Old Riverton Inn

  • Inn Details

The Old Riverton Inn was originally a stagecoach stop along the Hartford to Albany route, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Overlooking the wild and scenic designated west branch of the Farmington River and less than a mile from Peoples State Forest, the area abounds with outdoor activities including excellent trout fishing, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, biking, tubing, picnicking, and nature watching. The inn's dining room is popular for miles around, and is open Friday through Sunday. Parties and meetings are held in the enclosed grindstone terrace and served by our Hobby Horse Bar.

Mark and Pauline went out of their way to make our stay at the inn a memorable experience. When our sons and grandchildren came to share Sunday dinner with us, even though it was towards the end of the regular serving hours, we were served delicious meals and never felt rushed. It was a lovely family reunion, thanks to the kindness of the Telfords. We will most definitely stay again when we're in CT. Fred and Carolyn Sokolik
