My wife and I and another couple stayed at Willis Graves in Burlington recently. We have not stayed in many B&B's, but this one made a convert of me. It was fabulous. We rented the two suite cabin. The amenities were top flight - very comfortable bed, steam shower, whirlpool bath, etc. Breakfast was to die for! The only problem was that we could not decide what to order. Everything was great. Our hosts were hospitable to the max. We would definitely stay here again.
The cabin rooms are the cleanest and most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in. We stay at B&B's several times per year and this is the best. Nancy and Bob are great and the breakfast is excellent!!. The Tousey House is very close for dining and the food is great!!
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night on a spontaneous mini vacation. I loved the place before I even got there, based on the website. Nancy was so sweet and made sure we were constantly satisfied and happy. Our room was very clean and I didn't even really worry about bed bugs or other issues. I felt more like I was part of a family rather than just a room. I definitely recommend this place! I wish we could have stayed longer!
This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this inn for an anniversary and we have been beyond pleased both times. We very much enjoy the rustic appearance of the William Rouse Retreat in the historic log cabin but having all of the modern amenities such as the steam shower, chromatherapy whirlpool tub etc. The cookies are fantastic, breakfast is fantastic and the Retreat is hard to leave once we become ensconced. I haven't stayed in the main house and probably won't as I love the cabin so much but we intend to spend more kid-free overnights here and would recommend the inn to anyone. I only knocked back the star rating on value because according to the key above three stars means it met my expectations, which in this case for my financial situation it's a bit of a splurge but I felt pampered commensurate to my outlay. I have no qualm about the price of my stay, but I tend to be a budget traveler so I am used to hotels and in general not receiving the service or amenities offered by Nancy and Bob at their wonderful inn.
We love this treasure of a B & B in Kentucky. Nancy is charming and delightful and she and Bob have created a beautifully decorated and comfortable place. The antiques are artfully arranged and reflect the local history of the area. It's great to have a choice at breakfast and the food is delicious.
This was our second time to visit this B&B and it was even better than our first visit. Our room was large, well furnished, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast menu had a good selection of items and. even with my food allergies, I was able to have several choices from which to select. The portions were large, served hot, and were delicious! We will definitely return for a 3rd visit at some point.
My husband and I just needed a little get away. This was within an hour from home, close to a wide variety of things to do, and offered a great relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast both mornings was wonderful. We had a wonderful time and plan on going back the next time we need a break from daily life.
If you need a peaceful place to relax and be pampered Willis Graves B and B is that bit of heaven. The entire place is thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. The amenities are so extensive. Books to read, DVDs to watch, luxurious toiletries, plush robes, beautiful gardens, relaxing spaces in which to sit are just a few of the many touches provided to make your stay heavenly. The beds and bedding are lush and so comfortable. The breakfast is beyond delicious and generously served. Guests can chose from a varied menu and the meal is cooked to order and is served on delightful china with white linens in a charming breakfast room. Finally the hosts, Bob and Nancy, make you feel so welcomed and are eager to make your stay just a bit like heaven. It is the best B and B we have ever experienced.
We just enjoyed our stay so much we're talking about going back for a long weekend! The room was spotless,. It's now our favorite little get away!
Over the years my husband and I have stayed here several times and we are always impressed by the excellence of the service and cleanliness at Willis Graves. There's a great mix of antiques with all the modern amenities like steam shower and espresso machine. We spend hours relaxing on the beautiful covered back porch. The staff are excellent and the culinary experience is not to be missed! We hope to stay here many more times in the years to come! It's become kind of a home away from home!
