Eastern Shore French Toast: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:

  • 6 large croissants, cut in half

  • 1 cup half and half

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1/8 cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla

  • 1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cut each croissant in half through the middle, to have 2 crescent shaped slices.

Step 2:

Whisk half and half, eggs, maple syrup, salt, vanilla, almond extract and melted butter in wide and shallow bowl very well together.

Step 3:

Dip each slice of croissant in the half and half mixture and arrange in a shallow dish. Let sit for 5 min. so the croissants can soak up the liquid. Add a small amount of butter to a medium hot griddle pan. Add 3-4 pieces and cook until golden on both sides. Remove and place into an ovenproof dish and put into oven. Cook remaining pieces of croissant until all are done and set in oven for 10 min.

Step 4:

Serve 2 slices per person with unsalted butter and warm maple syrup. Yum!
