We stayed for seven nights. Each cooked breakfast was different and very good. Breakfasts were served at a time (early or late) that met each visitor's needs and ingredents were tailored to individual needs (pork-free, vegetarian). Rooms were cleaned daily and bed linens changed every three days. Owners were friendly and helpful. Lucy's Place is a very nice place to stay.
We stayed for two days and were in the Parlor Room. It had a four post queen size bed with beautiful hand made quilt! The room was furnished with a refrigerator, microwave, and jacuzzi in the bathroom. Breakfasts were different each day and served with fresh berries! The coffee was plentiful and could enjoy a cup while enjoying the views on the porch. Our host was friendly and gave us advise on places to eat. We would not hesitate at all to return to Lucy's Place!
We stayed for 3 nights in September and had such a wonderful time. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. The common areas - living room, dining room, and decks were so wonderful - especially the decks. There were great views of take Superior and downtown Bayfield. The location of Pilot House is so convenient-- it was walking distance to anything in downtown Bayfield (including ferry and boat cruise docks), but was in a quiet location (except for an occasional loud car or truck). The owner Jack, was hospitable and social -- but also unobtrusive. He provided us with great suggestions for dining, areas to explore, etc. He was also very knowledgable re: Bayfield history. We loved sitting on the deck and looking at the beautiful view with a cup of coffee or glass of wine - it was conducive to meeting other people staying at the Pilot House. But if you wanted to be on your own, there's a second deck. The continental breakfast was very nice because he had a good assortment of fresh fruit and homemade muffins. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters.
Perfect for our mother- daughter getaway! We walked everywhere. Started the day with a walk around town and the trails. We felt safe, well cared for, but not smothered! All our needs were met. We woke to great views and ended our days on the beautiful deck. Great to relax, reconnect and recharge!
We had only booked the Pilot House for 1 night, but asked to stay another night. Jack checked the reservations and said it would be no problem! The B&B has a great location. Just a short walk to lots of great shops and restaurants. The view from the kitchen deck is amazing! We had our breakfasts looking out over the lake and Madeline Island. We plan on coming back someday!
The Pilot House is very clean and modern. Nicely decorated and the owner is always available if you have any questions about anything. This is located walking distance to the pier for the ferry to Madeline Island, and to the pier for cruise tours and sale boat rides. There is a lot to see in the immediate area. The Pilot Owner is also very knowledgeable with the history of the area and can recommend things to do and see in the immediate area and near by. We would stay there again.
We had never stayed a bed and breakfast before but Lucy's Place was a great first experience! Their breakfasts were fantastic and they were great hosts! Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. So relaxing and peaceful! We were within walking distance of restaurants and stores and even had a view of the lake from our window. Love this place!
Nice location in town, walking distance to restaurants. shops etc. The host gave us good advice on places to go. We had a small room but I did get to see another room which was nice. My husband likes to take showers and was not happy with only a Jacuzzi tub. The house could have been cleaner.
We spent four days at the Pilot House in the Captain's Quarters; clean, quit and comfortable. The location is excellent for everything the City of Bayfield has to offer; park your car and wander. Grab a bottle or two of wine and enjoy the magnificent views from one of the two well appointed decks. Jack was an excellent host making sure we had everything we needed to make our holiday a memorable one. His attention to detail made us feel at home.
We had a wonderful stay here at Lucy's place. Our room was the North room directly off the dining and kitchen area. It was quiet and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the ceiling fan and air conditioning was very welcome with the warm and humid weather. Thank you so much for the coffee on the sun porch and the warm breakfast in the morning. This place is a warm and inviting home. Thank you! Mike and Susie
Very clean an comfortable, easy access to shops and dining. Only one block up from ferry. Don't need to drive, walking distance to most things. If you need any help, just talk to Jack and he will steer you in the right direction.
We stayed for two nights mid-week in the Admirals Quarters and enjoyed our stay very much. Because we did a last minute reservation we got a nice discount on the room, which was large, comfortable and private. We didn't spend too much time at the Inn as we had a full schedule of activities, but were glad to come back to comfortable quarters after a busy day. Jack was a great host telling us the history of the site and interesting facts about the town. The weather wasn't great while we were there so we didn't spend any time on the deck, but the view was fantastic. We would certainly stay at the Pilot House Inn again if we had the chance.
Our stay at the Pilot House was exceptional! It was so conveniently located to everything that Bayfield offers and was extremely clean and comfortable! Jack, the owner, was always available, and was a riot to be around! We will definitely stay here again for our next trip to Bayfield!
