Adams Inn

I loved my stay at the Adam's Inn. The room was lovely, very homey and welcoming, and elegantly appointed with antique furniture. Loved the beautiful historical building. Tip-top service, friendly staff, great location on a pretty residential street and a wonderfully inviting atmosphere. Thank you!

I am a return guest to the Adam's Inn - 3rd time now. It is ideally located for visitng my son who lives in Adams Morgan. The value/price is VERY good and the people are friendly although the hours for breakfast are a bit restricitve. Still a great choice. I brought my friend with me for a day of sight seeing andshe thought it was very nice. There is no doubt i will return with my husband for another visit with my sonor any time we come to DC.

It was my third time staying at the Inn, my previous two visits were in the main building, which I realize I prefer and will request in the future, the only reason being the small shower stall.

This was my first visit to the Adams Inn. I had a groupon but found I was happy to find the inn. In Washington DC, hotels are very expensive. The Inn was very reasonable, very clean, and the rooms were what they should be in an old converted row house. The staff are very nice. The continental breakfast is served at a nicely set table. I recommned the inn for people visiting the area and not wanting to spend alot of money.

We purchased a Groupon and were glad that the Adam's Inn allowed us to use it over the holiday (New Years). With the Groupon the price was quite affordable and the location is great. We were close to the subway and the bike share. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the bed and breakfast. Quite and safe neighborhood. Breakfast was pretty basic, toast, juice, and cereal.

I used a Living Social coupon so it was a great deal to stay here. The staff was friendly and hospitable and the inn is comfortable and homey. I would definitely stay there again and tell others to do the same. Location is perfect for exploring Adams Morgan and DC. Only comment I have is to fix the extremely squeaky bed in the basement room.

This B&B was super cute, felt charmingly Parisian and was affordable... my only complaint is that our room was exceedingly cold at night and we didn't have any independent control of the heat. We were approached by a lady staying upstairs from us who asked us if our room was freezing too - so it seems it was a building wide issue. Still very much enjoyed my stay, but will probably wait until spring / summer / fall to stay again.

Adam's Inn was delightful - I initially thought we were the only guests, because it was so quiet! I was surprised at breakfast to find so many other guests were present. A nice area - convenient to the Metro and multiple dining spots. I stayed with 2 preteen boys - our room was perfect, everyone had their own bed, plenty of towels, warm despite size of house, and a very nice kitchen area where we could have a snack after a busy day of sightseeing. I would recommend this B&B - we had a wonderful stay!

We purchased a Groupon and got a great deal for a 2-night stay in Washington, DC. While the check-in was somewhat lacking (no description of facilities and our garage parking space was occupied by a staff member), we were extremely pleased with the entire experience. The inn is absolutely charming from front to back and in a great location. We had an easy walk to the National Zoo, the Metro and all of the interesting restaurants in Adams Morgan. We would definitely stay again.

this was just the cutest B&B i've ever stayed at. we left too early to see what breakfast was like, but everything else was top notch.

This is one of the coziest B&B I ever stayed in. I loved the family like breakfast table in the wood paneled dining room. With the bright autumn leaves outside and the smell of fresh coffee inside, it felt like home! reception was equally welcoming and personal. Rooms quite simply but sufficiently furnished. Thank you

A comfortable B&B with great prices for DC. The location in the Adam's Morgan neighborhood is excellent with a variety of local, independent cafes and restaurants within close walking distance. The info describes a continental breakfast (instant oatmeal, cereal, breads, yogurt) and though the presentation was nicely done, it otherwise was not all that different than the standard fare of say a Motel 6. Even a basket of fruit would have been nice. Our room also did not include shampoo, or conditioner, only small bars of soap. The courtyard outside was cute, easy parking, nice people.

The facility was very clean and the location was excellent for us (within walking distance of local family member). The option to park the car was VERY important since street parking is limited. The amenities provided were sparse. The soap is tiny and there is no shampoo or lotion. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast which was minimal and tasteless: cold cereal, grocery store bagels and overripe bananas. Our frame of reference is a B&B in San Francisco which is priced about the same, nice neighborhood, well appointed, with a cooked, tasty breakfast served every morning.

Very nice house with very friendly staff and cosy rooms. Hot water for coffee and tea always available - that's great.

The staff were extremely helpful and super friendly. They went out of their way to help me make travel arrangements while in DC.

I stayed in 100A. It would have been better to have more living room space so I could set down my notebook on a coffeetable to read. If you combined two beds into one room then used the empty room to house the living room furniture that would have been better. Could put a small frig there also :-). Also, it was raining, and both my husband and I slipped when entering the door because the tiles are slippery. You might want to add a rug or two, would help decrease tracking in leaves. Otherwise, our stay was great, my dog also really enjoyed it.

Stayed here on an $89 Living Social voucher - very pleased with the help I got as a late-night check-in guest but I wish the hotel would include some printed information about local parking options, especially with the blocked streets and construction going on in the area. Other than that, the neighborhood is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Thank you so much for a wonderful night's rest :)

I went to dc on a very quick, last minute, only to find that any of the name hotels were either booked or were $400 and up. That really didn't fit in my budget for a simple bed for the night. I am not sure Adams Inn actually exceeded my expectations, but it was plenty nice. Everyone was nice. Very clean. Just a good simple room. The internet connection was better than I get at the big hotels. It is what it is, nothing more than that really. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Easy walk to subway... 10-15 minutes, and very short to a bus stop. Was able to flag a cab within a block or so in just a few minutes.

