"Great Place to Stay!" TripAdvisor Review -- In the rolling hills of one of Connecticut's most beautiful villages the upscale Orange Gild Bed and Breakfast has just opened their doors for you this summer: a classic New England Saltbox on the outside, modern European comfort on the inside. Enjoy the spacious guestrooms, relax in our luxurious spa and try some traditional Dutch dishes at your lavish breakfast like 'poffertjes', 'spekpannenkoek', or 'krentenbollen', all home made using our grandmothers' recipes. The creative owners also give painting (plain-air) and flower arranging workshops, very reasonably priced for guests. Washington is a perfect under two hours getaway for New Yorkers and is in the center of the antiques trail and the winery trail. You can spend your time actively with hiking, biking, and driving in the scenic Litchfield Hills. The Orange Gild is close to many boarding schools in the Litchfield Hills in Connecticut.

We stayed here one night while in town for summer camp drop-off. The hosts, Mariane and Ron, were very kind and unobtrusive. They gave us a few dinner recommendations for local places that could accommodate my dietary requirements, pointed us in the direction of some antique shops, lent us a map (phone service spotty in the area, although the inn itself has wifi), and we were off. The room was extremely relaxing, well kept, and very tastefully decorated. Bed was huge and comfortable. Perhaps the best part was the homemade Dutch breakfast the next morning; tasty and chock-full of seasonal fruits. Highly recommended.

A fairly new B&B but surely here to stay for a long time. We were here a few nights and it was absolutely superb. We stayed in the Pasithea room which was beautifull and spacious. Loved the very nice decorated bathroom with wirlpool. The owners are very kind and highly service minded, you can ask them for anything. Downstairs the living room and dining room are available for the guests and have a very nice atmosphere. Included are various drinks. Location is also great, very nice surroundings and lots of great places to visit during the day. The breakfast is everything that is mentioned on the website: lavish. From (Dutch) pancakes to home made muffins and smoothies. In one word: Perfect. Next time we are in New England, we will definitely book this B&B again.

Everyday we serve fresh rolls and Dutch raisin bread we bake ourselves, with a variety of jams, cream cheese and real chocolate sprinkles (imported from Holland). There will also be fresh fruit and we will prepare our special Orange Gild Breakfast Smoothie for you. If you have a sweet tooth you will enjoy our freshly baked Dutch pastries like Puddingbroodje and the real Dutch Mini-Apple Pie. All of this would be a nice breakfast in itself, but for most of our guests the highlights of breakfast are the two Specials of the Day: everyday we serve one sweet and one savory Special which are all based on classic Dutch recipes. We use the recipes our grandmothers learned from their grandmothers and give them a modern twist. Poffertjes, Three-in-the-Pan and Egg Salad Cups are some examples of our original Dutch dishes. Sometimes we incorporate American influences and end up with American-Dutch fusion recipes like Wentelteefje Banana Bake, Dutch wraps and Egg Casserole; maybe the Ameri-Dutch kitchen can become a new trend! We serve different Specials of the Day everyday. If you stay with us for a couple of days you will not get the same breakfast every morning!
