Inn Details
Jill and John Hodge welcome you to their home. Situated in the centre of Belford village, this beautiful 200 year old guesthouse provides luxury en-suite accommodation, award winning breakfasts and hospitality that gained Jill and John AA Friendliest Landlady of the Year 2008 - 2009 runner up. When the Great North Road ran through Belford, this sturdy and attractive house was a vital part of the London to Edinburgh stages stopping off schedule, as part of the adjoining Black Swan coaching inn. These days with the village long since bypassed, Market Cross is still an ideal resting-place for the discerning traveller, where, on fine mornings you may be fortunate enough to sample one of Jill's famous Northumbrian breakfasts, out in the open air, in the old enclosed courtyard. All rooms are en-suite include digital TV, mini fridge, a well stocked courtesy tray, dressing gowns, complimentary toiletries, fresh fruit and a glass of sherry. Breakfast is our speciality. Local produce is used wherever possible and we include local delicacies such as Craster Kippers, sausage, bacon and Sunny Hill free range eggs. A luggage transfer service is available for cyclists and walkers.