I love the Adams Inn, we were there once five years ago and just as I remember it. Nice distance to metro, charming rooms, and friendly folks. The only complaint I had was probably my fault, it was an unseasonably warm day, and because of the age of the building the heat is not controlled in each room. You have to lift the window sash and put the blocks (provided) in them to get a nice breeze going through. The breakfast was tasty and location was fabulous. Have stayed there before and will do so again. The price-point is also attractive.

I had a wonderful stay at the Adam's Inn. The room and bathroom were neat and clean and the house that I stayed in had a homey feeling to it. The breakfast was very nice with breads, bagels, toasts, yogurt, cereals, coffee, teas, etc... (and nutella!) I would definitely stay there again!

I was at the hotel at the end of October/2011, and I enjoyed an excellent stay at Adam's Inn: excellent room, excellent service, very helpful staff, good internet service (wireless), excellent breakfast, very well located (near the subway) and the neighborhood is very pleasant. I really enjoyed my stay at the Adam's Inn, and I recommend staying at the hotel to anyone wishing to spend a few days in DC.

The Adams Inn is in a nice location in Adams Morgan on a quiet street just off of 18th St, easy to reach dining destinations, bus routes and metro. Our room was comfortable and quiet, breakfast was well laid out with a nice variety (continental) and everything was delicious. We were very satisfied with our stay at the Adams Inn.

Enjoyable stay with reasonable rates. Location is close to the Zoo, but a good walk to the nearest Metro. Great room, and continental breakfast was nicely done. Not much interaction with staff. It would have been nice to have a secure place to store valuables (such as laptops) after checkout. Recommended.

Everything was good except the an upgraded breakfast would have made it much better. Excellent location in upscale neighborhood.

This Inn is simply adorable.... definitely offers a feel of 'Old Washington DC' living. As far as being called a Bed and Breakfast, my friend and I were wondering why there wasn't a warm breakfast being offered for the guests. All B&B's I've stayed in ALWAYS had an egg , bacon, sausage, toast kind of breakfast offered. The dining room was adorable, and it would have been exciting to look forward to the smells of a traditional B&B breakfast.

I am a native Washingtonian and purchased a night's stay at the Adam's Inn for a friend that came in from New York for a party through a Living Social Deal. The staff was fantastic. Lindsey was very helpful when I booked the room and the staffer who greeted us upon arrival was pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. We stayed in the English basement which included a TV and a private bath. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The only complaint I had about the basement is that it is below the dining area and adjoining sitting room. So in the morning the folks over our head for the continential breakfast made a lot of noise on the hardwoods. Normally it would've been tolerable, but after a night celebrating our friend's birthday it was almost unbearable. Breakfast is served from 7am-9am. So if you are a light sleeper or like to sleep in the basement might not be the place for you. That being said, the place is quaint on a nice street but one block in either direction and you are right in the thick of it! I would definitely do this again for out of town guests...but just on one of the upper floors.

I very much enjoyed the room, the common spaces and especially the breakfasts. Lovely atmosphere. However, two minor complaints. My request for change to use for the on-site laundry facilities was met with 'we don't do that' without any explanation as to why not. I can understand its a pain constantly to be asked for change, but if you are providing facilities that require multiple quarters then having some at the front desk would seem to be a necessity. Secondly, upon leaving (during a thunderstorm), I asked the front desk if they could call a taxi. This was met with a similar 'we don't do that'. I was instead given the phone number of a local taxi firm and a reasonably long exposition of how friendly they (the taxi firm) were. Not so easy if you have a foreign cell phone and no quarters! Surely better to spend the time just calling the taxi? Nonetheless, a positive experience overall.

I can't begin to say what a terrific expereince I had at the Adam's Inn. The inn had been recommended to me by someone who had stayed a few years ago. The location is within a very easy walk to transportation and restaurants. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, full of beautiful buildings and people going about their daily lives. I was most impressed with the staff (professional and friendly!) and the fact that the common areas are large, airy and have lots of natural light. Having free Wifi was great, but there is also access to a computer and printer (for bording passes, in my case). I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Adam's Inn. I should also note that their extensive resource center for information on locations within bus, Metro or walking distance was a nice surprise, as was all the other info that could be accessed. In closing, I will say that you will not be disappointed with the service, rooms and location!

I stayed at the Adam's Inn for one night while visiting friends in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. I had a room on the third floor with a double bed and a shared bath. The room was very clean and cute. The bathroom down the hall was small but worked just fine. I never had to wait for it to be available. Breakfast in the morning was self-serve cereal, toast, English muffins, coffee, juice, etc. I would definitely stay here again based on my one night stay.