In May, 2014, while on vacation, my husband and I spent two nights at the Burlington's Willis Graves B&B Inn. We stayed in the Mr. & Mrs. Graves Suite. It was absolutely gorgeous. The first day was rainy and cold, so in the evening, we took advantage of the lovely gas fireplace in the living room to get warm & cozy. Nancy had made some fresh chocolate chip cookies for us. When we asked for her suggestion for dinner, she said the Towsey House, less than a mile away in town, was always good. She volunteered to make reservations for us, if we'd like, so we took her up on it and had a lovely dinner. Nancy provides a microwave & refrigerator in each suite, plush robes, wonderful soaps & lotions and the bathroom has a steam(or regular) shower as well as a wonderful soaking, bubbling bath tub. The brealfasts were extraordinary. Guests could choose when to arrive at the breakfast room between 8 and 9:30 a.m. White linens and Johnson Bros. stoneware and fresh flowers dressed the tables. We were each able to select from a menu presented to us of four breakfast entrees. My husband chose Baked Ham & Eggs Crisp the first morning and Creme Brulee French toast the second and enjoyed them both. I selected Gingerbread Pancakes both mornings because they were so good and were easy for me, as a Type 1 diabetic, to count the carbs to determine my insulin needs. Nancy happily provided me with sugarfree syrup, too. We liked this place so much, we both wanted to stay another night! However, we had reservations & committments ahead on the wind-up of our 3 week road trip. My husband and I have stayed at well over 100 b&b s in our 37 years of marriage. Burlington's Willis Graves is tied with two others for first place in our experiences. This is a quiet, restful, beautiful, accommodating place. Be sure to give it a try!!
We have been coming here 2 or 3 times a year for the past several years and will continue to do so. It is so comfortable, super clean and has an ambiance that promotes relaxation. We just love the Willis Graves suite with the separate sitting room with comfortable furniture and gas fireplace (especially in the winter months). The breakfast is A+++. The owners have become friends. Nancy and Bob and so friendly and go out of their way to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. We love having our wine on the covered patio and the owners often join us for some spirited conversations. Overall, we can't give this B & B a 10. We would have to assign an "11." It is that good! Dick & Judy
Absolutely loved this place! Our first experience with a B&B and loved it!! Every little detail was amazing and we will def be back!! My husband and I had such a relaxing and lovely time! Couldn't say enough nice compliments about it!!!
Very nice place. The owner was out of town but the staff was great. I was amazed at the safety planning in place. They have a storm basement in case of tornado and a window ladder in case of fire The house was lovely and food great. Jim
My wife and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary this past weekend at the Willis Graves B&B in Burlington KY. We have 4 children, all 9 yrs old and under, and we 'rarely,' if ever, get an opportunity to truly relax! Staying at this B&B was the first time in a long time we really relaxed and got to unwind. We would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a truly valuable and memorable experience! Every detail, from the incredible breakfast our room, was outstanding, clean, comfortable, and beautiful! 10 stars for this place!! We will definitely be returning!!
This was our first visit to Kentucky & we only stayed one night at Willis Graves, but felt very much at home. Nancy is a lovely hostess who made us felt welcomed & relaxed. She recommended a fantastic restaurant nearby which made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
This place is amazing! We were welcomed at the door and given the tour of our lodging for the night. There were fresh cookies available, and the espresso machine was a nice touch. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the cabin and enjoyed the VERY comfortable queen-sized bed and the spacious bathroom. The owners are very kind, and Nancy is a WONDERFUL cook! My wife tried the Crème brûlée French toast and highly recommends it. She ordered it on both mornings of our trip, she liked it so much! I can heartily recommend the orange marmalade French toast as well as the peach-mango French toast that was not on the menu but happened to be available. The price is also very reasonable for the accommodations, especially for the quality of the room, furnishings, and food! The only complaint is that it is too far away from our home in Georgia to visit more often! Thanks to Nancy and Bob for a wonderful stay!
We could not have asked for a better experience. We stayed in the log cabin and it was so beautiful. There are many bonuses to this place...steam shower, jetted tub, espresso machine, fridge, etc! The customer service is awesome. Bob and Nancy make you feel like you have known them forever!
Room was very quiet, remote, clean, wonderfully decorated with great amenities. Food was fantastic with lots of flexibility to order whatever you'd like. I would highly recommend Willis & Graves to anyone. I know my wife and I will be back.
I cannot say enough good things about our stay at this B&B. Nancy was so sweet and accommodating to my husband and I along with our children. We stayed in the Graves Room which was very roomy, clean and cozy. Nancy's breakfasts were delicious along with the cookies she baked daily and put in our room. The inn is in the historic part of the city, which was so nice for us. Being from South Florida, we don't get to see too much countryside and this was such a treat for us. This was the first time my children were in a B&B and don't want to ever go back to a hotel! Thanks again Nancy for such a wonderful experience. We will be back!
