Alfred's Lodge

Alfred's Lodge was built in 1901 at the end of the Victorian era. All our rooms in the Victorian section of the house still retain the original fireplaces. We have some on site parking and free wi fi access to all bedrooms. Whether you have a wedding or a party to go to, are seeing friends or just want a relaxing break, Alfred’s Lodge provides quality guest house accommodation and is the perfect place to stay. As we are located only 3 miles from Lains Barn wedding venue, we are ideally situated to look after your wedding party. Flexible and friendly nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask. We can organise restaurant bookings and arrange taxis on request. Our breakfasts are wholesome and hearty and are cooked freshly to order to ensure a happy start to the day. Ideally situated in a quiet residential area. we are only minutes away from the busy town centre of Wantage where you can enjoy a coffee whilst looking at the interesting architecture of the town. Whilst here you can visit the Vale and Downlands Museum, have a light lunch in the Alfred's Head pub with its interesting garden, enjoy a Thai dinner at Yummies or take the car up into the hills of the Vale of the White Horse. The ridgeway in only miles away so we are perfectly situated for walkers and bikers alike. Well behaved pets are also welcome. Accessible from Didcot Parkway main line station with its links to London, Oxford, Swindon and the West Country and within 20 minutes of both the M4 and M40 motorways. Local bus services run from the town centre.