I really did not know what to expect, and the parking was the only thing that was a bit awkward. Thankfully, I was able to secure paid parking at the Inn, but my Town & Country van just barely fit in the garage. Otherwise, all was well. Keeping cigarette butts cleaned out of the outside containers would have been nice. Not a big deal but . . . .

We've stayed at Adams Inn twice now, and quite enjoyed both visits. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the company at breakfast has always been interesting. Our only complaint is that we'd like a bit more light for reading.

I was very happy to discover such a nice place to stay just 2 1/2 blocks from my daughter on Argonne Place. I felt very comfortable and the staff was great. It was an extra added bonus that my room opened directly onto the lovely courtyard in the back and I was able to sit out among the plants and birds. I definitely plan to return.

This is a charming reliable little garden B&B in an old house in a great neighborhood. Ive stayed there 3 times over the last few years and would recommend it to anyone. - Tim

On a busy week in DC hotel rooms near Woodley Park & Dupont Circle were either at an extreme premium or non-existent. The B&B is on quiet safe street. I was only able to get a 1BR with a shared bath but it did have sink. Some people (like my wife) would have to have a bathroom in the room but it worked for me. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean. I would stay again.

Great place but no service. I asked to book taxi at 9 a.m but no taxi at 9.30. We miss our bus to New York and as we have booked ticket bus, we need to repayed news tickets.

I have stayed at the Adams Inn at least six times over the last 10 years. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The Inn is very convenient to good restaurants on 18th Street and bus transportation.

Adam's Inn is in a great location and has nice atmosphere. I recommend it highly.

Great "neighborhood" location, conveniently situated between two Metro train stations, and easy access to bus transportation. Area restaurants are never a disappointment. The innkeepers are delightful and helpful, and really want you to make yourselves feel at home. It's always interesting to meet up and chat with other guests over morning breakfast too.

My room at the Adams Inn was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The inn is nice overall, including the common spaces and garden area. The breakfast was delicious, especially the good coffee and orange juice. Overall the stay was quiet and peaceful, which is a big achievement considering how noisy DC can be.

I had previously stayed at Adam's Inn in the early 1990s and had enjoyed the atmosphere and the welcome - so much more personal than at a hotel chain. So when planning a ten-days visit from England to show my wife and children the fantastic attractions of the capital it was natural to choose Adam's Inn. I was very glad I did so, as it's not just a friendly and very well-run guest-house - it is also a short walk from the subway station (and there are frequent buses to down-town as well) and with easy access to basic local shops, to many colorful, exotic local restaurants, to the zoo, and it's a short taxi ride to the National Cathedral. The breakfast was as advertised and very enjoyable, especially the excellent coffee, and the Times and the Post were provided for news-addicts to read before breakfast.

Good location, quiet despite the presence of a fire station nearby. Private garages available in the garden ($ 20 + VAT). Cozy and well decorated. May lack a little desk to write or to a laptop. The disappointment just for breakfast in a common dining room with very little choice in limited quantities and with strict timetables.

The B & B was a very nice historical building and the room was really pleasant; and the Inn was located in a nice tree-lined neighborhood. The only negatives were that the window air conditioner didn't cool very well (there was a wall unit that didn't seem to work at all). Also, the breakfast provided was pretty meager-- no hot items.

Travelling with 2 adults and 4 children is usually quite a challenge! But we had a wonderful time at the Adams Inn. We booked 2 rooms and they were both very nice and quiet. The eldest could play board games downstairs while we took care of the youngest. The athmosphere was very relaxed and I would definitely come back on another visit to DC!

Great location, clean comfy rooms with free wi fi. If you have heavy luggage suggest you ask for a room on the lower floors as there is no elevator and the stairs are steep and narrow. Otherwise the perfect stay with excellent breajfast.

Stayed a week for a conference and vacation. Easy walk to both the Woodley Park and Cleveland Heights metro. Room was clean and basic. Maids kept it nice. We stayed in room 15 and it was a bit like having our own place as the back room opened onto the back patio and the front to the kitchen and dining area. During a busy time this could be more nosy but it was quiet while we were there. In-room bath is really tiny but workable and its nice having it in the room. The breakfast really needs some changing at least every other or every third day. Seasonal fruit (most of the time the only fruit were apples and often there were no apples) could be a great addition in a fruit salad and a large plain yogurt would be nice. Also some pastries and some boiled eggs. The coffee wasn't good as well and is perked in a big pot. Buying a single serving machine would allow people to make coffee, hot tea, cocoa, etc and may save money overall. For a one day stay the breakfast is okay but Adam's Inn would really increase its review status with simple upgrades in their breakfast. Noticed many of the people look at the breakfast and then pass on it. Enjoyable to visit with people from all around America and the world. Sat at breakfast with people from Denmark and France to name a few. Staff very helpful. Felt safe even walking late in the evening coming back from Cleveland Heights metro. Overall I highly recommend Adam's Inn, one of the few B&B's who allow children of any age.

Wonderful home away from home ... we had a huge suite, and the common areas and backyard were very nice as well. Easy walking distance to the National Zoo and public transport. Recommend the purchasing a parking space so you don't have the headache of trying to find street parking.

