The Augusta Rose Bed and Breakfast was built in 1891 as a single family home. It is located on a corner lot surrounded by a neighborhood of beautiful old homes. The house itself is a Queen Anne style Victorian with a turret and two small balconies. It features a large stained glass window in the staircase landing and smaller stained glass windows in the living and dining rooms. The woodwork in the main floor is ornate and well preserved. In the summertime, the wraparound front porch is the most popular "room" in the house. It reflects a slower, more gracious time, when neighbors walking by would (and still do) stop for a minute to chat. The second floor of the house is dedicated only to the Bed & Breakfast. It has four guest rooms, five bathrooms and two sitting rooms. The bedroom furnishings are primarily family heirlooms.

Come enjoy the only Bed and Breakfast in NW Ohio that sits directly on the banks of the Maumee River. Choose from one of our four first floor guest rooms in our restored flour mill. Enjoy relaxing on our garden patio, walking the tow path, hiking and biking in a nearby metro park or bird watching along the river. A homecooked breakfast is served each morning and there is always time to enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee or tea along with one of Kathy's famous scones, biscotti, or cookies. Our guests tell us that they feel right at home. Kathy and Ron, your innkeepers, live upstairs, close enough to assist you, but far enought to offer privacy. We have three bedrooms each with a queen size bed and a private bath. There is a common room on the main floor where guest can mingle. On weekends, refreshments will be served in the afternoon and/or the evening. In the morning, you will receive a full American style breakfast featuring fresh fruit, freshly brewed ground coffee, spiced teas, and homemade specialties of the day. During the week, refreshments will be served in the evening only. A European style breakfast will be served in the morning consisting of fresh brewed coffee, tea, and assorted pastries and rolls. Special arrangements can be made for a romantic picnic, your room filled with your favorite bouquets, or a special box of chocolates. This wonderful combination is the result of fulfilled dreams met by Nate and Linda Brinkman. In 2001, after 30 years of marriage Nate Brinkman purchased a 1/8 scale Boston and Maine live steam engine. Soon after he convinced Linda to allow him to lay some 7 1/2" gauge track to be able to run his train at Home. Before she knew it, he had surrounded their little 1100 square foot home with 2300 feet of railroad track. Being a welder by trade, he began to build passenger cars and a transfer table to allow other people to run their engines on his track. Linda Brinkman quickly realized that this life long dream would only compliment her dream of owning a Bed and Breakfast. Creating the space required would mean a major renovation to their little home, so in 2002, Linda, a remodeling contractor, increased their 1,100 sq. ft. home to almost 3200 sq. ft. It was an overwhelming undertaking, but once it was completed the whole Greater Toledo area was taking it in. Several newspaper article have been written about their projects and even a television interview was done. Linda and Nate are enjoying every minute and would like to share what they have with you.
