Mill Rose Inn

We had never stayed at a bed & breakfast before and chose one from the bedandbreakfast.com site. The only one available for a last minute getaway was Mill Rose Inn. The inkeepers were very friendly, very accommodating, & very informative. They provided almost everything you could think of in the rooms and in the community areas. The room was very quaint with a gas fireplace. The had a private hottub in an enclosed gazebo. It was a very romantic area. In the morning they provided breakfast at 8 or 9 in your room or in the dining area. It was a very delicious breakfast, It was the best experience for first timer.

Upon arriving at the Mill Rose, we were greeted with a beautiful array of flowers and a warm, inviting Inn. The service was impeccable and the rooms beautiful and cozy. I woud highly recomend this inn.

My wife booked the Mill Rose Inn for a couple of nights, just for a weekend getaway. Didn't know what to expect, as soon that you walk into the gate you can see the passion of the Innkeepers because its like walking into a rose paradise. Terry is a caring very professional person,he will cater to any whim that you wish very accommodating. Lewis Louro We met Eve the next day what a lovely lady full of elegance with her hats, her cookies and slice of cakes that you can consume anytime are better than any dessert that you buy at restaurants,fresh and full of flavor. The gourmet breakfast that is served downstairs or room service by Terry is fantastic, rooms are very cozy and brilliant decorated for its age. There is wine and sherry all over the place I'm sure they are trying to get you drunk to have a good time, but there is no need because you have a private spa that you can have with your loved one, or spend time on a rainy day like we did watching hundreds of movies provided by Terry free of charge. We will be staying again.

Innkeepers Terry and Eve are nice people. Their Inn was the perfect place for our wedding anniversary getaway. Comfortable bed, premium linens, beautiful gardens, and lots of complementary extras. Planning to stay there again next year.

We came to Half Moon Bay on Sunday and stayed at the beautiful Mill Rose Inn for two nights. The hosts were very welcoming and were always available when needed. The garden is absolutely magnificent and the flowers were blooming profusely. Our room was upstairs and was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The breakfasts were very creative and absolutely delicious. I recommend that a shower bar be installed as there is nothing to hold onto for safety.

My husband and I stayed at the Mill Rose Inn during a trip down the coast, and we were so pleasantly surprised! The grounds and gardens are beautiful, and the hosts are incredibly helpful. They recommended a delicious restaurant (It's Italia) and made us reservations within minutes of our arrival. The rooms were beautiful and contained everything you might ever think you'll need on a stay away from home. And the food! Breakfast was two courses, served in our room, and consisted of champagne, blackberry cobbler, an amazing frittata, and more. Do yourself a favor and stay here. We wish we'd book more than one night!

What a wonderful, relaxing time. Everything was just perfect! Will certainly return here for more R & R.

Quiet, comfortable inn with great service, great breakfast in the room, and great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants but tucked away from any street noise.

The Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay way exceeded what we expected from a B&B. We thought the price was high until we saw all that you got for your money and now realize what a bargain it was. They anticipated every need and served fabulous breakfasts. Will go again. Bud and Barbara Reilly

My Husband and I stayed at the Mill Rose Inn for one night a few days after our wedding. Since we couldn't take a big honeymoon right away we chose to get away to this amazing retreat right off the downtown area of Half Moon Bay. We were blessed with amazing sunny weather (which is rare in Half Moon Bay) and we were able to enjoy a walk on the beach and the hot tub back at the Mill Rose. The room was incredibly comfortable and the inn keepers had so many little touches that made the experience so relaxing and all inclusive. The breakfast was amazing and included champagne. While the Mill Rose is a little on the expensive side it is worth it, especially if you're looking to spend some time with your significant other.

We loved everything about it. Close proximity to bay area, great hospitality, great breakfast.

From the abundance of roses to the gorgeous rooms, followed by exquisite service, this was one of the best experiences we've had.

Although we lived in San Francisco, The Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay was our favorite retreat. Innjeeps Terry and Eve are accommodating, gracious and welcoming. The rooms are special, luxurious and calming. Sure, we could have "retreated" in San Francisco, but just a short trip down to coast we found everything we needed. We no longer live in San Francisco, but we know that whenever we return for a visit a respite at the Mill Rose Inn absolutely has to be top of of list.