Not too expensive --and worth the $20 extra you'd pay to keep out of a chain motel in a less dynamic neighborhood. Picturesque residential neighborhood, pleasant quarters, curious and friendly international clientele, access to interesting multicultural commercial street scene in one direction ("downtown" Adams-Morgan) and to more upscale and chic commercial district in the other (at Woodley) --with Rock Creek Park right there at the end of the street. My second time there --and my first choice next time too. I feel very comfortable there for some reason --not a corny b&b setting with the heart-shaped pillows, but spare and clean in a quietly stylish way.

It was a wonderful place to stay. Nice area to be in. Fun to eat with guests from all over the world.

I am not normally a bed and breakfast type of traveler but this stay was wonderful. I needed a short term place to stay until an apartment I was going to rent became available. The price was very reasonable at a time most of the city was full up at other hotels. The managers were very accomodating of ongoing changes in my plans. The breakfast was a step above the usual continental breakfast.

we enjoyed our room but found no desk and chair to work on. staff, food and other guests were superb.

Loved Adams Inn. Innkeepers were very efficient and friendly. Room was nicely furnished and the A/C was excellent. Breakfast was lovely--lots of European visitors and interesting conversation (but also a side room, where you could eat in quiet if desired). Outstanding neighborhood and restaurants. My friends enjoyed their stay at the Adams Inn. They loved the style of the building and the looks and comfort of the room. The service was great. The hostess found the shoe my friend left under the bed and had it returned to her. Thanks for everything.

We enjoyed our stay at Adams Inn. It was a good experience but not an outstanding one. Certainly worth what we paid. The best part was the cleanliness for a nice surrounding. The worst was the parking. But that's DC.

Always great staying at the Adams Inn. A convenient location for us. The garage is very helpful. While breakfast is nice, it would be great if more could be added to it. Some variety, maybe some additional protein.

We had a bedroom with a "queen-size" bed that was really more like a double and a little sunroom with a single bed. The beds were only just okay. The inn is two charming houses, on a nice quiet residential street near lots of restaurants and shops, a $1 bus and the metro. Everything is very clean. The breakfast is okay: lots of bread, cereal, juice, a couple of kinds of cheese, one kind of yogurt. Guests have a shared fridge and water dispensers. There's a handy coin-op washer and dryer and a beautiful back garden to sit in. I had been there before and would go back.

I didn't have much interaction with staff due to my in and out all the time. I did like the convenience of having access to towels and washclothes if needed. I had a private bath and really enjoyed it. It is a great place to have a group of people come together and feel at home. Everthing was clean.

Breakfast doesn't start until 7:30 a.m.. That's OK for vacations but too late for business travelers who must be at meetings downtown by 8 a.m.

I'm hesitant to write a good review b/c I don't want to have it booked up each time I visit the city. My fiance and I are from DC and travel back quite often. We always stay at Adam's Inn! It's so quiet, clean and charming, you would never know you are in the middle of the city. The neighborhood is perfect; it's super close to the metro and to tons of great restaurants and bars. This last time we were there, we arrived after office hours and was happy to hear they have a process for this and we easily got into our room. Would highly recommend Adam's Inn, our home in DC!

We love the Adams Inn...its quiet and friendly, has a nice front porch for sitting and a lovely little garden out back. I rarely get to have breakfast there as I am always out the door too early, but when I do, its quite good and I always enjoy the other guests. The management has always been accommodating and courteous, its in a very pleasant neighborhood not far from transportation, it feels like home, is a great find and very good value....go enjoy it!!!

I enjoyed this superb location and the value stay that our Adams' Inn visit provided. The staff was extremely attentive to any needs that I had. However, to accomplish an improved rating in the dining area of the review may involve a simple step, such as, offer a variety of fruit daily rather than consistently apples. Perhaps an offering of waffles or pancakes on the weekends might offer more variety as well.

The adams inn is easily accessible by metro, located on a quiet street in the admas-morgan area. The breakfast was rather boring, only apples in the morning and toast and bagels.

Stayed only 1 night. Price is excellent. Neighborhood is pleasant. Plenty of amenities around. Easy walk to Metro. Room was simply furnished, adequate, but not a lot of character. Breakfast was good, not fancy. I recommend Adams Inn to those looking for relatively inexpensive but pleasant accomodations for a DC visit.

Adam's Inn provides good accommodation and in a relaxing atmosphere; the building is located in a quiet street lined with fine trees. The service is satisfactory and the staff is willing to offer help to make you enjoy your stay.

This place is a great value for your dollar. It is clean, cozy, welcoming - has a nice breakfast room and a lovely garden area for dining. Staff is extremely accommodating. Location, for us, is perfect due to the proximity to our daughter's flat. But for every guest, the busy Adams-Morgan district is interesting and unique, the B&B is a quick walk to the redline Metro, and it is also walkable to DuPont Circle. Cabs are easy to come by, even at rush hour, just a block or so away, and the major bus route also is nearby. I would recommend Adam"s Inn to anyone. We enjoy the multicultural nature of the guests, who also come from all across the USA. We have stayed here twice, each time for about a week, and during very different seasons of year. Both experiences were outstanding.

