The Dupont at The Circle

My partner and I are from the U.K and had travelled to Virginia for a 10 day trip to celebrate my 40th birthday (he had booked me tickets to a Huey Lewis concert in Newport News). We spent our last night in Washington and boy was it hard to book somewhere, everywhere was either full, too expensive or way out of town. This is a nice compromise, close to the vibrant and safe area of Dupont Circle and not too expensive. The room we were given was not the one we booked, however it was better than the one we had picked! We had been warned by Anna at the Museum B & B, who had recently stayed here, that parking was a problem but that the people who ran the place would be able to find us a space round the back for $20. The only disappointment was breakfast, which was a cold buffet and help yourself, not the delightful friendly home cooked meals we had enjoyed for th previous 9 days of our visit.

I was pleased with my stay and would likely stay again in the future.

Great location!! rooms and building very comfortable and cozy. Not at all flexible with breakfast time, even just getting a cup of coffee.

My husband and I had a very nice stay. The location is great! On the whole the place is very nice and the owners are very friendly and pleasant. My problems were that the bed, although advertised as a queen, had to be a full. It seemed very small to me. The breakfast, while very nice and the food offered good, would be much better if there were some hot options. I expect a hot breakfast at a B and B. Finally, we reserved parking for our two night stay, but when we came back from dinner on our second night the spaces were full and we had to find street parking. Obviously, we were not charged for our second night of parking when we brought it to their attention, but we could have done without the hassle of it.

We were greeted by the warm smiles of the owners, who happen to live in one of the two houses. The rooms were clean, well decorated and quite roomy. Bed and breakfast's by definition are not meant to be large rooms or suites but this place offers nice sized rooms. Each room has its own private bathrooms and most of them had jacuzzi tubs. The continental breakfast was lovely and their coffee was superb. I highly recommend this place to anyone. I had stayed at The Inn at Dupont Circle once and highly regret it, it does not even come close to Dupont at the Circle. Ally

The house was old and characterful, the rooms were unique and charming, and the owners were hilarious. This represents great value for money and a much nicer environment to stay in than a big impersonal hotel.

Stayed here for Columbus day weekend. Good points: The B+B feels like a visit to your grandparents house, if they travel a great deal and have good taste. I really appreciated the artwork. Staff is very helpful and knows the area really well. Excellent attraction and restraunt recomendations. The location is incredible Not so good points: Room was on the small side. I don't mind this because I live in a city apartment, but other people probably will. Room overlooked an alley across from a popular restraunt. Noise was an issue. Internet access was not reliable.

The best B & B I have stayed at in the DC area!

This was our second stay in the English Suite. It is roomy, comfortable, easy to entertain a few guests, good safe outside entrance, and well appointed. I would stay there again. Tom

There was someone at the house to meet us on our arrival, given that the establishment is not permanently manned. The room was a resonable size and adequately furnished but the bed was a little small and it is clear that the bed base could have taken a larger matress which would have made a difference. Service was limited to room cleaning and breakfast. Room cleaning and linen changes were fine but breakfast was of the continental type on a help yourself basis with all options readily to hand. Though this was fine and there was sufficient options our experience of B&B's in the US is more usually a served cooked in addition to any cerial starters. In terms of value, this was the most expensive of the 5 B&B's we stayed in on our holiday, including NY City. Whilst it was perfectly satisfactory it was not the best considering the price but this may be arepresentative value of B&B's in Washington DC. Cleanlines cannot be faulted and we awewre well satisfied with this aspect.

What a great staff at Dupont at the Circle! They were all so kind and did everything to accomodate my requests. They make a very good breakfast, not to mention the best coffee I ever had! I highly recommend to stay here whenever in DC. I'd also like to personally thank Anna, Anex, and Alan for all their help...it turned out wonderful!

We stayed in the lovely Canopy Room. The name says it all. The claw foot tub/shower was a treat as was the great water pressure! We'll be back! Stephanie and Mark

The BB was just fine and is very centrally located to lots of shopping and dining establishments.

I spent 2 nights at the Dupont at The Circle in August, 2008. It is a beautiful property, with beautiful rooms. I stayed in the Moroccan room which was lovely. The sheets and duvets are amazing! Alan and Anexora make you feel as though you are staying with friends. I highly recommend this B&B!

