We stayed in the cabin suite for our 5yr anniversary and it was wonderful! This was our first B&B experience and we sure picked a good one. The owners were lovely and we felt right at home. The furniture was comfortable, cabin was in immaculate condition, breakfast was fancy and delicious , and we would definitely stay again . I would highly recommend this place!
My wife & I were on our 25th wedding anniversary road trip and this was our first overnight stop. Very pleasant, gracious hosts without being overbearing. We stayed in the Thomas Room which was cozy, nicely decorated, and quiet. An attached modern bathroom was very clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was wonderful with the dining room absolutely charming. Be aware that if you have mobility issues, you will want to avoid the 2nd floor of the inn because the stairs are quite steep and narrow. This is not a criticism. In fact, we found it to be part of the charm of this 1830s home. However, it may be a point the reader may not otherwise consider unless it were mentioned. The cost was comparable to what we've paid at other B&Bs. If you are considering a one night nearby romantic getaway, this is an excellent choice. The Tousey House restaurant nearby is another historic venue which offers fine dining and would nicely complement the experience. Something that struck me as possibly ideal for family gatherings was the log cabin available on the property. Though we did not stay there or even see its interior, my expectation would be that it would be wonderful based on my experience at the inn. The owners are obviously experienced professionals in the hospitality industry.
We took a 10 day road trip to Washington, DC staying at B&B's along the way and this was the best one on our trip. The warm and friendly innkeepers have made this historic home a labor of love, keeping its vintage charm while including modern amenities. For the full breakfast, we were given a number of options from a menu, just like in a gourmet restaurant. Burlington also had a number of other good restaurants to dine at for our other meals. We would definitely go back there if we travel in that area again.
Stayed two nights while in town for work. For the price it cannot be beat. The rooms were clean. Bathroom was invigorating. Nancy made a wonderful breakfast both days. I'll definitely be returning.
Everything was perfect! Hospitality was warm and welcoming! Very clean, inviting and cozy. The Robin nests were an extra bonus. Grounds were breathtaking!!! All was more than excellent!!!
My husband and I absolutely loved this B&B! We stayed in the Mr. & Mrs. Graves' Suite, which includes a living room area with couch, chairs, and a gas fireplace; a bedroom with a large canopy bed; and a full bathroom with an incredible and huge whirlpool tub as well as steam shower. There were delicious cookies and espresso to greet us when we arrived. Nancy was very friendly and helpful, explaining everything we needed to know once we arrived. There is a very peaceful and beautiful patio overlooking gardens and fields which was so relaxing to sit in. It is a very historical building with many authentic antiques so you really feel like you have stepped back in time. The breakfast was phenomenal! I had the creme brulee French toast which was one of the most delicious breakfasts I have had! My husband and I felt so at home here and our only regret is not staying for a longer period of time.
Nancy and Bob Swartzel, the proprietors, were fantastic. Very welcoming and polite. The Thomas Room was as pictured and located in the main house. It was snug but comfortable. The whirlpool bath was very comfortable. It was deep and designed to sit in at a comfortable recline. The in-room espresso maker was marvelous and convenient with it's Keurig-like espresso cups/pods. There was a large collection of DVD's and access to the kitchen coffee pots. Alarm had a docking station for ipod. The back porch was large with lots of seating options to enjoy the fantastic wooded view. Breakfast was amazing. Truly amazing. Nancy was accommodating of my work schedule as I was there for work travel and I dined a little early with zero problems. I have to recommend the orange marmalade French toast. I dream about it. All in all an excellent value and well situated in a short drive from shopping, dining and entertainment. I'll be back. One note, the stairs in the main house were very steep. It was not a problem for me, but if you have mobility issues, you may want to try for a ground floor room in the other, log building if there is such a room available.
Willis Graves B&B is a wonderful retreat and the owner's couldn't be kinder and more hospitable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with the gingerbread pancakes and homemade granola.
We had a wonderful stay! The innkeepers are very knowledgeable of the area. They were very helpful with meal and activity information. I truly enjoyed the Eagle Bend Alpaca farm. The animals are beautiful! I would recommend for a relaxing time.
Nancy was the perfect host for a wonderful weekend. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and great company. Beautiful, clean, and comfortable accommodations. We had a terrific time. Thank you for having us!
The attention to detail, cleanliness and hospitality of the innkeepers makes this b and b stand out from the rest. This is truly a special place, especially for couples who need a getaway or to celebrate a special occasion. The breakfast is 5 star and worth the trip itself! Do wish it wasnt quite so costly so we could come back more often. Definitely worth the splurge though. Room note...voices and tv noise to carry through the floors to the upstairs cabin retreat. We had to play soft music to drown out the loud tv to go to sleep. Not a deal breaker for sure but worth noting for future guests.
Best hospitality ever! Hosts were warm and friendly, and very detailed in the accommodations of their home. We felt right at home and shared pleasant conversations multiple times. The breakfast meals were delicious and more than enough. A truly beautiful home. Will definitely go back for another stay!
this was my first stay at a B&B and I didn't know what to expect. From the moment I walked in the door I was welcomed and felt an at home type of peace. I will be staying there again.
Nancy and Bob are wonderful innkeepers and do everything to make your stay as fantastic as you could want. Breakfast is outstanding and the antiques and old world charm make this bed and breakfast a nice get away. We have stayed there 4 times now and love it more and more.
We stayed here while visiting family. It was perfectly located. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The owners are friendly and informative. We will stay here again.
We had a great time at this B&B, a much needed break. Beautiful room, we felt very pampered. Delicious breakfast. A couple great restaurants just a couple blocks away. We will definitely be coming back!
Bob and Nancy never disappoint! Stayed in Thomas' Room which was smaller than I usually book but it was well-appointed and quite comfortable for our one-night stay. We had everything we needed to enjoy our quick get-away.
Our Burlington's Willis Graves Bed & Breakfast Inn stay was a great getaway for a night from our everyday life. Being from Cincinnati, it was an easy trip and offered a unique stay in a small historic area.
Our favorite bed-and-breakfast by far! Stay there on our wedding night and first year anniversary and plan to do so for years and years to come! My wife and I are both gluten and lactose intolerant, and vegan and they were so willing to accommodate in point us in directions to get a great dinner. not a ton of dining around the area but places like Kroger and other things are available but who wants to go out to dinner when they are at a bed-and-breakfast, am I right? Also for any movie lovers they have loads of them available!
