The perfect gift for every occasion

  • Mentioned as a property in the Doomsday Book. We know it was owned by the Deanery of Exeter until 1906 when it was purchased by the Johnson family who lived here until the 1970s. Both father and son were the local squires of Winkleigh, owning a lot of other property and land. Groom Cottage once, as the name implies, was that thatched cottage that housed the coach and the coachmen/groom and the thatched barn housed two ponies. The back of the house (all thatched) has a 'hidden courtyard' and the now bed and breakfast rooms were once the gardener's cottage. The garden is at its best during April/May when the Azaleas and Rhododendrons are in bloom. Please Note: We are a No-Smoking property. Regrettably, we cannot accept pets. Check-In time: 16:00 and Check-Out time: 10:00.
