We are ideally situated just 5 minutes from the port of Dover, enabling easy access to the continent. We are also on the main bus route. Enjoy a day trip to Calais or view the iconic white cliffs of Dover from the English Channel. Or why not make use of our beach hut located right on the beach? The historic city of Canterbury, with its many shops and tourist attractions, is only 25 minutes drive away. Hythe, with its antique shops and excellent fish& chips,at(The little fish shop) which is black& white painted& near the war memorial, is only 15 minutes away. There are discounted designer ranges at De Bradelei Wharf in Dover or Mcarthur Glen in Ashford, which also makes for a great day out. Don't miss Dover Castle and Leeds Castle ""the loveliest castle in the world"" near Maidstone. We are ideally situated for exploring some of the loveliest gardens of England; for hiking, visitors are encouraged to head towards Folkestone and the leas Promenade, where you can explore the pretty harbour. For biking there is a lovely ride along the sea front from Hythe to Folkestone where you will find the sunny sands, lovely gardens and wooden swing park along the lower Road. The Leas Cliff Hall welcomes performances from many famous bands. The Folkestone horse race track is nearby, and for anyone interested in horses, a two minute walk will take you to the stables at the bottom of the lane, where a 30 minute ride or lesson will cost you £11.00 - hats are provided. They have a fun day on Wednesdays for small children too. A 20 minute walk will take you to the fascinating Battle of Britain Museum, and alongside the property is a footpath that goes straight out onto the North Downs that makes for great dog walks. • Directions to property:
Gatwick|Air|60|Head north out of Gatwick airport on the M23. At junction 8, take the M25 exit to M1/M4. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for A25/M11/M20/Dartford. Continue on M26. Merge onto M20 (for 40 miles). Continue on A20. Take the A260 exit toward Canterbury. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Canterbury Rd. Canterbury|Bus|20|Take the 16 bus to Folkestone and get off at the White Horse pub in Hawkinge - our B&B is just down a bit on the opposite side of the road (number 8). Folkestone|Train|3|Arrive at Folkestone central station, walk out of the station to the road and just to your right (50 yards) you will see a bus stop. Take the number 16 to Canterbury, it will take you through Hawkinge as you go up a very steep hill with fields on either side. You will see my B&B sign on the right hand side. Get off the bus at the White Horse pub and just walk back over the road. Dover|Road|4|Follow the A20 and signs to London and the M20 Folkestone Maidstone (not Canterbury). Take the turning for Folkestone across the roundabout to the T junction; turn right across the bridge over the main road to the roundabout, and straight over and up steep hill. Before the speed signs on the right you will see the B&B sign (number 8) - turn in there. If you go past the White Horse pub you have gone too far! London|Road|70|Follow the M20 to Dover and just as you get outside of Folkestone the road changes to the A20. Look to the left for signs to Hawkinge or Canterbury and follow - do not take the A260 exit off the roundabout but take the next one that goes up a very steep hill - this is White Horse Hill. Just before the 30 mile an hour speed limit posts you will see my B&B sighn post; turn in there, to the right no 8. It is before the White Horse Pub, so if you have gone past there you have gone to far!