We loved the Adams Inn. Great location - so convenient to mass transportation!!!! And so close to the National Zoo! Loved the courtyard - had breakfast out there every day. Loved having access to beverages 24/7. Would you consider adding another protein choice to breakfast - maybe hard-boiled eggs? Room size was fabulous! Great job!!!! Thanks!

We stayed at this neighborhood B&B that is close to where my daughter lives in DC. Very nice location. We found parking on the street near the front of the inn. Free street parking is only available on the weekends in this area. We were able to walk to all of the places we intended to visit and had easy access to the DC Metro and bus system. Very clean and comfortable. Nice "fix yourself" breakfast provided with plenty of choices. We'll stay there again on our next visit to DC.

I stayed at the Adams Inn for four days in late April. It was an absolutely wonderful alternative to impersonal hotels. I felt welcomed and well cared for, my room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean, the breakfast was great. It's in a terrific neighborhood with a wide variety of restaurants, close to public transit and an comfortable walk down to the National Mall. I will stay at the Adams Inn any time I'm in DC.

The ladies at the desk were very competent and helpful. However the kitchen-personnel were not very attentive. They never said "Good Morning". They did not remove the dirty dishes, so we often had to clean up before we could have breakfast. As the coffee-water is put into the coffeemaschine the evening before, the coffee does not tast good !

I have stayed there twice, and hope to again in the future. Everyone there is nice. It is in a great little neighborhood and not too far of a walk to the Metro. It is a great place to come home to after seeing the site of DC.

Very lovely. It is my second time staying at Adam's Inn and both times were fabulous. Both times I stayed I was in town for business and it was nice to feel like I was at home in the midst of my work. Highly recommeded.

This past weekend was our third stay at Adams Inn. Not only are the rooms clean and comfortable, the staff extremely accomidating and the pricing more than fair, we meet fasinating fellow travelers. The only problem we've ever had is that we'd like linger over coffee and talk more with these interesting people but we always have a tight schedule to keep!

We will most certainly return to Adam's Inn when visiting our family in DC. We'll also suggest it to other family members. We loved the "neighborhood" feel, and the garden was delightful! Our room was bright and sunny, and the Inn had "character."

Clean and tidy, old-style room in a quiet street. Sharing a bathroom isn't a problem. I did like hot chocolate. Would appreciate a bit heavier breakfast but you can eat as much as you can if you wish. Not too expensive (as for NW DC).

Each time we spend time in Washington DC, we reserve our rooms with Adams Inn. They are welcoming and helpful. The value is unbeatable. Breakfast is wonderful. Good walk to the Metro, lovely neighborhood. Use of internet is easy. Lounge areas are comfortable. Meet new people from various locations.

PLEASE! PLEASE! Use fragrance free detergent / bleach when laundering the bed linens. Fortunately, I arrived by car and had a pillow I could use in my car. Otherwise, a very pleasant visit would have been ruined for me. The pillowcase on my bed reeked of fragrance and I literally could not stop coughing once I lay down on it.

Adams in in DC was very nice. I loved the charm of the 'old home' and the furniture and decore. Everyone was very nice. The inn was a lot cleaner than many hotels in the DC area. It might be nice to have some things for breakfast like waffles, eggs, and bacon (my daughters favorite). My husband was concerned that there was no fire ladder attached to the building like most of the other buildings around had. Whenever we go on vaction that is the first thing he checks out: the fire escape route. He has been this way since we married 20 years ago. The inn was right next door to a fire station, which is a huge bonus, but it would have been better to have a fire ladder either attached to building or to put out a window in case of a fire. Its a bit intimidating to be on the third floor and contemplate the possibility of exiting a building during a fire emergency. I would definately stay there again and recommend it to anyone who loves 'old home' charm of the past. We will bring our own fire escape ladder next time, just in caes. We also own an old home built in 1830's and renovated it and have our own fire ladders.

Nice distance to the metro, not too far to walk at all. Would stay again. The minor complaint we would have, would be maybe more variety of fresh fruit, but we did visit in March, so it mat be not as available. The thermostat works fine, but we just had a hard time finding a temperature that was just right.

I had a pleasent stay for the time my family and I were there. The Inn keepers were helpful on area site's and transportation needs. The dining is a true continental breakfast. For a place with charactor to lay my head down it was great. With close proximity to the Zoo and public transportation.

Educated professional types as neighbors! Very safe residential area. Lauren was very cordial & accomodating! My bed was made up every morning! I did not expect that! The housekeeping staff was hard working & conscientious. Breakfast was delicious with granola, yogurt, oatmeals, cinnamon raisin bread & everything else stated on Adams Inn website. Environmentally friendly in encouraging guests to recycle towels, recycle bin etc. Metro only 7 rather short blocks away over elegant Duke Ellington Bridge with plenty of walking space. Clean cut clientele. Came for National Bike Summit & saw at least 4 other attendees at breakfast. Had Eurpean students as well.

Clean, in a nice neighborhood, close to bus stops and neighborhood eateries. No frills, but a good continental breakfast. Friendly staff. Considering the price of hotels in D.C., a good value.