On a cold weekend in Half Moon Bay, the stay at the Mell Rose Inn made everything seem wonderful. Room was very confortable and inviting, service was exceptionable and the hot tub made all my aches and pains go away.

We loved visiting the Mill Rose 15 years after we were married there. Terry and Eve, the innkeepers, are outstanding - ready to meet any need. Our room was luxurious, the food was wonderful, and the flowers were blooming everywhere!

We were looking for a place to stay somewhere in between San Francisco and Los Angeles as we drove back from a weekend trip to the Napa Valley. I am so glad we found the Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay. I was absolutely astonished by the attention to detail, the service provided, the luxurious appointment of the rooms, the beautiful gardens and delicious breakfast. We were also told we could have a plate of wine, cheese and crackers in the evening, and although we didn't take Terry up on the offer, we did visit the dessert, coffee and tea table in the dining area. The private jacuzzi set in the lush garden was my favorite part. Classical music playing throughout the house, filled with antiques, flowers and gourmet candy dishes, creates an ambiance that immediately puts you in a peaceful mood. There were just hundreds of little perks that made this the best night in a hotel I have ever had!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Mill Rose Inn for our 14th Anniversary and were delighted by the Inn and our hosts. The ambiance was excellent, with well-cared for grounds, comfortable room, as well as the Inn itself. Terry was very attentive and helpful in procuring dinner reservations and sharing his knowledge of the area. On his recommendation, we visited "Filoli", featured on the program "America's Castles" and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We've lived in Northern California for 40+ years, and were unaware of this fabulous destination. Thanks to Terry, now we do. We've stayed in several Inns in the Half Moon Bay area, and can safely say our expereince at The Mill Rose tops them all. We recommend them without reservation. Bob and Caryl Lee

Stayed at the inn one night on the way to a wedding in San Jose. Everything was perfect from the beautiful grounds, to the clean pretty room and Terry's hospitality. The hot tub was a nice addition. Truly a relaxing time. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Mill Rose Inn is a beautiful building in outstanding gardens and within easy walking distance of an interesting little town.We found Terry a bit overwhelming at first.He gave us so much information we couldn`t take it all in,but as we got to know him we found him very helpful with information,recommendations to restaurants,recipes etc.We didn`t have time to take advantage of all the extras like the cheese board,wine,desserts but they all added to the welcome.My only criticism is about the bathroom ,where some of the floor tiles were cracked and the taps were shabby.Also we didn`t like the fridge and the coffee making facilities being right next to the toilet!

The hospitality was as wonderful as the beauty of the inn and gardens. From the daylong cookies and cake to the platter of cheese and fruit delivered to our room, enjoyed with complementary wine and other drinks, the perks kept coming. The private whirlpool in the lush garden was amazing. And the champagne breakfast was delicious! So much thought and love went into the details in the rooms, inn, and amenities.

I will agree with all the reviews on how lovely the gardens are, the rooms are beautiful, beds wonderful, parlor gorgeous in detail. In making my reservation I mention it was my husband birthday, it would have been nice if they acknowledge that in their handwritten note they left in our room upon arrival, as other Inns have done, some with balloon's, champagne, or chocolates.I love staying in Inn's & waking up to the smells coming from the kitchen, their were none & our room was right next to it. I believe the food was made the day before. Started out with a cobbler & it was good, then came the main dish, it didn't even look good, the frittata was very dry, not moist, the cheese on top looked worst, the banana bread was burnt & dry (they had to notice this) & it came with a slice of watermelon, thats it, no bacon or meat of any kind. They had to notice that we really did'nt eat much of it but never ask if everything was o.k. French pastries, there were none, fresh fruit, a slice of watermelon not really a breakfast fruit, home made bread, burnt, champagne we were not offer any. Seeing what I saw on their web site I thought I was in for a real treat that didn't happen. Everyone said how they enjoyed their cheese plate with wine, we had grapes, apple, & a dip that was o.k. no cheese (my husband really miss that). I'm glad everyone else had such great food it just did'nt happen for us. Might give the Inn another chance, but I love a good breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Mill Rose Inn 22 years ago on our honeymoon and we recently returned to celebrate our anniversay and were so happy we did! Everything at the Inn is exactly as we remembered and somethings are even better! We are not going to wait another 22 years to make a return trip, we may actually make a weekend stay an annual event.

