Jane and William would love to welcome you to their award winning guest house in the beautiful city of York. We are just five minutes walk from York city centre and York Minster. You can leave your car and comfortably walk to see all the many attractions on offer and enjoy the many restaraunts or perhaps enjoy a city bus or walking tour. Monkgate Guest House provides friendly family accommodation as well as bed and breakfast for travellers. Monkgate Guest House was originally three cottages built in the 18th century therefore the rooms are small and cosy and have been tastefully renovated to retain much of the original character. Each of the 5 bedrooms is individually decorated and provides all the modern conveniences you would expect today. Four double/twin rooms are on the first floor all en-suite and one with a private shower room there is also one single en-suite. All rooms have central heating with thermostat controls tea/coffee making facilities hair dryers electric shaver points and colour tv with dvd players. Free off street parking and free wi fi is also available. We offer a freshly cooked english breakfast and special dietary choices can be arranged from our menu if pre-ordered. We have been awarded three stars by the English Tourist Board and have been Finalists for Best Guest House from Visit York many times over the past few years. Unfortunately we can not accept pets other than guide dogs and are unable to accommodate hen & stage parties. We will however try our best to accommodate your needs so if you have any special group requirements or requests pease do not hesitate to telephone us direct to discuss. We try our best to offer a friendly helpful service in comfortable and clean surroundings a country atmosphere in a city environment!
