    A newly renovated early Victorian house, ten minutes walk away from the town center. Rutland Lodge is conveniently located on the Babbacombe Road, directly up from the harbourside and Marina, with off road parking. The house has been renovated to provide all modern comforts whilst retaining the character of the 1850s building. Decorative features are wonderful to see but Victorian plumbing is not wonderful to hear! The showers are seriously good. With Rutland Lodge I’m trying to provide more freedom for guests than the normal B+B. I live in the cottage next door, so ‘Rutland’ is completely separate. The whole house – sitting room, garden, conservatory and kitchen - is for guest use. I’ll be on hand to lay out the continental breakfast buffet (and clear up!). There’s an excellent Jura ‘bean to cup’ 1 button easy to use coffee machine to help yourself to during the day. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished, all with marble clad ensuite bathrooms/shower rooms. The beds are Rest Assured pocket sprung with memory foam. The TV’s are Panasonic 37” plasma with separate CD/DVD/MP3 players. Tea & coffee facilities are provided in addition to the kitchen facilities. Flooring is solid oak to minimize allergies – with lots of sound insulation. Five minutes walk away are Wellswood’s delightful cafes, delis, bars and restaurants. Further down the hill is Meadfoot Beach with parking and café overlooking the sea.