I like staying at the Adams Inn because of it's excellent location. Convenient to most of my business and public transportation in DC. It is always like returning to home. I am a private person and the Inn makes it possible to keep to myself. I have met international travelers who are interesting when I do run into other guests. I also appreciate off street parking when I need to bring a car.

A lovely, cozy and very friendly B&B in a wonderful neighbourhood. Walking distance to the ZOO and plenty of restaurants nearby.

we came into d.c. for a conference and this B & B was in prime & easy walking distance, as well as wonderful, eclectic 18th street. even in winter, all was wonderful and cozy. would most heartily recommend!

While the rates are comparable to the luxury rooms with full amenities at nearby hotels, this disappointingly modest B&B falls far short. Staff was not always on duty at the appointed hours; while Wifi is available, the staff to indicate how to access it was not. Moreover, I had to purchase an outlet adapter at a local store in order to plug in my laptop. Be sure you can drag your own bags up the stairs. No staff will assist you. Best recommendation: stay in a hotel if possible.

Unbeatable bargain in the Adams Morgan neighbourhood. The houses are nice, the breakfast plentiful (with good coffee), and the rooms are clean and charming.

We have stayed here at least four or five times in the past few years and I love it. My family of five feels like Adams Inn is our home when we leave the country for time in the "big city" - Washington DC. Even though DC IS a big city, the Adams Inn puts us all at ease because of the details, and the fact that Adams Inn is a neighborhood within a large metropolis that has its own distinct identity. From Adams Inn, it is a two minute walk to the shops and fabulous restaurants of AM, a ten minute or so walk to the zoo (which is free) as well as the shops of Woodley Park and the metro stop there. The parking at the inn is available for a nominal charge, so leave the car behind and enjoy the first class public transport in DC while you are there. The details like free coffee and tea, nice magazines and daily newspapers, a good video selection and television as well computers and boardgames in the common areas, and nice linens and wi-fi all add up to make a very nice experience. We always meet interesting people here and I find it enjoyable to see how far they travel to enjoy things that are only three hours from where I live. It truly is a world class destination, and the outdoor garden and the pet-friendly options are ones I will have to remember for the future. We hope Adams Inn stays around a good long time, because it is a unique place with a European feel....except we do not have to pay in euros or cope with jet lag once there! Stay at Adams Inn when you go to DC for a truly international experience.

This is a lovely inn, ideally located in the Woodley Park area. Breakfast went far beyond most continental breakfasts, with good, strong coffee, nice bagels, and healthy bread for toast. The room was beautiful--old-fashioned, with a good quilt on the bed and Victorian appointments in the bathrooms.

THe best choice in Washington D.C.!!!!!! We travel a lot around the US, and beleive me it's the best place we ever went to! It's very very clean, the rooms are huge, the Breakfast is awesome, and the staff is soooooo nice. We took Room 201, on the first floor with a shared bathroom. It was a very little price (169 USD for 3 per nights) and everything was perfect : we came with our little baby girl of 3 months, she had her own crib. We had two enormous beds and bathroom area in the room with a sink. Everyone is nice, the guests are all so differents (workers, business men, families, couples) and nice, it was fantastic. We even gonna go back to DC because we found that address. Laurel, the manager, provides for me the best customer experience I ever had. I'm a bit of a pain as a guest, because I'm french (LOL) and I like things very cleaned (especially with the baby) : the Adam's Inn so clean, I was very pleased. Breakfast : the most diversified and yummy I had in a hotel. There is so much, you can't try everything (jams, cereals, teas, 5 sort of breads, croissants, cheese, ham, eggs, oats with 15 different flavors, muesli,...) in 4 days.. ! Closest Metro station : Zoo (Red Line), wich is a nice area with good restaurants.

I recently(Nov, 2010) stayed three nights at Adam's Inn. I felt pampered and very comfortable. There were many small touches that indicated careful thought for guests: thick, fluffy towels; simple, but very attractive decor; large selection of breakfast items. I enjoyed the very quiet atmosphere which included no TV or phones in my room. "Green" touches included bottled drinking water in common area for filling one's own drinking cups, instructions for opting to reuse one's towels, certified natural garden, no wasteful toiletries but small sign indicating they were available on request. Staff member went out of her way to assist me with a problem. Located very conveniently near public transport. An excellent value. I plan to return soon and often to Adam's Inn.

Very good B&B, rooms are clean and price is not very expensive! Adams Morgan quarter is a good place where to sleep. We stayed here for 9 nights, all was ok. The common breakfast with other guest is a good way to meet other people... The nearest restaurants are on 18th st (5min away).

Thanks to the total ambiance in the Guest House, my week in the USA/DC flew past too quickly! The homely atmosphere at Adams was superb, making me feel like being in someone's home rather than in a public hotel. The lay-out of the building/s added to the overall charm. Breakfast was copious. Everywhere was spotless and comfortable. You even hoisted the Union Jack for your British resident. No, I am not a relative - just a darned "subject" - of Her Britannic Majesty! I have waxed eloquent since my return to the UK, singing the praises of your establishment. Hopefully I shall return next year with my grandson. The faults I found may have been due to my stupidity. (1) my inability to get quarters to stay in the phone box (2) my inability to stop the hot water running away too quickly in my wash-hand basin as the plug was so inefficient. My final crack is neither praise nor criticism, just an observation. I found the cost on the high side. Thanks for helping to make my week-long trip to DC so memorable. Dr. Bill Taylor

Comfortable, clean, great residential location near the zoo and 18th avenue ethinic restaurants. Biggest disappointment was the breakfast all cold-cereal, bagels, toast, bananas, OJ. It really took the breakfast out of B&B.

