810) fue originalmente una fábrica de algodón, parte de la industria de agua que alimenta el río Silvermine. Más tarde una casa privada y, a continuación, un destino Inn y antigüedades, la taberna ha sido alojamiento de viajeros y servir fina cocina de Nueva Inglaterra desde el año 1929
    El porche frontal de la taberna es un lugar excelente para relajarse en un rockero y visitar con amigos o ver el mundo a ir.

    Desde su laringalizadas de pisos de madera y pinturas de la venerable ancestro a sus tradicionales Nueva-Inglaterra hospitalidad y antigüedades dosel camas, la taberna de Silvermine es todo lo que debe ser una posada de país: cálido, amigable, invitando a y rebosante de encanto. No se puede construir una posada de país con carácter como la nuestra. Tienes que darle tiempo. Y el tiempo – 200 años de historia-hacer de ella – es lo que ha hecho a la taberna de Silvermine un lugar tan especial que no desea dejar. Acurrucado por la cascada de un estanque de molino tranquila, la taberna sirve a sus huéspedes en de las vistas más serenos y calmantes en Connecticut. La ubicación suburbanos de peacful es sólo minutos de la fina restaurantes y atracciones de Norwalk sur, New Canaan y Wilton.

    Girl's weekend...12 years overdue!!

    My childhood friend and I decided to meet half-way between both of our towns. I live near Philadelphia and she lives near Boston. I came up with Norwalk Conn. and then found this wonderful B&B. The owner was our guide to everything that weekend...what a bonus! There were so many antiques in this place, we will have to go back many times to really take all of it in. What a wonderful time my we had and many memories where made. We needed the break and what a relaxing way to spend it, at the Sivermine Tavern. Also, there was an antique store across the street that was full of wonderful pieces of history too! We will be back for sure...my husband wants to go next time! I'll think about it:-)

    An historic disappointment

    As adventurous and intrepid travelers, we've stayed at more than a few "venerable" B&Bs over the years, and so were intrigued by this one. Unfortunately, the Silvermine fell way short of our expectations. The website photos gave no hint of the shabbiness we encountered, which extended to our room, where the paint was literally peeling from the woodwork, disgustingly so. The place smelled sour, too. The overall experience was as dispiriting as it was unacceptable. To state what should be obvious, being 200+ years old is not a license for neglect! It's sheer chutzpah to expect people to pay good money for such rundown, ill-maintained lodgings. There was one good thing about our stay: its brevity.

    Thanks for your comments. I see the paint problem that you’re talking about; I appreciate your bringing it to my attention. It is at the top of the To Do list and already underway. Maintenance is a constant effort in an antique building like ours. While we do our best to keep up, sometimes problems get overlooked. A fresh pair of eyes can spot things that have been overlooked. Most guests tell me how much they enjoy our setting by the mill pond, tree-shaded deck, historic neighborhood and many antiques. I hope you’ll return for another visit and have a more rewarding experience at Silvermine.

    great historic place

    The river behind was great to walk by and see the beautiful homes nearby. If you like feeling history, this is the place to stay. The innkeeper knows much history about the area as well.

    Norwalk Stay

    My daughter was moving to Norwalk CT. for her first job after college and I wanted to stay someplace special that had all the charm of new England rolled all up into one place. She loves those kinds of places rich in history so I didn't tell her where we were staying. What a beautiful setting nestled away down a New England road in the gently rolling hills on the old miner’s creek with all its dams and ponds. Such a surprise for her when we got there after driving 6 hours, quiet, charming full of history. Spent much of the next day relaxing and taking pictures. First time there but won't be the last, loved it!!! Paul and Diana (Roch. NY)
