The Countryman’s Inn is a traditional pub and AA 3 star Country Hotel in the village of Hunton, North Yorkshire, ""The Gateway to the Dales"" but close to the A1 to allow easy access to the North Yorks Moors, Herriott Country, historic York, Newcastle, Harrogate and Leeds. Ideally located for Catterick Garrison, Bedale, Richmond and Leyburn. Only 5 miles from the racehorse training centre of Middleham, stable visits and transport to the training gallops can be arranged. Offering a warm welcome and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere The Countryman's is an ideal base, with good beer and good food, you can relax in the bar with its beamed ceilings and seasonal log fire. Approved by Cask Marque in 2011, we serve 5 cask-conditioned local ales. If you have ""customer feedback"" why not share it with the head brewer of one of our ""legendary"" local breweries, You can find him at the bar every evening! The comfortable accommodation comprises of 4 en-suite rooms, all redecorated in 2010/11, all with flat screen freeview TV's with DVD player.Free bisguits, tea/coffee facilities & free Wi-Fi access. A comfortable & relaxing base from which to enjoy this unique area and its many attractions. There are many local attractions sporting, cultural, historical or rural, to appeal to all tastes, within easy travelling distance. Walking,fishing, horse riding or shooting, the stunning countryside of Wensleydale has something to offer everyone. If horse racing is your main interest there are 9 local racecourses within easy traveling distance. Our AA Diners Award winning restaurant is open for dievery evening & Friday to Sunday for lunch & has a deserved reputation for its range of locally sourced foods, all freshly repared to order and offering good value and a wide choice of a la carte, Vegetarian, Children's Menus & ""Pub Classic"" dishes are available 17.30 to 21.30. From Scotch Corner take the A1 south to the Leeming Bar junction and follow the road directions given above Leeds/Bradford/ Durham Tees Valley|Air|25|The nearest airports are Leeds/Bradford to the South and Duham Tees Valley to the North. Both are approx 40 minutes drive. Newcastle Airport is also easily accessible approx 1 hours drive. Take the A1 to the Leeming Bar juunction and follow the road directions given above. Northallerton and Darlington rail stations|Train|15|The nearest mainline stations are Northallerton (12 miles) and Darlington (20 miles). Both are about 20/25 minutes drive. Take the A1 to the Leeming Bar junction and follow the road directions given above. A1 Leeming Bar junction|Road|7.8|Exit the A1 motorway at Leeming Bar. Take the A684 towards Bedale/Leyburn. Go through Bedale market square and continue towards Leyburn. After passing through the village of Patrick Brompton take the first right,(sign posted Richmond). After approximately 1.25 miles Hunton is sign posted on the left. Turn left and follow the road for 1 mile into the village centre. At the T junction in the village centre, turn right. The pub is located 200 yards from the village centre on the left.
