Maple Baked Pears: Breakfast-Brunch

Prep time:30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 small very ripe pears

  • 1/4 cup softened butter

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1/2 cup Maple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon Allspice

Step 1:

Peel, halve and core each pear. With a very sharp knife, cut the pear into thin slices from bottom about 3/4 of the way up. By leaving them connected at the top, you can fan them to bake faster and display nicer.

Step 2:

Grease bottom of glass baking dish (8x8) with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place pears in dish.

Step 3:

Pour maple syrup over the pears, sprinkle with brown sugar and allspice.

Step 4:

Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. The juice from the pears and the sugars and butters will blend for a rich sauce.

Step 5:

Serve one or two halves per plate or serve over waffles with extra syrup.
