Best place to stay in Flagstaff
en diciembre 28, 2014
Our family of four were going to see Santa at nearby popular holiday tourism events, so demand for lodging was at a peak. Elden Trails B&B was priced less than any of the top hotels.
Other factors that intrigued us about Elden Trails B&B are: The property abuts the Mt. Elden forest. The studio is private, with a small dining area, bathroom, bedroom, and pull-out bed in the living area. The promise of a nourishing, well-crafted breakfast. Kids are welcome.
The proprietors contacted us soon after making the reservation and clearly communicated with us about our needs and expectations. We felt as if we were being welcomed by a doting aunt and uncle or godparents. When our arrival time was delayed into their personal time, Steve and Marnie graciously coordinated check-in and offered up knowledgeable ideas for dinner (small town vs. weary city kids).
Steve and Marnie attended to every detail in the design of the studio, no amenity of comfort forgotten, yet nothing fussy. They had books and movies for the kids, plenty of blankets and plush towels, and a generous assortment of refreshments at our discretion such as fine teas and locally made products. The decor is inviting, eclectic, and thoughtful. We admired the sculptures, the throw rugs everywhere, and the kids loved the "spinners" (hand-painted tops).
Breakfast was a remarkable affair. Homemade yogurt, soft yogurt cheese, jellies, seed cake, and kombucha (my husband swears it's the best recipe he's tasted, and my daughter like it a lot). Those were just accompaniments to crisp bacon, creamy cheesy-egg scramble, toast, browned potatoes, and fruit salad. Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. We drank coffee, tea, and a rich hot cocoa. The kids were allowed to check the chicken coop for eggs - and, yes, the breakfast eggs were freshly-laid by the Elden Trails B&B's hens.
We deeply appreciate the hospitality of Steve and Marnie and can't imagine staying anywhere else in Flagstaff.
stay here and stay a while!

Our only regret is that we only stayed 2 nights! The accommodations were creative and cozy reflecting the love and care of Marnie and Steve. Breakfast was uber organic and kept us going throughout most of the day. We loved the hiking right outside our door on Mt Elden. mahalo from eileen & john (Hawaii)
A wonderful surprise

We reserved a 2 night stay in a last minute reservation to avoid a ghastly hotel we were supposed to stay at and were so wonderfully surprised. Marnie and Steve were gracious hosts and served up delicious organic breakfasts. We loved the privacy that this Bed and Breakfast gave us as well as the lush surroundings. No need for concern about other guests because Elden Trails is a studio apartment. The National Forest as a backyard was a delightful place for walking and the Grand Canyon was only an hour away. We also appreciated Steve's recommendation to Fat Olives, an Italian restaurant down the road that was indeed worthy of the 2 thumbs up! We will definitely be back!
A great place to STOP. So very enjoyable.

We loved, loved, loved our stay at Elden Trails B&B! The room was clean, homey, and very comfertable. Marnie is an incredible chef and breakfasts were amazing. We, typically, jump up from breakfast, ready to go and do...but the environment at this B&B begged for relaxation and conversation...an hour of time just to BE. (Thank you for that, Steve and Marnie!) Suggestions for places to go and the best way to see the sights were always available...and we were never sorry we followed Steve's advice. We have been on extended travel across the US. I must say, Elden Trails B&B has been our favorite stay so far.

Marnie and Steve have created a delightful retreat! The "room" is actually a studio with separate sleeping area, which backs up to the Coconino National Forest. Breakfasts are outstanding: all-natural, organic, with eggs fresh from The Girls (Marnie and Steve's chickens). I would have loved to stay more than our two nights! In fact, I would return to the Flagstaff area just to stay at Elden Trails!

I stayed at Elden Trails in September 2013 for three nights before joining a Grand Canyon hiking tour. It was a beautiful spot, with great access to hiking trails and very close to downtown Flagstaff. The cabin is spacious, comfortable, and very quiet.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the company & conversation each morning. Thanks Steve & Marnie for being great hosts!
Perfect getaway location

I stayed 4 nights when on a recent personal retreat. The food was awesome and Marnie packed a breakfast for me for the day I left at 6am. The location was exactly what I was looking for - quiet, access to gorgeous trails and hosts that were most helpful with information. Looking forward to returning there again.

Delightful and Delicious

We had a splendid one night stay at Elden Trails B&B. The studio suite is comfy and quiet with forest trails directly behind the suite with a variety of hiking options. Marnie and Steve are gracious hosts and helped us with dinner and entertainment options in Flagstaff. We can't say enough about how wonderful the breakfast was. We requested a vegan breakfast and it far exceeded our expectations. Plenty of variety and it was very tasty.
Eggs, Gardens, Comfort and Trails -- Wow

Steve and Marnie are exceptional hosts in an industry (B&Bs) that has attracted too many people who are merely interested in revenues. It is obvious that they have captured the spirit of hospitality that guided B&B's previously. It shows in the lodgings, the food, and their level of helpfulness.
