    When used as a coaching post house there was stabling for 58 horses and it was last used as such in 1913 when the final coach and horses to pass through belonged to Pickford removals. The pub was in the Beech family for a hundred years. The pub also boasts that Jane Austen herself was known to frequently visit the guest house-in search of inspiration for one of her many books no doubt! Recently restored and refurbished - the Chequers today offers good ales and wines and surrounds itself with local wild flowers and the smell of good, traditional European cooking. With 5 en-suite bedrooms. Each room is individually decorated offering you privacy and comfort in the beautiful and historic village of Lamberhurst .
