The Golden Boar is located in the idyllic village of Freckenham, Suffolk, (approximately 6 miles from Newmarket the home of horse racing) set in an acre of beautiful grounds and also offers superb accommodation facilities. It is surrounded by the beautiful Suffolk countryside and has easy acess to several places of interest such as Ely, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. As well as being able to dine in the beautiful award winning restaurant, drink in the cosy bar or stay in one of our comfortable rooms, the Golden Boar is also able to cater to any other special requirements you may have. A family run business you will find a warm and friendly welcome where nothing is too much trouble. At the Golden Boar our aim is to offer you an outstanding experience in dining and service. We are able to accommodate any private functions or events, such as business meetings or weddings and we are more than happy to tailor these to your specific requirements. If you do not wish to choose from our fantastic customary menus, we can provide you with an excellent range of alternatives to make your event personal. From an intimate 3 course meal for a small private party to a buffet for a large party we are more than willing to make your occasion extra special. The bar is where your journey begins. When you first enter the Golden Boar you will be welcomed at the beautiful hand built bar by one of our hospitable staff. You will instantly be attracted to the bar's charisma and charm that is created by the surrounding timber frames and open fire places. The lounge area in the bar is the ideal place to meet and socialise with friends as well as to relax before and after your meal. At the bar we offer a wide range of drinks from lager to pink champagne. There are four traditional hand pumps serving an excellent selection of the finest real ales which are kept to the highest standard whilst we also have a fantastic range of wines and champagne from both the new and old world
