Inn Details
Mel and Martin welcome you to the beautiful Exe valley where the Bark House has stood for over 200 years, originally for the storage of oak bark used in the tanning industry but now a place where you will receive warm Devon hospitality. The building is set in terraced gardens with a backdrop of wooded hillside, ample parking across the road where fields lead down to the river Exe. Inside the Bark House the cosy lounge has comfortable seating and an open fire, a small bar for residents and diners, and an intimate restaurant. On the first floor there are five bedrooms, each differing in size and with its own individual charachter, on the second floor a private suite with double bedroom and lounge. Meals are cooked by us and we provide a menu using local meats and fish wherever possible. Bampton has and excellent butcher supplying top quality bacon and sausages for breakfast. Dinner is served at 7pm with drinks in the lounge, choose your meal from the menu and wine from a list of personally selected wines from around the world. If you require dinner please reserve your dinner table when you book on line as this would be a great help to us. The Bark House is a small, personal establishment, where Mel and Martin will help you with your visit. Exmoor, North Devon and Somerset offer some of the most fantastic scenary in England, with a range of historic sites, National Trust properties and gardens to be explored.
