Awaken Inn

The wife and I stayed the weekend of June 25. The house is beautiful, the hosts very accomodating and helpful, breakfast was delicious. The property is gorgeous as well. We plan on going back.

Let me say I'm spoiled and I hate hotel and motels., I'm a bed and breakfast addict. When I find ones I like I stick I stick with them.This is out second visit to Awaken Inn and we brought more family with us this timeand they agreed with us that this is the place to be to regroup for a few days and relax. The food is the best! Marianne,Cathy and Ed will do anything thet can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable--you can't go wrong--and the pool--is just the icing on the cake! I hosted a bridal shower for my dear friend at Awaken Inn and was absolutely blown away by the considerateness and service of the owners! Cathy and Marianne went above and beyond to help make sure the shower was absolutely perfect. We were able to use their conference/spa area for the luncheon and games, then headed outside to the garden where the bride opened her gifts poolside. The pool is salt water and looked absolutely pristine. Guests raved about the beautiful setting and tranquil atmosphere! I was also able to tour the guest rooms and they are amazing! They each have their own theme (Water, Fire, etc.) and are all so lovely and very detailed. I recommend this Bed & Breakfast for your next special event or weekend getaway!

It felt like we were staying at a good friend's house. Cathy and Marianne were helpful with all our questions and made the most delicious and filling breakfasts. Perfect get-away!

We were so fortunate to discover the Awaken Inn in Millsboro Delaware. Who knew this lovely, peaceful spot was located near wonderful shopping and history! We stayed in the Earth room and felt immediately relaxed and pampered in this lovely room, with a private sitting room, and a wonderful master bath. We enjoyed morning walks around the property after our gourmet breakfast each day. In addition to our cozy sleeping accomodations, we hosted a large family gathering at the Inn. There was so much space for our family to sit by the fire place, visit, and mingle in such a warm setting. We cannot wait to return again!

Stayed in Water Room. Beautiful bath and views out to back...unfortunately it was winter and we were unable to enjoy the private outdoor terrace and pool. The fireplace in the common area was roaring and welcoming on a cold winter's night. The inn keepers were very accomodating to us as we were both "special needs" diners...gluten free and sugar free were provided with no problem. We will return to enjoy this inn in the summer....

This is a absolutely beautiful place. Decorated to perfection. Attention was given to every detail. Everything is done just right. The grounds, gardens, and the pool are fabulous. A great, quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded beach, yet close enough to Lewes, Rehoboth, Cape Henlopen State Park and Bethany to enjoy their beaches and restaurants if you so choose. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had a fun 2-night getaway to the Delaware shore area. The Awaken Inn is beautiful and the mother-daughter innkeepers Marianne and Cathy did everything possible to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Breakfasts made by Marianne were delicious by candlelight. The suite had a separate, very inviting sitting room. Some guests might be turned off by the location accessed by dark, uninviting country roads leading to the Inn but once you arrive, the grounds are amazing with waterfall, beautiful patio, salt water swimming pool, etc. Cathy gave us excellent recommendations on where to go for beach, food, etc. and we saw an outstanding 6-piece band at Rehoboth beach The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue - motown and soul -- lead singer Elliot Currie has passion, showmanship, and a voice range not often heard --follow this band, they will make it BIG. Very nice home and atmosphere. Hospitality, conversation, and food were excellent. Spent three nights and days in the area, and my wife and I had a wonderful experience.

The Awaken Inn is a beautiful place! It is very exciting to arrive and see how each room is exquisitely decorated according to elemental theme. The bed I used in the Water Room was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. Maryanne and Kathy are very gracious hostesses and met all of our needs and desires. They think of everything and even folded the toilet paper in a decorative manner. The breakfasts were delicious! The place settings were very fancy. The pool is so refreshing. With salt water there is no chlorine odor. They give you towels and there were even elegant robes hanging in the bathroom for us. I felt like a Queen while there. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone who wants a little Special Treatment! Nancy Papa Doran

We are return visitors and this year was equal to the quality of last year. We went to Rehoboth each evening and used Henlopen State Park for the beach. We loved the on sight saltwater swimming pool and and the private porch. The owners were super accommodating and the food was delicious.

This was a beautiful weekend. Cathy and Marianne were gracious and very attentive to all of our needs. The rooms and the grounds were beautiful and peaceful. We really felt as though we "got away" yet we were close to the beach and as much activity as we wanted. Breakfast has never tasted better!!!

