We were on a two week trip that included the Waldorf in NY City and another luxury hotel in Texas. We spent 4 nights at the American Guest House while in Washington. It was clearly our favorite of all the places we stayed. Considering all aspects from room quality, price, staff kindness, and location, I would choose everytime to stay at the American Guest House. The Inn Keeper is an especially helpful person and we enjoyed the interaction with the other guest at breakfast each morning. When I am in DC, this is my first choice.

Wish I had found you sooner!

I found this when I was in a jam and needed a quick fix. The rates are affordable and very stable compared to other dc places. the staff are very friendly and accomodating. and its a lovely old house with beautiful furnishings. you really do feel like youve gone to stay with a relative. very quiet. and the breakfast is quite a spread and a welcome addition. lively breakfast conversation. very comfortable beds. did i mention how friendly they are? ill recommend this place to my inner circle.

Lucia, Claudio, and Jonathan, The best part of my recent stay in DC was my lodging at the American Guest House. The cordial staff, always pleasant smiles, their willingness to provide us with information, and everything else we needed, made our stay a wonderful four days. Your American Guest House will definitely be recommended by us to family, friends, and co-workers. Jonathan, I want to thank you for your delicious breakfasts that you made for us in the morning. What a great way to begin our work days while there.

With breakfast thrown in, this is a superb value for DC. Innkeeper Jonathan was attentive, breakfast was delicious. Drawbacks - not near Metro station; mattress sagged in the middle, making for less than ideal sleep.

    Innkeeper Response
DuPont Circle metro station is only 1/2 mile away, no more than a 10 minutes walk or you can take metrobus 42 right in front of the guest house to the metro station and ride it for about 3 minutes. As for the mattress condition, we are very sorry for the inconvenience to our guest and apologize for the discomfort, we were not aware of the problem, checked the mattress and it seemed OK but have replaced it to assure comfort to all our guests.

The building is lovely and well-kept. Everything was neat and clean and beautiful. The staff was helpful above and beyond the call. From the exceptionally warm and friendly welcome to the beautifully prepared breakfast, the careful attention to my room, and help with arranging my very early cab to the airport, I truly appreciate the diligent service. As a single woman traveling alone, I felt welcome, safe, and respected. I highly recommend American Guest House.
