Mitchells of Chester

  • Inn Details

Mitchells of Chester is a wonderfully elegant Guest House owned and run by Helen & Colin Mitchell. We are Graded by VistitBritain Tourist Board and the AA at 5-STARS, SILVER AWARD, BREAKFAST AWARD; the highest graded Guest House in Chester, and are now working towards the maximum, GOLD. The house, which dates back to the 1850's, has been carefully restored to its original Victorian beauty whilst incorporating many modern comforts. It has steeply pitched slated roofs, a sweeping staircase and tall rooms with mounded cornices, providing a setting for many items of antique furniture. A large banqueting table forms the centre piece of the Dining Room. The Lounge looks out and down to unusual brick vaults tunnelling 3.00 metres under a quiet well maintained garden at the rear of the house. It has reading libraries each side of an open log fire in an original marble surround. All the Bedrooms are ensuite and are individually decorated in period style. Each has colour digital tv/dvd, controlled central heating and a host of home-from-home accessories to help make your stay comfortable and relaxed. The Guest House enjoys an excellent location in Chester, being less than 4 minutes drive from the city centre (1.2km /3/4 mile), or a pleasant and interesting 20 minute 'green' walk past mature houses of character in a select residential area, over the River Dee with views across the Racecourse to the City Walls, and immediately into historical streets. Chester is compact, beautiful and the most complete walled city in Britain. It is the historical gem of North West England and is the gateway to North Wales. The delights to be enjoyed by the Visitor span 2000 years from the Roman Walls, Norman Cathedral, Medieval Rows, the 16th Century racecourse, the canal and railway of the industrial revolution, right through to the latest designs in shopping malls.