Check in was smooth, coordination by email easy. A nice escape from my meeting at the Big Hotel, and I felt at home. The walk to the Metro is lovely.

The morning breakfast is wonderful. Also overall great atmosphere, friendly folks at front desk. Even a little garden in back.

I really enjoyed staying at the Adam's Inn. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They were very uncomplicated with all my special needs and desires. The breakfast was great and the garden is a really nice place to relax. And to stay in the middle of Adam's Morgan is of course a very good starting point for exploring the city during the day and having more than enough options to eat or have a drink at night.

Located in a quiet leafy street, but close to public transport we found this B & B exceedingly comfortable. Our room was spotless and we were little bothered with having to share the shower. Guest lounges and kitchen facilities which were modern and user friendly were a special bonus and breakfasts were simple and friendly around the large table. Desk staff were very helpful and our positive experience was 'topped off' with after dinner mint treats.

The Adams Inn was perfect for our needs. It isn't a hotel and it doesn't have things like free shampoo (which I never use), but having said that, it had most of the things I needed--comfortable bed, clean, convenient, nice staff. It was very quiet in a nice neighborhood. If I could have added things to the room, it would include one or two more table lamps so that we wouldn't have had to use the ceiling lights as much. Would I stay there again? Absolutely! Thanks for helping make it a very pleasant stay.

This place gives you a tree-lined street, so you can feel as if you're a local rather than a tourist in a cookie-cutter hotel. You can walk five minutes and you're in the coolest street for the young and hip--Adams Morgan 18th street. I was not aware that Adams Morgan does not sleep! Yet Adams Inn is tucked away on a quiet side street, so you'd never know. We went because we wanted to see Belle & Sebatian in concert and didn't want to spend too much but didn't want to stay in a bland hotel either. The experience truly exceeded my expectations. The rooms are simple, but you're in a quaint brick row home on a quaint street. On our walk back from the concert we stopped in Adams Morgan 18th street and at at The Diner, open 24 hours, but just so good and hip. It was filled with people at 1 a.m. I loved the location and quaint simplicity of the Adams Inn and would return.

This is a simple, warm, very comfortable bed and breakfast on a quiet street in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. It is cozy and utterly unpretentious. Don't come looking for frills. There are no TVs or telephones in the rooms, no fancy soaps for the bathroom, no gourmet breakfast. Or let me put it another way - Adams Inn offers the kind of frills that matter to me: real peace and quiet, a staff that is warm and friendly but not over-solicitous, copies of the NY Times and Wash Post in the common room every morning, a shared kitchen where you can make a cup of coffee at all hours or store some food in the fridge... in short, a home away from home. Really.

Reception was very cold and impersonal, not a very nice first impression when you've just landed from overseas. Lady at office when I left was much more friendly. Aircon didn't work in room, and shutter could only be kept open with some clothes in the windowsill to prevent it from falling down. Breakfast the most boring I have ever had at a B+B. Old injury in my left knee broke up, and I could hardly walk. Lady at the reception noticed, but didn't offer any help in getting my 2 suitcases down from 3rd floor. I was allowed, though, to sit at the back porch till late in the afternoon on the day I was leaving and did get help to call a cab. When coming back to Washington 2½ weeks later I was able to get a 4 star hotel room in the outskirts for almost half the price I paid at Adams' Inn and closer to a Metro station. Guess what Ill do next time?

It's good that there is a fridge and a microwave for the quests. It is nice to have a big breakfirst table for all guests. So if you want to, you easily have nice conversation in the morning. I liked sitting on the veranda facing to the garden or the the road

Our room at Adams Inn was nice and clean, the staff were friendly and the location is good and you feel very safe. There is no dinner being served, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. We shared a bathroom which was big and very clean. There are some nice common areas which encourages interaction with our visitors which is nice, but be aware the rooms don't have TV or Music facilities of any kind.

Thanks all, for such relaxing accommodations in the DC area. My conference time precluded taking advantage of the breakfasts so I can't comment on that.

We felt lucky to be at Adams Inn last week during a beautiful weather week in Washington, DC. The outdoor areas were in full bloom, the evenings cool and inviting and our room was well air-conditioned during the warmth of the day. The location, warmth of the staff and variety of guests from around the world made our stay at Adams Inn a very enjoyable stay. We hope to return in the future.

We stayed in the Adam's Inn in early September of 2010. The weather was wonderful and we took advantage of the tables outside in the pretty garden to enjoy our breakfast. We also enjoyed sitting on the porch and looking at the cute neighborhood. Two blocks to the bustling Adams Morgan 18th street, where you can find plenty of restaurants and night life. Rooms were simple, but fine for the price paid. Other guests were various nationalities and were interesting to talk with. We had a positive experience and would stay there again.

