Ye Olde George Inn - Badger Pubs

  • Inn Details

Ye Olde George Inn is a cosy, traditional country pub run by a friendly team, serving fine wines and award winning cask real ales. Our food is of a high quality prepared by chefs with a real passion for local and free-range ingredients. The menu changes regularly to serve fresh seasonal produce. We offer Al fresco dining throughout the summer months and open log fires in the winter. Private functions are also welcome. Ye Olde George Inn dates back to the 15th century and boasts loads of original character and charm. The pub is set in one of England's finest historic villages, only a stones throw from the South Down's Way, making this an ideal location for walkers and hikers alike. The pub has five comfortable en-suite bedrooms available, consisting of two doubles, a superior double and two twin rooms. Our superior room is large enough to be sold as a triple or family room. Please note we do close in the afternoons. We open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 3pm and then again from 6pm -11pm. We open on Sundays from 11am until 10pm. Check in needs to be either before three or after six. East meon itself has a number of local attractions. All Saint's church holds an original Norman font, one of only seven still in existance in England. It also holds a beautiful tapestry commemorating the millenium. Meon Springs fisheries is only a little distance away, offering a wealth of activities. The Sustainability Centre is approximately a mile up the road situated on the old H.M.S Mercury site, offering the Natural burial site. Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a few miles away offering over twenty miles of trails ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The nearest towns to East Meon are the historic market towns of Petersfield and Winchester, each hosting regular farmers markets. Alternatively, the A3 takes you to Portsmouth in just about twenty minutes where you could enjoy the historic dockyard, Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker tower.
