"Great Porch, Great Peace"

" We stayed at the Belmont for two nights in the hottest stretch of 2011 Maine weather. We were delighted to find that the inn was quiet (two blocks off Route 1) and yet close to town (two blocks from the harbor). It was too hot to hike the Camden hills, so we walked on shady back streets to discover the town beach, walked to the book store, walked to dinner, and also did a seven mile walking loop without having to get in the car or encounter any but very light local traffic. Early morning and late afternoon we spent alone, reading on the covered porches in front and on the side of the inn. The side porch overlooks the garden, which was blooming with flowers and included rhubarb, some of which was included in breakfast one morning. The inn has a light and friendly feel, thanks to good decorating choices and a great hostess. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend the Belmont to anyone looking to combine quiet, restful times with the opportunity to hike or get out into downtown Camden's hustle and bustle. "