Our family had a wonderful stay. Our kids had a separate room that they absolutely loved! It was so pretty and so clean and more than we expected. The breakfast was also wonderful and they went over and above to accomodate my daughter who has celiac. It was so nice not to have to worry about what she would eat. Everything was just great!!

A most beautiful setting, large well appointed rooms, with convenient location to all surrounding areas. Terrific find!!

Beautiful house, lovely grounds, warm hospitality, and ample privacy! My room was more of a suite with a wonderfully comfortable bed and a spacious sitting room. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! Marianne & Cathy were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. This Inn has a peaceful blessed quality that is difficult to put into words but apparent immediately upon arrival. The pictures on the website do not do the rooms justice. I hope to return and I highly recommend Awaken Inn.

We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We would definitely go back. The innkeepers were very friendly and hospitable. The grounds were beautiful.

This place was an absolute jewel of a find. The photographs do not do justice to its beauty and appeal. From the moment we turned into the driveway it exceeded our expectations. There was such exquisite attention to detail right down to the gourmet breakfast. The owners were very accommodating. I was especially grateful for Marianne's willingness to accommodate my running schedule and hold breakfast for me and for Cathy having mapped out my 14mile run. We spent the mornings in the pool and spent the afternoons at local yard sales, flea markets and antique stores. It was the perfect getaway.

The Awaken Inn is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The gardens and pool area are clean and beautifully laid out. The breakfast is excellent.

The pool out back is amazing! The rooms are elegantly designed, but not too over-the-top. We stayed in the Air room (there's also Earth, Water, and Fire) and it was even nicer than we expected. We got to relax in the common area downstairs and watch the NBA finals at night, and play games found in the library. Breakfast was amazing. Maryanne made us quiche that was out of this world. Oh, and it's very quiet in this area, a perfect place to get away.

The Inn was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Salt water pool was awesome! We will be back again and again. This place is a real find.

From the moment our hostess met us at the front door when we arrived to the wonderful and tasty gourmet breakfast the next morning, we knew we were in a special place. The rooms were tastefully decorated in "Earthy" themes. The outside grounds were nicely landscaped with many wonderful places to sit and enjoy. Definitely a B & B to visit again.

This bed and breakfast was a delight- thank you Marianne and Cathy- You both are a natural at making guests comfortable and special.

Completely exceeded our expectations

My wife and my first experience at a bed and breakfast was an extremely positive one. The innkeepers were very attentive and had great dining recommendations. The accommodations were unbelievable.

When we arrived, unaware that what we thought were on-line reservations, had not actually reached Awaken Inn, Marianne Schap was so welcoming that it was several hours before we realized we were a complete surprise! The Inn is absolutely lovely. It is exquisite! My husband and I felt so "at home." Delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes, sausage AND bacon, fruit, yogurt, banana bread, crumb cake - great coffee - and snacks for the road. Lovely views - unfortunately it was raining so we could not use the salt water pool which looked very inviting. Other guests told us how much that had enjoyed their swim laps earlier in the day. One of them enjoyed a very nice massage on the premises and returned before we resumed our travels, telling us how very wonderful that experience was. We are going to recommend this destination to our friends and family and we hope to return one day.

While surfing the net late one Sunday night, I ran across information about the Awaken Inn. The details about the Awaken Inn was just what I was looking for. When I arrived, I was not disappointed. It was the best two days of vacation that I have had in a long time. I have been telling my friends about Awaken Inn ever since I have been back.

Room was comfy, breakfast was great. Loved the backyard and pool. Hostesses were very nice and helpful.

The owner was very friendly and helpful about local restaurants. Her breakfast quiche was superb! Bathroom in the Water Room was superb. Highly recommended. Chris E.

The Awaken Inn is gorgeous--everything you'd want in a bed and breakfast. Our room was beautiful and the service (including wine and cheese on the patio and recommendations for things to do in the area) was topnotch. Plus, the breakfast was delicious. It's also conveniently located within easy reach of all the Delaware beaches. I can't say enough good things.

My hubby & I had a wedding to attend at Baywood right up the street. We stayed at the Awaken Inn and absolutely loved it. The rooms were fantastic and spacious. Everything was very clean, the landscaping was beautiful. Our breakfast was astounding (amazing quiche, delightful fresh fruit, decadent breads and truly good coffee). It was more than we could have asked for and we're looking forward to another trip back.