Terry and Eve were more than accommodating my every need and such gracious, welcoming hosts. I loved the private use of the hot tub in the beautiful garden, the scrumptious breakfast, and the afternoon treat of wine, cheese and fruit. The grounds are magnificent, and so secluded and peaceful yet only a block away from charming downtown Half Moon Bay. My room was luxurious and very quiet.

We loved being surrounded by so many flowers and all of the grounds are impeccably kept up. We also loved being so close to downtown Half Moon Bay for walking, dining and shopping. Our room was larger than we expected. The cleanliness, attention to EVERY detail and care and service provided by Eve and Terry are impressive. They do an outstanding job!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The attention to detail is above and beyond what I have seen at other inns, this included the quality of the linens and bedding as well as the complimentary beverages. The gardens are kept up and obviously receive much love & care. The innkeepers were very informative and helpful. I highly recommend this to those who are seeking the special ambiance that the inn has to offer.

Had a wonderful experience from arrival to checkout. Location was perfect - one block to the very walkable downtown area and yet far enough to have a quiet restful evening. The room was great - bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless. Breakfast was excellent as well. Everyone was very responsive during our stay (from making reservations at local restaurants to bringing us a cheese and fruit plate). We didn't have a chance to check out the spa, but we will definitely visit again.

Terry was an amazing host. He was very professional and courteous. My friends and I are not fancy nor wealthy. But, Terry made us feel like queens! Jessica Davis San Jose

My wife and I wanted to spend our first night away from the kids ever (almost 9 years), and we found the perfect place for it at the Mill Rose Inn. We had such a fabulous time, and it was difficult for us to leave the next day. They had the place so beautifully landscaped with flowers, and also added outdoor lights that made it so festive. It was fun just to explore the place itself. And they had a wonderful outdoor jacuzzi that you can reserve for a private 1 hour session. The room itself was fantastic! We had a cozy gas fireplace in our room, and it was beautifully decorated. The bed was SO comfortable. The well stocked (and free) minibar with wine and beer was a nice touch (and the sherry and brandy outside too). They had desserts and tea available at all times and they even offered a cheese plate any time we wanted (we didn't even get to those). The breakfast was also fabulous! It was hard to get ourselves to leave the B&B, but Mill Rose Inn is right in the heart of downtown Half Moon Bay, and the ocean is only a 10 minute walk away, and it was really pleasant strolling around even in the light drizzle. The hosts were wonderful, spending time to chat with us about the history of the place and Half Moon Bay. They made us feel so much at home. They gave us a great recommendation for dinner at a restaurant nearby. We would certainly look forward to coming back there again next time we're in the area!

Pictures of this inn cannot do it justice. They have the most wonderful gardens I have ever seen at an inn. And if you need container gardening ideas, this is the place to look. Half Moon Bay is a great little town to visit with lots of shops and restaurants, all easy walking distance from the inn. I enjoyed the large shower in our room and the breakfast as well. The rooms are romantic and the host lovely. The standard poodle was also fun and so well behaved. I can't think of a more beautiful place for a getaway.

The Mill Rose is heaven right here on earth. The feather beds, comforters, pillows are so cozy, you just sink into the bed. The details, the painted tiles on the fireplace and sink, the wall paper the tables, all add to the beauty. Terry and Eve are great, breatfast is wonderful. My husband and I especially love the hot tub in the garden. Everything in and out of the Mill Rose is breath takenly beautiful. My husband and I have stayed there 6 or 7 times over the past few years. If you wanted to be pampered in style this is the place.

The Mill Rose Inn is a beautiful littlle B&B in Half Moon Bay. Its a bit over the top for me.....The decor in the rooms are quite busy and hard to sleep in. If your looking for a tranqual place this isnt for you. The innkeepers were very attentive to details, but i found them to be a bit over the top as well

We've been to the inn twice now...and look forward to our next visit. Each and every detail was thought of. We went during the winter storms, and loved to stay indoors with the cozy rooms, fireplaces, and the wonderful food (they even offer freshly baked desserts throughout the evening). We loved it!

Roses of different color and variety were so beautiful! Mill Rose Inn is an exceptionally different bed and breakfast. Every detail was taken care of. Enjoyed all the restaurants that they recommended. Breakfast at the Inn was to die for. Beth
