Bewdely is an attractive Georgian town, which sits directly upon the River Severn in north Worcestershire, an area with a rich agricultural and industrial history and a gateway to the English–Welsh borderlands known as The Marches. With the River Severn passing straight through, Bewdley has long been a favoured spot for angling, whilst the ancient woodland of the Wyre Forest surrounds Bewdley to the west of the town. This provides excellent opportunities to discover a rich diversity of wildlife, forest flora and fauna. The Severn Valley Steam Railway calls at Bewdley and the National Cycle Network Route 45 passes directly through with a number of circular walks converging on the town centre to link with the surrounding countryside. Bewdley Museum set in a historic Butchers Shambles has recently been refurbished with fascinating displays to give an insight into the trades and crafts of the Wyre Forest area. Hands-on activities and regular craft demonstrations. Plenty to see and do for the whole family, brass foundry, jails, resident crafts people, air raid shelter tours, varied exhibitions and events with lovely gardens and café.