The entire house is very well maintained and clean, and the decor is simple and classy. The location is not too far from the beach and town but far enough to be out of the way, making for a very relaxing environment inside and outside of the house. And the innkeepers are very friendly and eager to help make the stay comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

It was a absolutely wonderful stay! We will definetly be back! So peaceful and serene--the Awaken Inn is tucked away from all the hustle and bustle! It was one of the best weekend trips my husband and I have taken in a long time! Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality!

I booked this B&B because it was one of the cheapest I could find near the beaches. It was less than the Holiday Inn Express! The drive to the beaches was not bad at all, and the entire experience was incredible. Our room was beautifully decorated and prepared, down to plush bathrobes tied with bows. The bathroom was utterly luxurious, with a giant shower, old-fashioned tub, and heated towel rack. We had our own porch area, overlooking the pool and garden. We were served a delicious, homemade breakfast with every imaginable food available. I thought it would be a nice experience from the online pictures, but they do not do this inn justice. If I had the money I'd stay here for a week!

Our stay was only one night but it was a wonderful, peaceful experience. Marianne was a welcoming host, Earth Room with its sitting room was lovely, breakfast was delicious served in the dining room. We will recommend it to family & friends and would definitely visit again. Barb & Jim from NJ

Our stay at the Inn was very special for both if us.10 year ann. Awaken Inn made us happy and feel welcome and wish the weekend would not end.We will return again all in good time.

Awaken Inn, located a short distance from the Delaware beaches, is one of the nicest B & B's I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The rooms are beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The service and cleanliness are outstanding. The food was delicious, prepared to order. The innkeepers are a delight. It's a "must stay" when visiting the Delaware shores.

Not for summer only ...from the roaring fireplace, lovely breakfasts, and comfortable rooms, the Awaken Inn is a wonderful experience throughout the year. Take along that book or project you've been meaning to get to and let yourself relax!

I am 13 and my grandma took me there for my Birthday, it was absolutely relaxing and quiet. I would definitly recomend this place for adults who just need to get away from it all. The breakfast was amazing, and the service was fanominal! I stayed in the Fire room. Thank You.

We stayed over New Years Eve and the day after. The Bed and Breakfast is absolutely beautiful. The pictures on the website, really don't do the place justice. There is a massive real (not gas) fireplace in the living room and it is so comforting to hear the fire crackle and pop in the evening. We stayed in the dead of winter, but were able to clearly see how beautiful the property and landscaping was, so we can't wait to see it when we return during the Spring/Summer. Most importantly, the mother/daughter inkeepers, Cathy and Marianne, were so dear, very accomodating and knowledgeable about the area. They even mapped us out a few routes to get to more remote areas so that we could get some good pictures of wildlife. We will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I took my elderly mother to Awaken Inn for one night. From the moment we arrived until we regretfully had to leave, our stay was more than wonderful. The entire location is clean and refreshing with our every want and detail met. I would go back in a heartbeat and will tell all my friends to make plans to stay at Awaken Inn when they visit the shore.

Awaken Inn was the perfect place to get away and relax. The Innkeepers are warm and welcoming and the Inn and grounds are stunning. It was a prefect weekend!

We stayed in the AIR room, and shared the bathroom with friends that stayed in the fire room. The stay was great! We were greated with wine, snacks and friendly smiles. Our rooms were very clean and crisp. The outdoor setting was awsome with the soothing water, and comfy outdoor furniture. The first morning breakfast was pancakes (the best) and when we requsted chocalate chips in ours it was no probelm. the cofee was to die for. The service was above any we have came accross. when we called while driving to ask where to eat not only did they recomend places they called to check avalibilty and gave directions. this is a awsome place to stay, our only concern was the low water pressure in the bathroom. make sure to visit this inn!!!

Upon arrival, found staff friendly and immediately available. Tour of property was complete and unhurried. Room (Fire Room) was well appointed, and although did not share a bathroom, it certainly was large enough for accomodating 3-4 guests at a time. Towel warmers, spotless rooms and house overall, well maintained landscaping - it's hard to believe this place is less than one year old. What a babe! Food was delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Yummy! Tasty snacks available 24/7. One and only concern - PLEASE SUPPLY INSECT DETERRANTS - especially around the pool (which was impeccably clean). Tanning is fun in the chairs surrounding the pool, patio and hot tub. Just prefer to not be bitten by late summer bugs. Thank you for your hospitality, I certainly will be coming back!

