A wonderful introduction to the Czech Republic

    August 07, 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at Stone Angel where we received a warm a friendly welcome from Daniela and her husband Ondrej the farm is beautifully converted and is very comfortable and we wanted for nothing during our stay. If you enjoy beautiful countryside peace and quiet mixed with some absolutely wonderful castle's and Chateaue's this is the place for you, southern Bohemia is a jewel in the crown of the Czech Republic. Our hosts also provided ideas and suggestions as to where to visit and our week went much to quickly but we will return to sample more of the delights that the Czech Republic has to offer so thank you once again Daniela Andy and Hazel Beete.

idylic way to experience Czech countryside & hospitality

    August 05, 2011

We stayed for three lovely nights in July. Daniela is a wonderful host, making us feel warm and welcome via email even before we arrived. She gives great directions to this 'off the beaten path' village in Bohemia. It is a gorgeous farmhouse that they've lovingly restored with a wonderful decorative flair. The breakfasts were fantastic, and Daniela is a wealth of knowledge about the region - in terms of historical sites, activities and food. Her time living in the US made it easy to communicate and share our cultural perspectives. We also had dinner prepared two nights and both were outstanding. The rooms we stayed in (Philadelphia and Keystone) were cozy and quiet. Every little detail is taken care of. If you'd like to spend a few relaxing days just an hour and a half south of Prague exploring castles or just relaxing, we highly recommend this wonderful home.

    Two more Texans

    August 17, 2010

We were one of the three couples from Texas mentioned below and I can’t say too many good things about our experience at Stone Angel. We could not have designed a more relaxing environment to begin and end our days’ excursions to Prague and the Czech countryside. Breakfast was a marvel, for both me, a “non breakfast” type and my husband, who lives for the meal. On request Daniela prepared two magnificent dinners for us, one, weather permitting, outside under the stars and the other in the cozy dining area. She and Ondrej are obviously very proud of their country and are a wealth of information on its history and current status and are happy to be your personal “tour guide”. Don’t miss this opportunity.

    Texans in CR

    August 14, 2010

Our 5 nights at Stone Angel were highlighted by our host's generous hospitality, beautiful cooking, and proud sharing of local culture with stories of the country's evolution. Breakfasts were sit-down lingering times when we'd plan each day with Daniela's help, over tasty and filling inventions like fruit crepes, or french toast, or hearty eggs with potatoes, always with an array of side dishes to satisfy any appetite. Our first night there, she prepared a white-tablecloth affair on a beautiful stone table in the garden, fine fare in the fresh air with friends. And another night, after I'd told her that I was longing for vegetables, she prepared a lovely dinner of long-simmered vegetable sauce for her pasta along with 4 vegetable side dishes. Her home-grown herbs feature in her dishes. She is a considerate lady. But it wasn't just about the food. Daniela and Ondrej are gentle-spoken but educated people who are both interested in their guests and interesting to their guests. We were 1 of 3 couples who traveled together from Houston, Texas because we'd heard Prague was beautiful, awash in history, and affordable. We were happy that we chose Stone Angel as the hub of our daily adventures into Prague, castles, the river, and the country.

Stone Angel: not to be missed

    October 15, 2009

If forced to choose between visiting Cesky Krumlov or staying at Stone Angel Bed & Breakfast in Prilepov, I would stay at Stone Angel. Cesky Krumlov is nice, but it is obviously oriented towards tourism. For a true experience of Southern Bohemia and its people, join Daniela and Ondrej Simon around their kitchen table. Once you get to the intersection of Rt. 4 (Prague to Strakonice) with Rt. 19 (Plzen to Tabor), turn left, and eastward. After crossing the Orlik dam the road goes uphill and shortly you get to intersection Kostelec – Kovarov. You turn left there, north-east. After half a mile there is a sign Prilepov 1km. You turn right, south-east. One km long road to Prilepov. You pass a fire station on the right, a small chapel on the left, and immediately after you cross narrow creek. The first road to the right leads directly to Stone Angel. Two high linden trees, the bench between them, number 14 on the gate and an American mail box tell you are here.
