Cottage room was quaint and secluded. Dinner, bar and breakfast at the restaurant are a gem. Pete and staff are wonderful. I can't say enough about their hospitality and warmth!

Arrived at the hotel after a day of wine tasting. The staff were very friendly and down to earth. We ate at the hotel. My wife had the rack of Lamb and I had the Chicken Saltimbocca. Both were excellent. We really enjoyed the slow pace of the area and warmness of the staff.

We stayed in Room 7, the honeymoon suite in the separate cottage house, not in the hotel. The room was spacious, the king bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed using the large two person whirlpool tub after our day of cycling! The room was decorated with antiques and furnishings which made us feel like we stepped back in time. We loved the view from the front porch while sipping our wine! The staff was very friendly and helpful to our needs.

We stayed on a Monday night when the restaurant is closed and no one has regular hours to be there. The cleaning staff was there and as our room was clean, they allowed us to drop off our luggage before check-in time. We have stayed here before and found the restaurant to be excellent and the staff friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is excellent. No TV or internet if those are important to you.

Loved the feel, inside and out, of this old hotel. Wonderful meals, helpful staff and a great location.

We spent 2 nights in the offsite cottage, room 8, enjoying the quaint charm of this very old world stylish room. It was spacious enough for our comfort. The bed was softer than our normal, but quite comfortable...like an old west bed? We both slept very well. The bathroom was very large with a jacuzzi tub. We didn't partake of that, however it was inviting. A non-slip mat would be good here. Our short walk to the dining room for our delicious inclusive breakfasts was invigorating of fresh mountain air. We enjoyed a very nice dinner in the main dining room one of our evenings. Over all..very sweet with awesome friendly service. Goldene & Fred

The room had a large jacuzzi tub, quiet and private. Loved the breakfast and the whole town of Amador City is a great experience. We will be back.

Stayed 3 nights in mid May 2015. We were given Room 8 in the cottage, some 3 minutes' walk fm the hotel. Not a problem, but the path leading to it is - unlit, uneven, overgrown & dodgy, especially after a downpour. Gutter above the outside steps also leaks badly. One of the bedside lights had a loose connection & flickered. It's an outbuilding, but BEWARE, there are NO coffee or tea-making facilities there. You can order coffee (not tea) which is delivered at 6:30 each morning, in a flask to the verandah outside. Lukewarm by 7:30 when we awoke on 3 chilly mornings. Room not serviced on morning 1 so used coffee flask + mugs not collected either. Dining. "A full gourmet breakfast with hot entrees is included". They're dlusional. no hot entree (unless it was tea or coffee). Morning 1, breakfast okay; Morning 2 diabolical: tepid, over-microwaved scrambled eggs accompanied by a local dish "Biscuits & Gravy" - bread scones slathered in a sweet white sauce containing lumps of gristly sausage meat. Appalling. THIS IS GOURMET COOKING? Waitress monosyllabic & tetchy when asked for toast (we were still hungry). We needed to check out at 9:15 am on day 3. "Sorry, no-one can help you for up to an hour". In desperation, & after 15 mins, my husband discovered the cook knew how to process final payments. The whole place is sloppily decorated, no attention to detail & staff need a bomb under them. Owners are rarely there & don't like criticism. Tough.

Awesome trip to the Hwy 49 Gold and Wine Trail. Amador City was our base for first couple of days, and we absolutely loved it. The Imperial Hotel was the perfect place to stay, and we had an amazing room with a balcony overlooking town. What a gem. Peter, the General Manager, really cares about his guests, and he sets the standard for other employees. Anniversary dinner was outstanding - the rack of lamb was done perfectly. Great choice for accommodation - would definitely stay there again.

We chose to stay during the quiet time of the week. We had a lovely room with a balcony that overlooked Amador City. The quiet solitude suited us as we needed re-charging time. The dinner was excellent and as there where limited guests, service was spot on. The place seemed well organized and well run and if the place had been packed, I think it would have been the same. Great breakfast the next two morning. On our list to return.