I stayed here on a business trip and it was fantastic. The mother/daughter duo were very nice and flexible with our accomodations and it was a very relaxing place. I don't usually sleep well in hotels, but I slept pretty good and was refreshed the next morning. Plus it was nice to smell pancakes and sausage being prepared as I got ready for my day. It felt almost like I was staying at my parents house when I visit. Don't miss out on this great find!

Beautiful room (earth), delicious breakfast (great coffee) and relaxing atmosphere. We were only there overnight but it was so peaceful that it felt like we had disengaged from the world for a week. It would have been nice to have a hair dryer in the room, but that was a minor inconvenience. The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful. Great massage and I love the pool and landscaping. Definitely a favorite!

These inkeepers are the nicest people, they know how to make you feel at home the moment you get there. The rooms are luxurious, comfortable and beautiful. So clean too!! The outside grounds are like paradise. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub continously throughout the day and night. We will be returning and referring our friends to this B&B.

Incredibly relaxing place a short drive/bike to the shore. Comparable price for many local hotels, but with a great breakfast, awesome rooms, hot tub, pool, and frogs. Would definitely come again!

Let me just say the pictures dont tell enough of the story and do not do the "INN" any justice!! the hospitality was tremendous, the food delicious and the facilities exquisite....no need to even say which room I stayed in becuase it would not have mattered. If you dont completely enjoy this place then you dont need to travel!!! Five stars any day of the week.

What a wonderful place the mother daughter team at the Awaken Inn have created! Upon my arrival I was greeted with wine, cheese and crudites and felt the stress of traveling melt away. I chose to stay in the Water Room...the one with the great tub and shower. It was utterly delightful! The inn is tastefully decorated with a beautiful collection of antiques and other pieces which give the eye something beautiful to look at at every turn. The gardens are simply enchanted, with statuary and other ornaments tucked into the nooks and crannies. I'm sure that fairies and other spirits inhabit it. After an evening hot tub, I slept like a baby in the super comfortable bed. In the morning, breakfast was cooked to my dietary specifications so I felt totally cared for. Our hostesses were very helpful, recommending local eateries and attractions and providing excellent directions. I went on this vacation/retreat with my sister and one afternoon after returning from a day out we got out our Yoga mats and practiced with our DVD in the conference room which was just perfect for this purpose. When we left after a few days I felt renewed and pampered....a girl can't ask for much better than that. Go there yourself and enjoy!

I stayed at the Awaken Inn during a much needed get-away. From the moment I arrived on the property, I felt the tension melt away. The landscaping is beautiful as is the inn's exterior -- elegant yet welcoming. I was greeted warmly by the innkeepers - a mother/daughter team who worked to make sure everything was just right. I enjoyed laying out my yoga mat, popping in my yoga tape, and enjoying the sound of the water fall outside the door as I did my practice. (And if there were several of us, we could have used the conference space for our practice!) The hot tub afterward was lovely. (I'm only sorry I was there too early in the season to swim in the salt water pool.) I stayed in the Earth Room -- a beautifully decorated warm-toned room with a very comfortable bed, and a separate sitting room -- with lovely chairs and lighting just right for reading. The details in the rooms, the gardens and throughout the house were meticulously attended to -- from the jewels in the garden to the delightful touches throughout the house. Last, but not least, the breakfasts were amazing. Rich coffee, luscious fruits, wonderful bakery items and eggs cooked to order. I cannot wait to return and try out another room, the pool, and to walk around the wonderful property. Thank you Awaken Inn!

I've stayed at Awaken Inn twice now. On my first visit I needed a quick get away from the husband and children. I work full time and am a full time student. I stayed in Earth. The attached sitting room was exactly what I needed to sit, relax, read, and just think without any interruptions. I'm not one who will go on a nature walk but grounds are so inviting. On my second stay, I attended the Wellness Weekend. OMG! The massage was amazing. I didn't think I'd be into the activities but they were thought-provoking, non-intrusive, and grounding. I stayed in Water that time. The pictures on the website don't paint an accurate picture of the Water Room. The shower has eight shower heads and is large enough for five people to stand in. The tub is as luxurious as it looks. Right outside my room was the hot tub. Even in November it felt great. I brought work with me and was able to log on the internet without a problem. Unlike Earth there was no attached sitting room. Instead there was a very comfortable sofa that lulled me to sleep. When I check out, I feel recharged. It's a great place to go and relax. It was very close to shopping and the beaches without being part of that environment. I appreciate that young children aren’t allowed. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. This is a best kept secret!