I stayed in the plum suite for one night and loved it. The room is elegant, spacious, and very clean. It was the perfect romantic atmosphere for my boyfriend and I. The hosts are absolutely wonderful people. They provided us with everything we asked for (even firewood, despite the August heat). This is a very charming bed and breakfast in a great location. I would recommend it to anyone, and I can't wait to go back myself!

I love the linens, the breakfast, the cleanliness and all of the fine touches that bring class and warmth to the experience. This is a 4 - 5 star Bed & Breakfast in my book!

This was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast Inn,we have always wanted to stay at one. As a lover of the Victorian Era, staying at the Dupont was a dream come true,if only for one night! I would highly recomend staying there! We really enjoyed the Lincoln room filled with its many antiques and the replica Lincoln bed! There are plenty of nice restraunts and things to do nearby!

Washington DC is not one of my favorite cities, but this B&B brings out the best in it - a beautiful, quiet place to retreat from the busy city and adjacent Dupont Circle. Once you've stayed here, it will become your regular home on future visits to the city.

It was very lovely and much more intimate in feel. Everyone was gracious and you could engage with others or choose not to. beautiful building. We had AC in our rooms while my colleages next door at Jurys were suffering due to a hotel problem during the high temperatures this week in DC.

Just completed my 13th stay since late 1999. Initially chosen for its convenience to the Metro and discovered what a delightful place it is and its convenient location to many fine restaurants. The owners, Alan & Anexora, treat me like a family member and the staff is always ready to help and are a joy to know. I would stay nowhere else for my visits to the Smithsonian.

I went with my husband and 3.5 yr. old daughter. The English Bedroom Studio was beautiful, clean, private and just what we needed to make sure our child did not disturb other guests. The staff was so nice and wanted to help guide us through the City or just through our stay. Dupont Circle is so close to everything.....great restaurants, metro, all attractions and very relaxing at the same time. I would recommend this B&B to everyone I know and anyone who will listen. Thank you for a great time!

Lovely inn, great breakfast, excellent location. The only drawback is lack of an elevator.

I stayed in the Plum Suite - the entire second floor of the house was mine! Faux marble with whirlpool tub bathroom, sitting room, bedroom with alcoves for sleeping (canopied double bed) and a desk, old wood floors. Great late night neighborhood and the Metro only a few doors away. Staff (Leah) was very friendly - greeted me by name, and made an excellent restaurant recommendation.

Wonderful place to stay in DC; would highly recommend!

This was a perfect location for a small business gathering. Out of towners could find it easily and the metro and many restaurants are an easy walk. Anna was extremely helpful and we all felt like we were at home in our own living room.

I stayed in the English Basement apartment, which for the size and location was a great value. I didn't have the breakfast so please disregard the dining rating (there was no N/A option). I wish I had had more time to stay and enjoy the comforts of the living room, etc. I would definitely stay there again.

Great gem within D.C. The location is fabulous with great restaurants and its proximity to the Metro (about 1 blk). Enjoyed my room although I was a bit chilly (to be fair, it was about 20 degrees outside that night). Would definitely recommend and stay again if in town.

I rented the 1 bedroom apartment for a week and couldn't have been happier. Anna, the manager was terrific and very helpful. The apartment was beautiful and charming. The location was perfect for walking or taking the Metro and buses to everywhere.

The intention of my trip was to visit the US Soldier's home where the Lincoln family spent their summers and Tudor Hill, Home of George Washington's step-daughter and the Peters family. We ended up living in furnishings which some of their descendants would have been accustomed to looking out. Dupont Bed and Breakfast was welcoming, fun, friendly, and in a terrific location. Walking in and out of the door was like coming and going from my own home. Ellen Wynn

Stayed here over President's Day weekend. The location is great for parking the car and not having to move it. Metro station is half a block away. The B&B itself is nice, clean, and well kept for a building of its age. The room (Cuban) was of decent size with a very comfortable bed. The inn keeper was always there and was very helpful with anything that was needed. Bottom line is that I would stay here again.

Just stayed for 5 nights in the _enormous_ "1604 apartment" room (which is in the basement, btw, since there isn't much info on that room on their website). The whole place is very nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. It feels much more polished and well put together than a lot of B&Bs, yet still had a small and unique feel to it. I will definitely stay here again, hopefully often! only complaint: breakfast. only continental. I lazily slept through it every day, though I would have gotten up for something warm. maybe they could add eggs made to order? not too hard & would be a nice touch. but definitely not a deal breaker as there are tons of places close by to eat.
