The Punch Bowl Inn

  • Inn Details

The Browns have long experience of providing a home from home atmosphere and have invested much in creating The Punch Bowl as it is today. Ideally situated in a quiet village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, good walking and cycling or fishing on the Derwent Reservoir or Angling Club waters provide the guest with a multitude of choices to occupy the day, whilst in the evening, Moira's excellent kitchen provides wholesome food with a twist, alongside a range of Cask conditioned ales and a wine list recently described as 'sanely priced, different' by a regular resident. Sunday Lunch is a must book and food is available through the week from 12.00-2.30pm and 6.00-9.00pm, and from 12.00-9.00pm Saturdays and 12.00-8.30pm Sunday. Four star accommodation (plus Silver Award) from Visit Britain gives the proof of the quality of the bedrooms, all en-suite with either bath & shower or shower only. Please ask when booking for your preference. There is a wealth of history in the North East of England, all within a relatively short drive from the Punch. Good nature walks for the experienced, and not so!, can combine to provide the visitor with the ideal spot to enjoy the best of both worlds-the peace and quiet of a small country village with the bustle of Newcastle only half an hour away. Our intention for 2011 and onwards is to provide golf breaks for those of a more more energetic nature with packages for two, three or four days playing any number of the courses in the area. Prices to be agreed once arrangements are finalised. For the business man or woman, we are close to the Tyne Valley and Consett and can provide the perfect place to entertain business guests or, again, somewhere to simply relax.
