Bankside B&B

  • Inn Details

Bankside is a spacious house which was built in about 1820, set in a lovely garden. It has been sympathetically renovated and now offers four stylish, comfortable and well equipped guest bedrooms, three in the main house, and the fourth a newly converted, luxury loft over the garages in our rear courtyard . On arrival you will receive a very warm welcome from Heather, with complimentary refreshments. Each guest room has very comfortable beds, with luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathrobes and fresh white towels. There is also a flat screen digital TV, hairdryer, comprehensive hospitality tray with fresh milk daily. Free Wi-Fi is available in each room. Our Award Winning Breakfasts are served in the dining room around our large antique table, and gives a great opportunity to get to know the other guests and to share your experiences of the area. You can help yourself to starters from the buffet - fruit juice, cereals, homemade yoghurt, fresh fruit/fruit compote, dried fruit, nuts and seeds. While you are enjoying this, Heather will cook your choice of main course - a full English with locally made sausages, Cornish bacon, free range eggs etc, or perhaps homemade pancakes with various toppings, or locally smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Follow this with toast and preserves, all homemade of course! Homemade Cornish Cream Teas are available, served in the garden when possible. St Austell is the ideal centre for exploring the Eden Project, Heligan Gardens, Charlestown, Fowey and Mevagissey. With a car, everywhere in Cornwall is within day trip distance, but all the local attractions can be visited by bus. There are an increasing number of walking/cycle trails through St Austell, and easy access to the stunning South West Coastal Path. Our best local beach is Porthpean, just 2 miles away. You can also use a combination of train, bus and ferry to have spectacular days out. We have private parking at the rear of the house.
