The Denison Room, romantic and spacious.
The Denison Room, spacious and romantic, with large ensuite bath.
The Noyes Room is named for the family who became the third owners of the house in the late 18th Century and continued to own it until 1936. The Noyes Room can be made up with either a king-sized bed or two twin beds depending on guest preference. A private bath with tub/shower combination is immediately adjacent.
The Noyes Room, our brightest room, filled with sunshine -- boasts a king bed and private, adjacent bath.
The Noyes Room with antique desk and electric fireplace.
The sitting room of the Russell Suite, a warm, gracious two room suite with ensuite bath. This room is furnished with an antique twin sleigh bed, bureau and a 19th century inlaid desk.
The Russell Suite, a view of the bedroom of this two room suite, with a queen bed and fireplace. The wooden wall originally swung upwards to create room for a ballroom, later put to good use in the tavern.
Large Denison Room bath, ensuite, with jetted clawfoot tub, dressing table and twin closets.

Another Second Penny Inn with a blanket of fresh snow.
Autumn in all her glory surrounds the inn.
Hobo, our inn kitty. She's never met a stranger, just a friend she's never seen before.
Kelly, our rescue dog. She appears to be a corgi-collie mix.
Not the world's best picture but this is Tommy, on the left, and Inspector Dee Morse on the right. Tommy is a 14h Morgan-draft cross and little Inspector is (obviously!) a miniature horse. She's about 38".

"If you have two pennies, with the first buy bread, with the second buy hyacinths for your soul." Another Second Penny Inn, our 1710 colonial home, offers three large guestrooms, private jetted baths, fireplaces, gardens and quiet country setting near the heart of Mystic. Within three miles of downtown Mystic, historic Stonington Borough, the Aquarium, and the Seaport our home sits on 4 1/2 acres of gardens, fields and forest. Excellent opportunities abound for quiet, romantic walks or secluded hideaways for reading. Relax in the ambiance of a home that has for three centuries provided shelter and respite. Our resident critters include Kelly (dog), Hobo (cat), a bunch of chickens and two horses, Tommy Dorsey and Inspector Morse. Our guestrooms are beautifully appointed including such amenities as fluffy bathrobes, hair dryers, custom toiletries, individual refrigerators, and irons and ironing boards. Breakfast is an event not to be missed! Our menu uses seasonal ingredients and highlights New England recipes. Sandra bakes "from scratch" coffee cakes, muffins, scones and bread. Jim creates a fruit course of vanilla poached pears, fresh berry compote or cider-sauteed apples with yoghurt among other possibilities. Hot and cold cereals are always offered as well as entrees such as scrambled crab, apple stuffed pancakes, the famous “Egg Thingie”. Homemade sorbets finish off your meal! Our AAA recommended, 3 diamond property, has provided shelter and respite for three centuries. Welcome!

Noise below rooms is loud; can hear owners conversations. Saturday breakfast good but Sunday "buffet" horrible; better off going out and paying for breakfast. Tub is not jacuzzi/ whirlpool and hand held shower has too much pressure it actually hurts in addition to being awkward to hold and wash. Parking is inconvenient and not exactly safe on dark, snowy nights.
Innkeeper Response
We're sorry that you were disappointed by your stay here! Thank you for the reminder about noise on the ground floor; your's is the first complaint we've had this year and we'll be more careful. Our clawfoot tubs are jetted tubs; we do not advertise them as Jacuzzi/whirlpool and make it clear that they are 1-person tubs. If the shower attachment has too much water pressure all you have to do is adjust the faucet handle so less water comes out. I guess if you don't like Eggnog French toast then you might not have enjoyed Sunday's breakfast. Must have been the other guests who ate it all and left us a nice note. :) Our parking is well-lit, perhaps a 75 foot walk to the front door along the driveway and we had no snow in November at all. When we do have snow we "pack 'em in like sardines" in the driveway.5 out of 5Acharming weekend get away

Everything with our stay totally exceeded our expectations - from just hatched fresh eggs and very comfortable accommodations. It was truly a delight! We definitely will stay there again on our next trip to Stonington! It was my husband's first B&B and I think it has spoiled him for life, especially the homemade yummys!
4.6 out of 5Our Mystic/Stonington B&B Stay
August 01, 2012
Wonderfully "restored" 18th c. house with many remaining original features of an historic country inn. All modern B&B amenities within an 18th c. theme; and an excellent multi-course breakfast as well. A delightful and interesting (and convienent ) place to stay in the Mystic CT area. Highly recommended.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Second Penney Inn. We are new to NY and it was our first trip to the New England coast. The Inn is amazing...the rooms are beautiful and historic. Sandra is a gracious hostess and the four-course breakfast was exceptional (with herbs from her garden and eggs from her hens). We hope to visit again soon.
