Built in Early 1784, the Main House is a picturesque center chimney colonial tucked in the quiet hamlet of Old Mystic, Connecticut at the head of the Mystic River. The main Inn once housed the Old Mystic Book Shop, specializing in Antique books and maps. The Carriage House a modern Victorian home built in 1988 is located just behind the Main House. This picturesque property is located just three miles north of Historic Downtown Mystic. Guests can experience the rest and relaxation the Inn offers while being only a short distance to local attractions, scenic views, shopping, and dining. This property is surrounded by huge oak trees, original stonewalls, gazebo, and white picket fences. The Inn lends itself to the restful atmosphere often found in quaint New England towns. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of your room without distractions. Each of the eight guestrooms are well-appointed with private baths, fireplaces and two with standard size whirlpool tubs, wifi and television. We offer afternoon refreshments and a full hearty breakfast each morning prepared by chef and owner. We offer several specialty packages. So come and enjoy New England Hospitality at its best.

Everything about this B & B - style, rooms, outside appearance was quintessential New England in the fall. Rooms were comfy. Breakfast was outstanding - Michael (Inn Keeper) is a trained chef & boy he didn't disappoint! Definitely would stay here again.

Very dear friends gave us a BedandBreakfast.com gift card as a wedding gift. After skimming through the many inns, we decided to go to Mystic and stay at this wonderful B&B. Michael could not be more welcoming and helpful. He is meticulous about his property. The main house and carriage house are charming, inviting and comfortable. We loved the Mark Twain room which we stayed in and breakfast was scrumptious...just like the pictures on the web site. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day. Also, very convenient to all of the sites and attractions.

Had most wonderful stay back in May this year, would like to have stayed longer. Fascinating home, loved all Michaels collections, something different to see each day when coming down for breakfast. very accomodating host, made sure of our comfort, and a brilliant chef, superb breakfasts. Room delightful and very comfortable bed. Nice little balcony off this room which we sat on for our cuppa . How English!!Beautiful quiet location, and a nice stroll around the village with a geocache find as a bonus. So peacful to just sit in the gardens of the Inn. No distance to drive down to Mystic. Michael was a wonderful tentative host and an excellent chef. The Mark Twain room was the most spacious room I've ever stayed in at a B&B and we loved the gas fireplace. I would definately recommend the Old Mystic Inn.

Absolutely loved everything about the Old Mystic Inn. So pleased with everything about the several days we spent here. If I ever make it back to Mystic, I'll be staying here! There's a great video that shows inside the inn, I'd suggest taking a peek! http://mysticshops.tv/old-mystic-inn/

My wife and I are from western New York State and spent three days in the Robert Frost Room. The Old Mystic Inn is located in a very quaint village that seems out of the way when you are there but, in reality is very close to many wonderful attractions. If you want quiet, the grounds and surrounding area are perfect for sitting, reading or walking around. The local townspeople are quite friendly and helpful. Our host, Michael Cardillo, cares for every detail of this beautiful place and made our stay exceptional. He made us feel right at home, gave very helpful suggestions as to how to enjoy the local area and made gourmet breakfasts that we thoroughly enjoyed and will never forget. From the website, we formed some pretty high expectations about this place (which is why we chose it in the first place). We were more than satisfied with our choice and expect to return someday.

My husband and I stayed at the inn in September of 2009, and from first arrival were greeted with a warmth that made us feel like we were staying at a friend's home. The grounds are beautiful and our room(the Henry David Thoreau room) was comfortably furnished and very true to the period of it's namesake. The breakfast's were incredible and Michael went out of his way to see that our vegetarian dishes (a special accomodation, not the normal fare) were delicious and elegant. He also bakes daily and it was most welcome to come back after a day's excursion around town to find the scrumptuous treat he had prepared. The 'common rooms' each have their own charm and are full of lovely items that have been painstakingly collected to add to the coziness of the room. Words cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay here. We will definitely be back again and would recommend this inn most highly.
Queen size canopy bed, with private bath, with a shower and standard size whirlpool tub combination, wif, tv, AC, hardwood floors, love seat and two Queen Anne chairs to sit by the fireplace and relax. Refreshments and a full hearty breakfast can be found in the main house.

I am a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and it has always been a dream to own an operate a Bed and Breakfast. On December 15,1999 that dream was fullfilled. I enjoy being host and chef to the many guests that walk through the doors of The Old Mystic Inn.
