    Southdown is a modern detached house set in a large garden in the hamlet of Roundway Village, a mile from the historic market town of Devizes. We are rated 4 stars with Visit Britain and hold both Walkers and Cyclists Welcome, along with a Silver Award from Green Tourism and the Enjoy England breakfast award. A footpath running alongside the house leads to the Kennet & Avon Canal and the attractions and facilities of Devizes. A short walk in the other direction takes you up onto Roundway Down on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you can find the Devizes Millennium White Horse (one of 8 horses cut into the Wiltshire Downs), the site of the Battle of Roundway (1643) and Oliver’s Castle hillfort. Being situated in the centre of the county, this is a perfect location for touring the whole of the county with its wonderful towns, villages and ancient sites, eg: Avebury, Stonehenge, Lacock, Salisbury, Castle Combe, Bath etc. Whether you are touring, walking, cycling or on business, you are assured of a very warm welcome and a comfortable stay. We have three guest bedrooms: two doubles with en-suite facilities and a twin with a private bathroom. There is a guest lounge containing local information, books and maps etc, and a gallery with photos of the area, drinks facilities and a guest computer. We have wi-fi if you wish to bring a laptop. Our renowned breakfast is served in the conservatory or dining room, depending on the time of year. Both overlook the back garden. Guests are welcome to use the garden and the hot tub. Southdown is also the home of White Horse Walking Holidays. We offer you all the elements that make up a great walking holiday or short break for little more than the cost of B&B. Southdown is on the Wessex Ridgeway, White Horse Trail and Mid-Wilts Way and is only 9 miles from the start/finish point of The Ridgeway National Trail. We can tailor walks to suit your requirements. Swindon Railway station|Train|19|From railway station, cross road to bus station and take no 49 bus to Devizes. Either get off at Coate roundabout and walk up Folly Road or continue to Devizes and take a taxi. A303 Andover|Road|26|Exit A303 at weyhill and take A342 to Devizes. Turn right onto A361 London Rd and continue in Swindon direction until reaching Travelodge at Folly Rd. Turn left up Folly Road. Southdown is half a mile along the road and is the first house on the left as you enter Roundway Village (signpost outside garden). M4 Hungerford|Road|26|Exit M4 at Hungerforsd onto A4. Follow A4 through Hungerford and Marlborough & head towards Devizes. Join A361 at Beckhampton roundabout just past The Waggon & Horses pub. Continue to Devizes and on reaching the outskirts go through 3 roundabouts. Ahead of the 3rd is a Subway & Travelodge. Turn right in front of them, along Folly Road. Southdown is half a mile along the road and is the first house on the left as you enter Roundway Village (signpost outside garden). M4 Chippenham|Road|17|Take the A350 to Chippenham and then the A342 to Devizes. Join the A361 and continue towards Swindon along London Rd until reaching Travelodge at Folly Rd. Turn left up Folly Road. Southdown is half a mile along the road and is the first house on the left as you enter Roundway Village (signpost outside garden).
