      From San Jose take route 32 east to Limon. From Limon turn right at the Texaco gas station and follow the signs south to Cahuita./ Puerto Viejo. Totem Hotel is at Km 1.5 south of Puerto Viejo, on the Manzanillo Road.

      The road from there to Limon (approx 2 hrs) is practically straight with no hills.. It is small towns and banana plantations.When you hit Limon, just before you enter city centre you will see a sign (at the Texaco Station) where you turn right to go to Puerto Viejo. After about 1 hour of driving, you will come to the little town of Hone Creek. At that point the main paved road continues on to the Panama border at Sixaola and a gravel road heads about 5 km into Puerto Viejo

    I was on spring break with 4 other girls and we all had the time of our lives in Costa Rica. We stayed at three different hotels throughout the trip and Hotel Totem was by far the best. We had a smooth check in and were welcomed wonderfully. The rooms far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a suite that had 2 queen beds and also bunk beds. The rooms and decor was amazing. Right outside our room on the balcony we had a private pool and great view of the ocean. Breakfast in the morning was incredible, banana pancakes, egg bakes, fresh fruit..anything imaginable. We used many resources from the hotel as well, such as day trips we took ie. snorkeling in Cahuita, Canopy tour and waterfall in Manzanillo, surf lessons right out side the hotel, Arenal Economical Tour including horseback riding, waterfall, volcano tour, and Baldi Spas. Hotel totem was wonderful and you will not regret your stay!

    We checked the hotel out of curiosity while driving thru Puerto Viejo. The Staff was very helpful and showed us the rooms and we decided to stay for three night. The rooms were very clean and everything looked new. The bathroom of the junior suite was one of the nicest we ever saw during our trip. The hotel restaurant is located in front the beach and we had a wonderful breakfast the next mornings. We will come back to this place

    I just can recommend this Hotel to anyone I stayed in Hotel TOTEM for the first time. I was there on business trip and I appreciated the great Internet Service which they offer for free. The Hotel is very close to the Beach but is a very quiet place at night. The staff was very helpful and the food in the Restaurant at the Beach was just enjoyable.

    Good location. Fantastic food ! Friendly staff - especially the son, who is also the chef. Comfortable room - we stayed in room 2 right in front of the small pool.

    I stayed in the hotel from june 23th untill june 26th. It was perfect! Perfect location at the beach, very nice people, great food, great room! Just perefct! I will definitely go back one day.
