    We stayed over a long weekend, in shoulder season. The Knickerbocker host was charming and attentive, the food was magnificent, and the location was excellent. A great place for privacy and romance.

    Wonderful Getaway

    My girlfriend and I had the greatest time staying at the Knickerbocker Mansion! It was our anniversary. That place is fantastic. Every nook and cranny is decorated with something interesting. We started taking pictures on the first floor and before we knew it we had taken 200 pictures. We stayed in the Penthouse Suite. That was another hundred or so pictures. The room was warm, cozy and very romantic. I felt so at home in the penthouse suite. Every single member of the staff treated us like family. They couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Robert (the chef) served a variation of a Denver Omelet, Robert's special potatoes and two types of delicious scones. Robert hung around so we could ask him questions about the meal ... and he was more than happy to give us a little history of the Mansion. The owner is a down to earth, friendly guy. His name is Stan Miller and if you Google him (Stan Miller Sound) you will be amazed at just how famous he is. It was plain to see that the Knickerbocker Mansion is a labor of love for Stan and the rest of the crew. We hated to leave the place, but we are certainly coming back - I still have to ask Stan if he knows Steely Dan, Pete Townsend and a few more. We both felt like we were leaving friends behind. What a wonderful experience!

    Located directly over the mansion kitchen, you will wake to the smells of a gourmet breakfast being prepared. This 2nd floor main house room has a stove with faux fire, pine furniture with a queen sleigh bed and large bath with tub and shower. Like all the Knickerbocker rooms, premium 100% cotton linens and towels are used. You are surrounded by historic cedar paneling from 1920. Occupancy by two people, including children of any age.

    Cedar IV is the largest of the main house rooms with a marble tile bath and located on the verandah side of the house. It also has a "through the trees" view of the lake. Complete with sitting area, stove with faux fire and writing desk, it the perfect place to hide away from the world. The walnut queen sleigh bed with its down feather bed and comforter invites you to a restful night. Occupancy by two people, including children of any age.

    Located on the first floor of the Carriage House, this suite has a king size bed in a "sleeping nook", expansive great room, gas log river rock fireplace, dining/game table, TV/VCR/DVD, CD audio system and coffee bar. A marble tile bath room has oversize spa/tub and separate shower. A large private wrap-around deck has forest and lake views. Settle into the leather sofa next to a cozy fire and enjoy a movie on the Sony 32-inch TV. This room can accommodate a 3rd person with the addition of a "Roll-a-way".

    Knickerbocker is the Best

    Once we reserved our room we were immediately contacted with a warm email and a few days prior to our arrival we were advised to check road conditions since this location has unexpected snow storms that can cause problems. We felt immediately at home and comfortable with hot tea or coffee, and delicious homebaked snacks, then our room was exactly what you imagine a rustic mansion to be- 4 poster pillow top bed, views from the window, all the charming details. The breakfast was impressive and dinner was even better! Quality food thoughtfully prepared, and the staff was freindly and helpful. As a bonus we enjoyed watching a woodpecker family just outside the window during breakfast-free entertainment. We will certainly return and tell everyone to visit also.

    A Wonderful Get Away

    What a lovely experience! The Knickerbocker gave us the privacy of a fine hotel with the warmth of being in a good friends home. It was fabulous! I especially enjoyed the little touches: fancy folded tissues, chocolate truffles on the night stand, a rubber ducky on the bathtub, and classic music gently playing in the background. The queen size bed was by far the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I never wanted to get out. I am currently looking for the items that I would need to duplicate the experience. It took me back to my childhood when an elderly friend would tuck me into a feather bed. That's a hint. We are eager to go back soon and hopefully stay longer. Thank you Thomas for being such a charming host. Dee Hilburn