Still in mourning after the sale and closing of Kalorama Guest House, which was my home away from home for over a decade. I'm a native Washingtonian. Anyway, The Kalorama recommended the Adams Inn. Sparse in comparison. 3 P.M. check in is awfully late since I arrive in town on the early train for a full business day. My serious concern was about security. When I finally checked into my room the first evening of my arrival I met the young Frenchman staying nextdoor. We had a friendly chat and I gave him some advice of a local. Then he showed me that he was given keys to 2 rooms and wondered why. One of those keys was to MY room. Another guest was given the spare key to MY room!!! As a general rule that's dangerous. That key could have gone to some creepy guy. I could have been robbed or worse, especially as a woman traveling alone. I told the young lady at the office the next morning. At first she was casual saying they were trying to locate him and knew about the mistake. She referred to it as an inconvenience for me. Nice that she gave me a 20% discount for said, but still, it was dangerous and careless. I'd tolerate the rest and stay there again, but for this I don't feel safe there.

We live a block from the Adams Inn, and we're new parents of the Earth's cutest baby, so we have frequent out-of-town visitors. We send them all to the Adams Inn, and we haven't had a disappointed customer yet. Everyone is charmed by the unique setting, kind staff, and sense of welcome they all feel. Come here without hesitation!

I delayed my booking and recieved the last available room, an english basement. I was very pleased with the quality of the room, the kindness of the staff, and the monring breakfast. I was looking for something affordable in this location. It was exactly the right choice. I would stay here again.

I enjoyed many features of my stay at Adams Inn. It is located in a tree-lined neighborhood with a healthy walk to the metro station. 'Crumbs and Coffee' is just up the alley for early risers, and the Safeway Super Market is just as handy for food and drinks at a reasonable price. Having access to a refrigerator is a plus. I ate my dinners at 'The Diner' on 18th Street. No TV in your room. I had to leave before 7:30 a.m. to attend a Summer Institute, so I couldn't eat the breakfast that was included in my stay. Friendly roomers.

We traveled with our 1-year-old and stayed 4 nights at the B&B. The Woodley Park metro stop was about a 15-minute walk, which was not a big deal for us, even with a baby in the stroller. The staff at the Adams Inn were super friendly and even had a crib set up in our room when we arrived. There was also a high-chair in the breakfast area. We shared a bathroom with 2 other rooms but it was never an issue. The heat in DC was unbearable but the AC unit kept our room nice and cool. We loved this place and will come back again on our next visit.

The bed and breakfast was a good value for the money, but we chose to visit Washington D.C. in June/July, and it was VERY hot. We were put on the third floor of the building, and had a window air conditioner. It took a very long time to cool down. We left early for this reason. The shared bathroom didn't have any A/C, and was very uncomfortble. So....I would reccomend this place if the heat doesn't bother you, or if you visit anytime other than the summer.

This place is so welcoming. I didn't want to leave! 2 beautiful old houses with ample common areas to relax, kitchens to prepare food, Tv, internet..all the comforts of home! The bathrooms and kitchen areas are constantly cleaned by the diligent staff, and the breakfast food is always topped up and fresh. Great location too, near lots of excellent ethnic restaurants and bars in Adams-Morgan area and subway. Highly recommended

This was the second visit to DC in which I stayed at Adam's Inn. It is very well located in a lively neighborhood with proximity to many diverse attractions, as well as being easily accessible to public transportation. It is also low-key, comfortable and charming and seems to attract a friendly, pleasant clientele.

The room #15 was as expected. Laurel was very thorough in her descreption of the room & the facility in general. Laurel the manager is very friendly & attempts to go out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. Unfortunatly the others that fill in for her when she is away are not as helpful and give the impression that you are bothering them. The B & B is located in a very quiet area & the metro & bus are also withinn an easy walk. It was nice to have restaurants close by. I do recommend Adams B & B for budget travelers, looking for a clean quite residence.

The Adam's Inn had everything we could have wanted. My boyfriend and I are big on "atmosphere" and they created an amazing one. The garden in the back was beautiful, the rooms so cute and quaint. Not to mention how friendly the staff was! We were without a car but the Adam's Inn put us in walking distance of 2 metro stops, the zoo, AND endless restaurants, bars, and shops in the Adams-Morgan area. We would definitely stay again!

It is very difficult to find a reasonably priced hotel in the Adams-Morgan area. Our daughter lives about a block and a half down from this bed and breakfast and recommended we stay there on our recent mini-family reunion in DC. The English basement that sleeps 5 was absolutely perfect for us and very reasonably priced! It's small and you won't choose it for the window light, but we weren't there except at night and it had a great arrangement for 5 people in two different families to sleep. We were within a 10 minute walk to the zoo and a very easy walk to either the Woodley Park or Columbia Heights Metro. The breakfast is pretty pedestrian, but it would cost you $10 at Starbucks, so to have it included in the price we paid to sleep 5 people was a bargain and all we needed. There are bed and breakfasts that specialize in ambience. This one specializes in very comfortable, extremely reasonable room rates in an area of DC that I like. I highly recommend it.
