"Quaint, low-key, warm and inviting..."

"I grew up in a small town, but have been living in the Washington, D.C. region for nearly 13 years now. Edenton was a welcome reminder of where I grew up...it is a quaint little town where one can expect to unwind, relax and be treated with Southern comforts. We were incredibly impressed with our stay there as well as the innkeepers. We arrived late at night, but we were greeted by Michael, who told us to let him know if we needed anything at all. We were thrilled to find a clean, comfortable bed awaiting us after our long drive. Our "Reagan" room was located in the Proprietor's Inn, so because it had recently been renovated, we were the first to stay in the bed. Everything was fresh and new, the bedding was incredibly comfortable, and they provided toiletries and a complimentary bottle of wine for us to enjoy. At breakfast the next day, both Michael and Giuliano were incredibly accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was delicious...fresh coffee, fruit, Eggs Benedict with home fries, and delicious cinnamon bread, which was still warm and fresh out of the oven. Because Giuliano shares a last name with my grandmother, he stepped out of the kitchen for a moment to chat with us and told me stories of his family in Sicily. We were both intrigued with all of their antiques, so Giuliano gave us permission to take pictures of whatever we'd like. He was also kind enough to give us a tour of the rest of the rooms in the Proprietor's Inn, in addition to the on-site restaurant, which was in the process of being opened for business. When innkeepers pay attention to detail and genuinely want to please their guests, it makes for a memorable visit. Clearly Michael and Giuliano want their guests to be pleased, which further supports why they earned the "Innkeepers of the Year" title. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable stay that we didn't want to leave. However, we do intend to return and have even considered getting married there. That's how much we loved it."
