The Old School Guesthouse

Originally built in 1875 and converted in the years after 1992, the old school now provides exceptional levels of comfort and quality accommodation, at the same time retaining many of the buildings historic features (130 year old exposed beams, heavy school doors and the original bell tower). All our rooms are large and benefit from full central heating, king size beds and designer Egyptian cotton bed linen. The walls are decorated with original art works and fine quality prints. Services to our guests, such as Internet access and parking, are provided FREE of charge. On arrival you will be offered complementary tea/coffee with either cake or biscuits, served in our lounge or on the terrace – weather permitting. We have a wealth of information available to you to ensure a memorable stay. Located within Dartmoor National Park in the picturesque village of Horrabridge, the old school house is the perfect base from which to explore Dartmoor National Park, Devon and Cornwall's towns and villages either by car, on foot, horse or bike. The award winning ancient Stannery town of Tavistock and its famous Pannier Market is close by (4 miles) and the Naval City of Plymouth is just 12 miles. Derriford is a short car trip of 5 miles. Enjoy local walks or a few rounds of golf at the local clubs. Or simply relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery on our door step. Dartmoor was designated as a National Park in 1951. It is a beautiful moorland landscape with wooded valleys and windswept Tors and covers over 360 square miles (950 sq. km.) and has over 600 miles (966km) of public rights of way. About 10 million visits are made each year. Dartmoor is a rich habitat for wildlife, with cattle, sheep, ponies and rabbits roaming the moors. Many archaeological remains can also be found.