The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Our room and bath/dressing area was so spacious and comfortable. The views of Lake Superior were great from either of the properties two deck lounge areas. Jack, the host, was so inviting and accommodating and made us feel right at home. My husband and I were only able to stay one night here but would definitely come back to the Pilot House the next time we have a chance to return to Bayfield.
When I found that the hotels in Bayfied had no openings on the dates I required, I booked a 3 night stay at the Pilot House Inn for my husband and myself. I am so glad that I did! Jack phoned prior to our arrival to say that the room was ready for early check-in. On arrival, he answered all questions concerning dining, activities and entertainment. He was personable and entertaining without being intrusive. The Admiral's Quarters, with a beautiful lake view, was much more attractive, spacious and comfortable than we had anticipated. It was a short walk into town and to the lake. We rarely drove our car while in Bayfield. The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We are so glad that there was room at the Inn and not the hotels! The Pilot House Inn is the only place we want to stay in Bayfield in the future. r
Apostle Island Adventure Arriving in Bayfield was just so lovely and The Pilot House was icing on the cake. Our room was extremely comfortable and clean. The views from our window and that of the shared living area overlooking Lake Superior are magnificent. I wanted to move in forever. Jack, the Host/Owner is a delight and you immediately know he wants you to enjoy your stay. Thank you Jack, you made our stay better than I'd even imagined. My husband and I spent one day kayaking the sea caves and another taking the ferry to Madeline Island. We took Jacks suggestion of renting mopeds to tour Madeline island and it was such fun. I can't wait to come back!
Great location and value. As others have noted, breakfast is just ok - but who cares, we wanted to enjoy the many great restaurants in town anyway so for us this wasn't a factor at all. Jack is a great host! Friendly, available and knowledgable.
Let's start with Jack - the proprietor and owner of The Pilot House Inn. He is welcoming, cordial, smart, funny, informative and oh so accommodating. Not a need goes unturned or unnoticed. Our suite was large and immaculate with a stunningly dramatic view of Lake Superior. It's a 1st rate stay in picturesque downtown Bayfield, WI. We look forward to our return! John and Sharon D.
This was my husband and my second stay at The Pilot House, this time we were with a group of friends on our annual motorcycle trip. Once again we were very happy with our stay! The Pilot House is very clean, the rooms are great with super comfy beds, and Jack, the innkeeper, is so friendly, helpful, and pretty funny! The only downfalls I could come up with is that there was only muffins, fruit, & juice and coffee for breakfast (but there are so many great restaurants within walking distance it isn't a big deal) and a pretty steep driveway, but it is well worth the climb once you see the view! It just can't be beat and the wrap around decks are the perfect place to take it all in! (Plus, after eating so much delicious treats, I needed that climb to burn some calories). Looking forward to visiting Bayfield again and staying at The Pilot House!
My wife and I, along with three other couples invaded the Pilot House while on a 4-day tour of Northern WI waterfalls and it turned out we were checking out all of the flood damage from a month ago. Jack is a wonderful host - very knowledgeable and friendly. We all just loved the Pilot House, the clean comfy rooms and especially THE BEST VIEW IN TOWN!! We will certainly be back soon.
We spent one night at The Pilot House Inn, and were very pleased. It was very clean, private, and up-to-date. Jack, the host, was super friendly, and fun to talk to. A little higher priced than some of the other accommodations in the area, but a very nice place to spend a night.
Excellent place to stay in heart of Bayfield. We stayed in the Crows Nest and had a wonderful view of Bayfield, the harbor and Madeline Island. It looks as if everything is brand new and the unit was very clean. The owner provided excellent communication and is on site. Every place in town is easy to walk to and the ferry is right across the street. Don't expect too much for breakfast but there are great places for breakfast in Bayfield. Next time we're in Bayfield we'll be staying at the Pilot House.
My wife and I spent the weekend at Bayfield, WI and stayed Sunday night at Lucy's Place B&B. We were in the Solarium Room on the 2nd floor of this 100+ year old house. The house is located about 5 blocks up the hill from downtown Bayfield. We walked everywhere we needed to go. The yard is full of vegetable and flower gardens and there's a huge porch to sit, relax, and enjoy the lake view. Our room was cozy with a nice sitting area. The air conditioner and ceiling fans helped keep us cool and the bed was comfortable. Bruce & Barb were good hosts and provided us with lots of good, local information. Nice breakfast with coffee, fresh berries, egg casserole, muffins, etc.
